A day in Pundaquit

Nothing wrong with being an early bird. Unless you’re a worm.

The scenery may change when you visit a different location, but that doesn’t mean the routines do. Our second day in Pundaquit included a morning walk, chillin’ on our hotel room porch taking in the beach views, dinner at our favorite local restaurant, and then hanging out with the locals at the Beach Bar. I may have had a few extra beers along the way, but that’s just enjoying vacation mode. Here’s some of what we saw as we made our way through the day:

A couple of blocks up the street from our hotel, we saw this house for rent. Did a quick walk-through, and it is very nice inside and out. Fully furnished for 28,000 pesos a month (around $500). I admit it was tempting to think about living here, but the reality of being way out in the boonies with no transport is just too inconvenient to consider.

Our journey was not quite 4K in length.
These are the friendliest and healthiest-looking dogs I’ve seen in the Philippines. They live with the manager of the Wave Song Resort and hung out with Swan in front of our room.

When the dinner hour approached, we made our way back into “downtown” Pundaquit to dine at the Paraiso restaurant.

That would be it.
Paraiso wasn’t busy during our visit, but Swan and the owner’s wife enjoyed chatting.

With our hunger satiated, we hoofed it out to the Beach Bar for our evening fun. It was surprisingly busy.

My old Barretto buddy Bruce, who lives in Pundaquit now, dropped by again. I showed him the house-for-rent photo, and he said he wants it. Hope that works out for him.

So, I finished the four beers on my beer card and had a couple more. Bought a round of lady drinks for the hardworking bar staff, and then, having reached my self-imposed limit, we did a beach walk in the dark back to our resort. And that was the end of our day in Pundaquit.

Made it to my last post from January 2022 in LTG archives. It was quite the ride. The relationship that ended was back on again, and going better than ever. Dick was still busy trying to undermine me, but Paula wasn’t buying it. It has been a little strange for me to read these old posts and remember things I’d otherwise have forgotten. But the end is coming, and Pearl gave me a bit of a precursor when she revealed her desire for a future I was unable to provide. And I loved her enough to not resist her pursuing it. Four years on now, and it doesn’t appear she has achieved the dreams she told me about, but sometimes dreams change. As long as she is happy, I am happy for her. Ultimately, she did me a favor when she let me go.

For today’s YouTube video, the Filipina Pea asks Filipinas how much money it takes to be considered rich here. With my income of nearly half a million pesos a month, I probably qualify in most eyes.

  1. Don’t know if it was just the pictures you took, but Pundaquit seems to be noticeably cleaner than Barretto, both along the streets and at the beach.

    Re: transportation
    Because it is smaller, there are not the jeepneys, trikes, car/drivers etc.?
