You seem to be attempting wilfully to evoke fear in yourself of late, what with the instant dread of MS due to a mild sequence of knee-buckling incidents while absolutely par for the course memory slips and cognitive mishaps alert you to aging fears. Well all I can say is, “Dart on!” The game/sport has multiple proven health benefits, the most obvious of which is maintained hand-eye coordination sharpness; the most underrated is its benefits to memory and the brain in general.
By the way, how far in meterage are you strictly supposed to be standing on the oche from the board in the PI?

Sounds like you jarred a nerve when you clumsily started into running motion without the necessary 5 minute stretch and warm up. Those babies have the memories of Scotsmen owed a shilling and so the symptomatics may persist into yuletide. Please, do loyal readers a favor and do not Google your symptoms again. The fucker knows only how to reference terminal organ-related or neurological conditions.
James of Sutherland rather ungallantly points out the happy girth on show around the carb fest. But it does make me wonder, is diabetes a major thing in The Philippines?» Posted By Dan On 09/October/2023 @ 6:02 pm
On a side bar note, I totally get why Swan doesn’t want to be picced and uploaded. You basically tell all on this blog. That’s why we live vicariously through you. But I wouldn’t wat to be part of the expose and I guess she either reads this blog or knows your intentions. Heck, that could be why Lucky finally went for you. And thus I’m a bit uneasy with the half photos, the almost-profile views. Smacks of someone who really would rather not being taking part in the activity of being photographed being photographed.
Like where you’ve positioned the TV on the wall. People entering the apt will feel you are sat there awaiting their return.

There was a massive study out of Sweden about a decade ago purporting to (I felt) reluctantly prove that the negative effects of persistent long term consumption of alcohol were offset by physical activity, particularly cardio. Heavy walking gigs probably qualify. So if you don’t correlate those pissy looking beers with sitting on your arse all day, you might get away with it for a whiles yet. My problem is the bar food, all that orange breadcrumbed oily anti-sustenance. Bet you love hearing all this criticism aimed at YOUR one life!
Haven’t commented of late because I wanted to bite my tongue about the live-in, love-in drama, which good men can’t make head nor tail of. That plus I can’t get the lame racist-sounding.pun about it being a potential black swan life event out of my head. No racism. But I’d like to amplify other commenters’ apprehensions and add that dogs know things. This one just gave you his opinion on the new set up in brute canine fashion.» Posted By Dan On 02/October/2023 @ 1:50 pm
Those guys are living in a movie in their heads and looking for extras to play the bit parts of their failures.
Or something. Anyway, feck em. They don’t provide the world with the content you do so don’t take it to heart and keep loning it up.» Posted By Dan On 22/May/2023 @ 11:12 am
Love the sound of those B12 shots, could do with a weekly infusion myself. They say that the excess gets harmlessly and orangely pissed away anyway, so why not triple down on Vit C pills while you’re at it? And isn’t Vit D the one they now claim can ward off cognitive decline (though you must gets tons of that photosynthetically whilst a gamblin through the trees)? Your doctors seem appreciably more sympathetic than the puritanical reapers I’m used to dealing with -and that to me is a good reflection on a lazy culture most men would like to retire to. Well done, John Kim indeed! (By the way, his woman sounds like she’s been ripped from a different century. The disasters that befell him previously paved the way to an angel and a life. Like the B shots, could do with a smack in the face like that myself.)
Personally I would not be looking to knock the booze on the head. Boy, I can picture myself taking that raft to a cold one out at sea to watch sun down every night of my life and not getting bored of the vista ever. So it’s got to be food. (I also think beer carbs aren’t the worst kind, but if you insist on cutting back on those, why not start ordering up large glasses of resveratrol-filled red wine -or don’t they sell it in Philipino bars?)
Seriously, just avoid orange food and your blood numbers will be pythagoreanly good.» Posted By Dan On 19/May/2023 @ 10:57 pm
*two vices
» Posted By Dan On 18/May/2023 @ 9:11 pm
Look I was harsh. My apologies. But surely if you’re picking your vices booze trumps food every day and twice on Sundays? When a man insists on having to vice its then that he has chosen to pick a fight with St Peter. Even Trump forgoes the drink so that he can tell lies. He also drops plenty of dead on truth bombs, which is only what I was attempting in my previous contribution to history.

That pulled pork and fries looks dreadful and all the food in your previous post that we’re supposed to yum yum after looks like if 9 year olds were asked to cater a funeral. Seriously, and don’t take this sacrosanctly, what is it with you Americans and that childish addiction to saturated fats and orange food? Stop it all and those numbers will improve and you can still enjoy a nice booze fade as per. And that ‘have to weigh against quality of life” shit is a direct quite from a book entitled ‘Fuck YOU Mom, I’ll do what I LIKE!’
How about weighing up the worth of making wholesale changes that include significant and regular infusions of garlic, leafy greens, quality fish and meat just once a day, mushrooms, tomatoes etc etc all the time against the fun of enjoying your fries sedentarily from a wheelchair? Seriously, you’ve got the time. Fast and eat intelligently.
Dr Kim above is only half right about cheating your blood numbers with pre appointment fasting. Do it regularly and you’ll be legitimately defeating thise numbers.
Regular readers want only healthgevity for you. Get to it.» Posted By Dan On 18/May/2023 @ 11:46 am
She looks like someone’s nervous granddaughter handed over to the responsibility of a person she doesn’t quite know whether to trust or not. Then suddenly comfortable when there are adult females around. Don’t want to be judgemental but please cease and desist.

The Philippines is nominally/seriously Catholic. Ever thought about dipping your toe in the local religious waters and creating a spiritual hinterland for yourself?

Just here to command you on the kind hearted gesture. (Whoops. kind-hearted gesture.) More real-world, life-changing, difference-making action than the combined tweets of the entire American left since 2013.» Posted By Dan On 03/February/2023 @ 1:12 am

Just a tip if you get squiffy and feel like Darth Vader’s armpit the following morning: plants. Eat garlic, lentils, leaves, throw in olives for taste, add whatever you like, nothing cooked, go raw and try to get up to 15 different plant sources by lunch, a feat much easier than you’d think from thinking. Especially the garlic. Also, if you’ve got them, B vitamins, omega 3, zinc, and of course NO COFFEE.

Narissa’s got a dentally goofy, humor tinted smile that I find slightly alluring. She also has a past and, as always with pics of your barfly desiderata, she reminds that life is harder and simply and radically different if you are a woman. Nirvana is supposedly the complete cessation of suffering. Just putting it out there…

I have countless hopes for the new year, none of which I will achieve. But you can help me out with one. Please please please stop posting images of needy young Filipino females hungrily consuming a meal they needed bought for them. It’s strangely depressing.

Eat plenty of those nuts. Good for the brain. Never, ever be scared of nuts. And the bigger the better. As evidence for the prosecution, I give you coconuts. Them babies some real big nuts and look what modern science is only now discovering about the efflorescent, harmony boding side effects of even consuming just 5 coconuts a day. So although I appreciate the post, please: no more facetious asides about the nut family. For nuts are on our team.

Yeah but really that’s 8 beers because you drink that 2 percent watery stuff. Proof of its relative weakness can be found in the fact that you are able to accurately recall the score. Sixteen pints of real beer and you wouldn’t remember to know where to reach when you went for a piss.

Merry Christmas to one and all (that’s you) at Long Time Gone! Let’s just be grateful we are not young Pholipino girls living in a squatter camp….
Speaking of which: are any of those rashly unplanned pregnancies ever the fetal progeny of the foreigner population? I picture you doing the right thing should you ever have a happy accident but here’s hoping you don’t in 2023.» Posted By Dan On 25/December/2022 @ 11:39 pm
You must be tired of people asserting your odd naivety but I’m going to pile on. If some random slob insinuated themselves into my home and hung around wordless on the sofa until cash was handed over, I’d practically feel violated.
I get how parlous the bar girl life is, don’t need the pic for that. But that you get that flurry of messages would tell me nothing about Christmas and everything about how a needy community sees you as a one man alternative social service system and all the myriad ways that could go badly wrong. Think it’s time to send a message with a one off blanking of all begging requests until things are understood. Otherwise you’re gonna need a bigger dog.» Posted By Dan On 19/December/2022 @ 5:01 am
The younger you looks like someone who was into CB radio, the kind of person who hadn’t quite arrived at an opinion on where they stood vis-a-vis Burt Reynolds. You looked like a kind of anti-Dixiecrat who nevertheless took on some of the coloring of their more homesteadier beliefs. I’m guessing that the more all-American-trucker look you became, the more desperate a cosmopolitan part of you was to get out and do Asia. You must miss proper brick and glazing. If only that shirt fit you now. You could still use the belt for other things.

How do you deal with all that constant neon pink and red lighting everywhere? It’s like a Barbie doll torture center.

Intriguing that in your post you make an appeal for readership understanding of the gossipy nightmare of living in a one horse peasant town amidst a shitstorm of unwarranted criticism. And what do you get in response? A shitstorm of criticism.
I’m guessing most readers follow your blog because they like you, they get something vicarious from your coal face fleshpot reportage that they don’t want to admit to, and -as men- they have half a weary eye on what the fuck they are going to do after 65. Least I do. But one other thing that fascinates me is I can’t quite work out whether your seeming naivety is knowing. These ageing seat occupiers don’t even know where the next slice of pizza is coming from. But OF COURSE they would spread shit like a kid given free reign over the peanut butter at the slightest sense that it would further their advancement or stymie someone else’s. You think they sit around praising the relative virtues of the white retirees? Pics alone present the tapestry of a backwater shark tank! Just watch out regarding the extent to which you might get ripped off. And always have a bag packed.» Posted By Dan On 11/December/2022 @ 7:30 am
On behalf of the entire population of the occident, can I express my relief that you’re pulling out of the bar venture. You were fated to lose tens of thousands of dollars and have your mental health eaten away. Another, better business opportunity will surely present itself should you still be inclined that way.

Did some research and it transpires it is perfectly ok for good hearted foreigners on a tourist visa with no legal recourse whatsoever to invest in Philipino run enterprises. Too, I’m fizzing with ideas for the new bar.
1. Huge TV screen behind the bar AND KNOW THE UK PREMIER LEAGUE SCHEDULE
2. Potential names: Pics Or It Didn’t Happen / Do You Want A Fight? / This Is A Bar Not A Brothel. That said… / The Children’s Bar / Rich And WhiteOk, so I’m not fizzing with ideas but there’s 2.

Soon be time for Joseph to pack up that guitar and return to his country of origin to spend his remaining years mostly occupying the same armchair growling at the news and young people on TV until it slowly then suddenly kills him. Or he could stay in the Philippines and actually have a life.

The storm clouds in my brain continued to darken. I tried to drown the discontent in beer without success.
You must be unlucky because that ploy usually works a treat.Your man Earl sounds like the type who wakes up in a ditch. You did the right, the noble thing. One question though. You always seem to venture out alone. No buddies non-Earl enough to pal up with and hit the town together?
