Comment sense

Beer o’clock is the best time of the day!

Another day, another blog post. Hey, it’s what I do. One of my favorite parts of blogging is the interaction with those readers who leave comments. As several of you have mentioned, losing the insights and wisdom of Kevin Kim here has been a real blow. He is definitely missed. On the other end of the spectrum, there have been some nasty and accusatory personal attacks made lately without foundation. It’s sad, really, that people have nothing better to do with their time. I’ve recently adopted a stricter approach to approving comments. If it is not relevant to something I’ve posted, it gets trashed. Still, sometimes I’ll make an exception. Like this comment on yesterday’s post:

Werd up, foo’ – I wrote you a song!

[Intro] Yo, yo, Pinkbits in the booth, Philippines heat, Droppin’ bars on a bloated Yank who can’t stay on his feet. John McCrarey, big boy, think you hot shit? Nah, this for the trashbag nobody wanna sit wit’.

[Hook] Fat Yank John, pissin’ in his pants, Ozempic belly still dancin’ in a trance. God’s gift to women? Boy, you a curse, Even your kids say “Dad, please leave the Earth.” Hideaway girls laughin’, Davina said “ew,” Swan gettin’ blackout drunk just to deal wit’ you!

[Verse 1] Yo, land of the brave, home of the Whopper-fed, John McCrarey waddlin’ through Baretto, eyes blood red. Think you a player? Bro you movin’ like a slug, Sweaty gut hangin’, smell like old fast food and drugs. Racist rants at the bar, spittin’ garbage talk, While your own blood look away, wishin’ you would walk. Gary said it best, “That dude a piece of shit,” Even the roaches in your room said “We quittin’ this.” Lazy as hell, couch stuck to your ass, Eatin’ garbage daily, triple patty with the mass. Ozempic shots poppin’ just to shrink the blob, Still leakin’ in your drawers, steamin’ like a slob.

[Verse 2] Creepin’ on Davina, swingin’ at the Hideaway crew, They all shot you down quicker than your weak-ass woo. “Imma big American,” yeah you big alright, Big mistake, big belly, big stench every night.

Philippines sun burnin’ on your pale-ass skin,
You still actin’ like the king, but everybody grinnin’.
Swan poppin’ bottles daily, tryna numb the pain,
“Can’t sober tolerate this alcoholic stain.”
Kids embarrassed, friends embarrassed, whole island know,
John McCrarey the joke that won’t let go.
Think you God’s gift? God said “Take him back,”
Wrapped you in lard and sent you down the wrong track.

[Bridge]
Piss pants philosopher, racist rap god,
Eatin’ trash so loud the whole barangay applaud.
Lazy, gross, delusional, walkin’ L,
Even the mirror said “Bro, go to hell.”

[Final Hook]
Fat Yank John, pissin’ in his pants,
Ozempic can’t save you from them dirty draws romance.
God’s gift to NOBODY, just a walkin’ mess,
DJ Pinkbits signin’ off — clean up your act, fat stress!

[Outro]
Yeah… McCrarey, go home.
Or at least change them drawers, bro.
Pinkbits out. Philippines laughin’ at you.

Beat drops. Mic drop.

Yeah, it’s not relevant or accurate, but someone (maybe with AI assistance) taking the time to write a song about me was still kinda sweet, even if it does seem a little disco-esque. So, I approved it with this response: “Angela, thank you for the love song, but I already have a girlfriend.”

While my comment approval standards might be low, they do exist. Want to have a peek at some of the comments I’ve recently trashed? Well, here you go then.

This was something Linda Saldon Beckerson tried to leave in the comments:

Hullo John,

Greetings from Nova Scotia!!!

I have some exciting news – I have almost finished another of my much lauded mother and son erotic tales!!!

Not to reveal too much, but in this exciting sex-capade, I follow my son, William George to the comfort room and listen from outside the door while he expels the proceeds of last night’s particularly pungent Chicken Vindaloo. The sounds of his explosive diarrhea and reverberating wet farts are more than this frazzled lady can bare, and lets just say I get a little randy!!

But I will post the final draft in your comments section when it is completed – Last thing a horny old gal needs is Kevin Kim correcting her grammar and spotting her errors whilst she is nibbling on William’s ear lobe.

Yep, even an old pervert like me found that disgusting. And how did Linda respond when I didn’t approve the comment:

You dirty cunt!!

Just admit you can’t handle a strong woman who can stand up for herself and knows what she wants sexually rather than just deleting my comments like a coward!!

You absolutely reek of insecurity and misogyny. No wonder you are relegated to pay women to talk to you and strut around like some hoity toity Lord of the Manor, giving out candy and ladies drinks to the poor yellow proles. “Please Gwapo, my handsome ATM….can I git some more?”

I see you, you dirty pig!!! You do not DARE delete another one of my erotic tales with my son, William George from your comments section, or you will find out very quickly what is what!!!

Kindest regards,

Linda

Oh, well. Of course, the champion asshole of late is the cowardly Todd, but when challenged, he crawled back into his rathole. And life goes on. Coincidentally, I came across this post of mine from 2022, where I had a positive interaction with a commenter. So, you just take the good with the bad and move on.

In other news, can anyone guess which country has been rated the best retirement destination in 2026?

Looks like I chose right, but the commenters on Facebook were pretty stern with their disagreement.

Well, I have some questions myself. A top 20 list that only includes 16 makes me wonder about the accuracy of the data. And how the hell can South Africa make the list at #5? Last I heard, white folk weren’t faring too well there. What happened to Vietnam and Cambodia? Anyway, you can scroll down and watch today’s YouTube video, which at least explains the criterion used to establish these rankings.

As for yesterday, just an uneventful shopping excursion, an increased dose of Ozempic from Dr Jo, a neighborhood walk, beers at Sloppy Joe’s and Wet Spot, then another restless night, which may or may not have been related to that high-dose injection. At least I lived to tell about it.

It has been a few months since I last did the Alta Vista stroll. I was surprised to see how many new houses are currently under construction. It’s a friggin’ boom town. Here are a few pictures from the excursion:

The Alta Vista clubhouse with Easter Mountain in the background.
A view of the bay.
The place where I used to live.
The view from here.
The house where I currently reside.
And the house I lived in from 2018 until 2021. The landlord raised the rent, I moved out, and the house is still vacant today. How’d that work out for you, gouger?
The way I walked.

Heading into town, I encountered another funeral banner:

Bernardo made it to 90. Maybe there is hope for me yet!
On the highway in Barretto at sundown. Next stop, Wet Spot!

Moving on to March 2020 in the LTG archives. As I’ve settled into those daily routines that to this day are still filling my hours, it is getting more difficult to identify posts interesting enough to be included in “The Story of My Life.” But at least this one addresses the sameness of everyday life, and also mentions my concern that the Philippines had not released any updated information regarding the pending scamdemic. Yeah, I was taking it all as something real in the early days. And things were about to go south very soon.

And now for that YouTube video I mentioned above. The Philippines wins because of the relatively low cost of living and the widespread English-speaking. Many of the expats living here go to Thailand for serious medical conditions, overcoming the major negative in the ratings. I still don’t understand South Africa being ranked higher than Vietnam.

Let me leave you with these tidbits:

Maybe I’ll have twins.
Death be not proud!
Like father, like son.

Okay, I’ve had enough of this nonsense. How about you?

  1. Wow, some truly horrific comments there. One wonders what foul manner of being thinks talking or even thinking like that is acceptable? If I had my way they’d be arrested and locked up, and I don’t care if people like Todd find that fascist I’d much rather have a safe and sound society than these maniacs loose.

As for South Africa, I believe there are very beautiful coastal towns with large white presences that make it safe. Even Brazil has spots like that.

    God bless,

    Stephen

  2. Bloody hell, mate – You attract some weirdos.
I can only imagine the state of a mind that fantasizes about their own son taking a shit.
I googled her name to see if her stories have been published elsewhere. Didn’t have any luck, but she does appear to be a real person, and believe it or mot actually has a son named William

Not sure why she is posting on your blog, moit – maybe she has a little crush ROTFLMAO.

  3. re: commentators
The anonymity of the internet can bring out the worst in people. At least when I met you in Seoul, I called you a MF to your face. (just kidding!!! Maybe it was you who called me that!)

    Re: best countries to retire
Would have liked to see a table of the scores for the countries in their list. I had to LOL as the video starts out by saying that their rankings are based on data, yet their criteria and scoring is (quite) subjective. Yes, Thai healthcare is very good, with the caveat that it is very good in private hospitals and you are going to pay for it. In public hospitals, ummmm, not so good. I would imagine it is the same as in the PI. Anyway, it is a fun question to ponder and there is no right or wrong answer. I guess I also have a different definition of comfortable. For myself, I highly doubt I would be comfortable in Sri Lanka on ~$700 USD/month. #eek

  4. Brian, I’m trying to remember if you were already a reader here when we met. Or is that why we met? It’s all fuzzy, but I think we were at Dolce Vita in Itaewon. I greeted you by saying, “What brings you here, motherfucker?” You responded, “A taxi.”

That’s a big for sure on the health care ratings. There are some decent private hospitals here, but the public hospitals are called “places people go to die.” Being hospitalized in one of those is my second worst nightmare here, right behind being in a Filipino jail.

Affordability is a big factor, but yeah, claiming you could live somewhere for a ridiculously low amount would also mean living like a local in the province. I’ve never been to Sri Lanka, but I doubt the $700 a month lifestyle would be to my liking. I’m still surprised Vietnam didn’t make the cut. Everything I’ve read says the cost of living is low and the amenities are first-world. Oh well, I’m happy with my choice.

  5. Having never participated in a rap battle, and generally despising rap as a major contributor to the decline of Western civilization, culture, and civility (along with obligatory accoutrements like tooth grills, neck tats and dooky pants), I couldn’t resist this opportunity to enlist the wonders of AI to lob a steaming pile back over the fence, to wit:

    Ahem:

    (Verse 1)
Walking down Baloy, chain looking plastic
Rhymes so wack, man, the failure’s drastic
Calls himself a lyricist, but spits pure trash
Trying to drop hits but he’s making zero cash
Stuttering on stage, man, you’re choking in the bars
You couldn’t even make it driving jeeps or Grab cars
Girlies looking bored, yeah, they’re checking out their phones
You a fake G with the microphone tones
Sweating in the booth when the real shit starts
You’re a puzzle missing all the vital puzzle parts
Can’t take the pressure, man, you better hit the bricks
You ain’t never gonna pop, Mr. Short Dick Pinkbits!

    (Chorus)
Oh, Pinkbits! Dropping all the weak hits
Rapping off-beat while you’re pitching such a fit
You fronting for the woke, but we know the real truth
Struggling for relevance and chokin’ in the booth
Yeah, your skills are tiny, and you’re feeling the sting
We know why you’re insecure and never gonna sing!

    (Verse 2)
Let’s talk about the ego, let’s talk about the pride
Covering for something that you’re struggling to hide
Walking like a tough guy, acting like a giant
But your confidence is shaky and you’re never self-reliant
Looking for a spotlight just to find a bit of fame
But no one in Barretto even recognizes the name
    That’s why you’re mad, that’s why you’re always hating
Cause the ladies see you coming and they aren’t even waiting
Spouting woke nonsense just to compensate the lack
Of the rhythm and the flow that escaped out the back
Can’t spit a verse, can’t measure up at all
When the beat starts dropping, you’re the first one to fall!

    (Outro)
Yeah, keep hiding in the shadows, little Pinkbits.
Go ahead and hang it up
Mic drop? More like mic flop.
    Pack it up.
I’ll bet you don’t even like tits.

All in good fun, of course.
    Cheers!

  6. Dr. Greg, yeah, it was a weird story that I didn’t want to read more about. I checked out her Facebook page (thanks for the link!), and there wasn’t much there other than birthday wishes. The photos were all of old, ugly white women. Nope, no thank you!

  7. Thanks, Stephen. I also don’t understand the mindset, but this blog isn’t the place for that kind of crap. I’ll try to do better at moderating the comments section going forward.

I’ve just been reading a lot lately about the white South Africans being killed for the sins of their fathers. Maybe they treat expats and tourists differently. I’m sure it’s a beautiful country, just not for me. I also don’t see how it could be ranked higher than a place like Vietnam.

  8. I assume Vietnam is off the list due to having no real retirement visa. Most of us only get a 90 day stay and then you have to leave the country and re-apply. Gets tiresome (and a waste of money) to do. If you are based in Danang for example it is a 12-15 hour hot and dusty day to the Laos border and back and runs close to 200 bucks. Screw doing that every 90 days when you are in your 80s.

  9. Dr. Greg, ah, okay. I can see why that’s a major drawback. I renew my tourist visa every 60 days and only have to leave the country after three years. Much better than Vietnam for sure.

  10. >Brian, I’m trying to remember if you were already a reader here when we met. Or is that why we met? It’s all fuzzy, but I think we were at Dolce Vita in Itaewon. I greeted you by saying, “What brings you here, motherfucker?” You responded, “A taxi.”

It’s fuzzy in my mind also. LOL. It was definitely in Dolce Vita and I think that I had happened to come across your blog and in there, you had mentioned it was a decent bar, and so I checked it out. IIRC, one of the times I happened to wander in there, you were in there also, so we chatted for a bit. Chatted a couple of other times also, but I was not a dart player and not in Seoul full time, so our in person paths crossed infrequently.

    Re: your joke
Nope, couldn’t have been me. I always stayed at the Marriott across the river and took a bus from there and then walked. 😛
