The next to last night

When I was reading the tale of the guy who lost his passport and wallet, couldn’t help visualizing and hearing it in the voice of the whiny man-child subway beggar in Falling Down. You do seem to attract those eyeing an easy five to ten greenbacks. The bar girls are an international scandal. And don’t they ever show signs of being pissed up?

Saturday night in the city

No offence, but isnt your part of the Philipines a comparative backwater. PP would certainly hold an interest for tourists of all stripes, especially culture vultures and most of the world that wants to visit Asia now and avoid 1984na, where you might get sucked into a zero covid sinkhole and never escape. Your pics and updates are doing the PP tourist board a genuine service. For example, I didn’t realize it was such a free and easy boozy place, set right up for folks who might want to visit a belillied lake in the mornings and a sports bar in the evening. So when are you going to visit a belillied lake?

Strollin’ on a river

Didn’t you intimate in one of your last posts before traveling that there was a street crime vibe about the city? Doesn’t look like it from these pics and stories…

The great barrier reef

Let me be the first to thank you for and congratulate you on the embarrassing full disclosure re. that happy ending massage. There’s many a debauchee would exclude that from the fine print on account of its comic self abasement. I nearly laughed out loud but please understand it was with the given knowledge that you survived sufficiently to shower by yourself and complete a credit card transaction in a Korean restaurant.
On that, this reader remains a tad puzzled as to why you’d be in such a rare exotic food culture and seek out kimchi….The llace looked spic and span but why not go all in on local peasant food at 5 dollars a mound? Then use the remaining 95 to do wicked things with in Lolita, Honeypot, or Fresh Quim?

Man about town

Loved that Honeypot to Loco narrative. Guess from a woman’s perspective the bars would be called, Seems Less Obnoxious Than The Average Prick I Meet, He Doesn’t Beat Me So I’ll Marry Him, He’s Turned Into a Duvet That Farts and Drinks.
Don’t take that personally of course.
You are very lucky to know Denny it would appear. He some gadfly retired millionaire? Seems to have a rash passion to splash the cash on the lash.

Getting here

Step Wife Bar. That’s a nice little concept, the idea of a step wife. Not sure what it would entail in reality but I’m picturing on tap rumpy pumpy and far less uptight, controlling behaviour.
Cambodia itself is a filthy name for the average sternly heterosexual male. Easy to read as Cum-body-ooh.
Have yourself a cautiously raucous, genuinely eye opening, advisably louche break and thanks for the update.

Out of the darkness…

That’s an eerie first pic and an inauspicious start to what should be a stocktaking pickmeup traversion of Purnom Penn’s westerner friendly fleshpots. The spirits are warning you to always take your own light, to be on guard, and to never ever spend more than 6 dollars on a single beer.

Not quite paradise

Take care in PP and watch your valuables. Loyal readers will be awaiting updates SO MAKE SURE YOU WRITE THEM.
Have a great time.

Blowing it

” I had promised my Whiskey Girl girl that I would attend their Halloween party last night.”
Are you woking up your pronoun considerations or is Whiskey Girl an ambiguous tranny type? Or is their a reference to the organizers’ plurality? You see I’m confused now.

No offence, but Halloween has always struck me as over contrived American bullshit, even though its ancient origins are from elsewhere (goes without saying there aren’t ancient origins of anything from America, the country is only ten minutes old.) Halloween seems to go of a piece with the zombie cosplay craze. Apart from little kids of course, those who wear black lipstick and paint organs on their bodies most enthusiastically tend to be middle class mummy and daddy haters. Read somewhere that in the US Halloween used to be a real tear up in which much property was seriously damaged. Then the insurance companies, who were kopping the fees for all this depravity, got together with the candy firms to turn it into a literally saccharine children’s event in which no one got seriously hurt. What am I driveling on about? But it’s true, look it up.
Anyway, awful tragedy in Seoul.

If I knew you were coming I’d have baked a cake

Kevin, John
Thanks. Think that was more clarification than I was deserving of. Not sure how a limbo state is of advantage for either party unless, materially, as per, it would favor the female plaintiff in a claim for monies against the male. You might want to check that out, though it looks like she would almost literally have to pursue you to the ends of the earth. Just fearful that one day you revisit Korea for unrelated reasons and find yourself wrest into handcuffs soon as you slide through immigration. Sure such a precedent has already been set.

Presumably you mean ex Korean wife. It beggars belief how gullible people can be. The “dumb fuck” stateside being scammed by miss golden legs all the way up to her ass on some level enjoys the game. But I would, for no reason I could justifiably explain, have assumed your ex wife might be more compus mentis. Also, she is Korean. Surely it takes one to know one. And yet and withal getting scammed so readily is on another level an indication of current personal/romantic desperation, a situation you may or may not want to extract a little pleasure from.

Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder

With recent shenanigans like Maria’s, regular fans are concerned you may be taking an understandable turn to the cynical side. On the other hand, don’t lose your inestimable humanity. It’s just a rare streak of inconsideration borne on a wave of exploitability. It’ll pass. How do you cultivate patience with it all? 2% beer wouldn’t cut it for me.

DiSOBedient

The guy in the red tshirt could be the next Jonnie Tango if he doesn’t drop a couple of tonnes for Christmas. Body count greater than the cartel run regions of Mexico there lately. Not to get all qanon but have you noticed an uptick in cardiac events since the vax was foisted upon us all?

In my little town

Well that escalated quickly. If you ever decide to open your own bar, I suggest For Whom The Bell Tolls as a name.
Speculatively regards Jim, I’m guessing that some expats are holed up in The Philippines having burned their family bridges at home. Given the ramshackle state of the health system and materiality and tenuousness of human relationships, it might be easier all round to feel it best to check out voluntaristically when the bell does toll. There’s definitely a life is cheap vibe about the place, despite the ‘almost always friendly and welcoming’ locals.

SOB mob

Genuinely the funniest couple of opening paras I’ve read on Long Time Gone. Keep it up…

Day turns into night, night turns into day.

What’s the score with the endless procession of very young girls with lots of kids? Is there no such thing as a responsibly fathered stable family in those parts? Do no Philipinos in large neighborhood numbers follow the ideal, comfy North European nuclear family model to any extent?

Sticker shock

Age gaps are bullshit. Anyone with parents can vouch for that.
That said, there’s a long list of internet legends who went out on top of or underneath a woman. Make sure if it happens to you, you’re at least underneath. Think of the pitiful but grasping wench having to detach herself from and slither out from underneath a cadaver….
Unrelatedly, I have a question.
What’s the legal status of psilocybin in the Philippines? Is it hawked or does it grow in your region? Anyone in your circle partake..?
Ok that’s three, I know…

Pair a dice

Gotta ask. What did young Jeremy get 6 years for in Korea?

» Posted By Dan On 20/March/2022 @ 10:58 pm

And so it ends.

“I admit I was in a sour mood after she arrived. We ate in silence, then watched a movie on Netflix, and then went to bed. This morning she packed up and left me.”

There’s something spare and beautiful about this.

Thought it best to throw in a compliment before saying I told you so. The young lady’s purported middle classness has little or nothing to do with the openminded intelligence of her choices. That’s true the world over. In fact, that little extra cluedupness might only serve to arm her with more cunning. As to well, why would she opt for the nutty Dick (who has probably privately assured her of his willingness to provide more money for her and hers than you), I think we are already answering the question. That’s also true the world over: Women making bad male partnership choices. (Maybe being an emotional wreck in the Philippines doesn’t subtract from one’s alpha credentials…)
They are spinning plates my friend.

There’s another aspect to this which I’m not sure I can couch sensitively enough. So I will leave it to Robert Burns.

O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae mony a blunder free us,
An’ foolish notion:
What airs in dress an’ gait wad lea’e us,
An’ ev’n devotion!

(Please understand that I’m not calling you a louse.)

Anyway, relax. You’re sitting pretty. Free, sufficiently monied, mobile, and ever a little wiser.

I can’t tell you why

Sounds like all those women are spinning plates. It’s a Darwinian rouse for the best long term form of survival. Without knowing every last detail of the woman’s background, it’s a tad farfetched to believe she wouldn’t be any different. Or is that would be any different?

Give and take

Harsh comments. You’re doing some good. I, personally, did nothing of the value you contributed this week and I doubt the commenters did either. But no good deed goes unpunished. Keep it up, with advisory discretion…

Still dancing as fast as I can

Well you’re not that old but you’re not that young either so why not tske a deep dive into the world of supplementation? No harm to be done and great things are reported, in particular, of resveratrol and NMN.
TRT is also a thing. As is taking rest days…

Trailers for sale or rent

Look into NAC for your lungs. FDA banning it because they want to keep profits but it has had some significant results for repairing lung tissue (or something). Hunt around online, its available as a supplement.

The day I left me behind me

That’s short story material right there. All wrapped up in the metaphor of declining vision/being told to get your heart checked out then being ghosted by someone saying they love you. Oh, how the heart suffers! Oh, how much more of this!?

Back on the mean streets of Barretto

So you left Cheap Charlies high and highwayed up to her highness. Those steps look like something unfinished by Gaudi.

No blood, no moon

Re. Your lethargy. Have you tried to cheat your way out? Neck a couple of red bulls and then take a whole day off? Remember what Tony Robbins, Bowflex, Gene Vincent, Jesus Christ, Florence Griffiths Joyner and Hawkwind all said with clarion metronominity: rest days are essential! You never seem to take any…

A kimbap kind of day

There is a plum gap in the market midpoint between Adams and Voodoo. Another business idea would be to print and sell tshirts to the village kids that say, We Accept Cookies.

Get off my land!

Either they’re scared of you or those 3 little faces reflect a less than happy home life. Hope its the former.
Sociability is huge in staving off/deferring the onset of dementia. So, ironically enough, that dooms the tea toral bores who think they’re getting ahead of the game by staying home and doing the Times crossword alone. Second after socializing is physical activity, of which you do more than ALL Americans over the age of 90 kilograms. THEN comes cerebral exercise, such as sudoku and learning Tagalog. If we include darts as one you’re doing fine.

Like pulling teeth

Dynamite Dick’s is practically next door to the dentist’s office, and as I walked by Dick called out to me “what are you doing?” Told him I just had a tooth pulled and he insisted on buying me a beer…
Surely this is the kind of shit that only happens in the movies. Did the dentist cut a thirty second fart and maintain eye contact?
