The next to last night

Fair play on that πŸ‘ πŸ‘Œ
not yelling or getting upset about the situation was the smart play

Are there so few bargirls in PP bars that such an event can occur to you twice in one night?
Either way, the girl still made her minimum drinks quota since you’d both already paid for the drinks.

You and I, along with any sane man, may see this short-term thinking and attempt to make quick bucks without having to pretend to enjoy a patron’s company any longer than necessary as baffling. Perhaps from the girls’ perspective it’s just a numbers game. The more a variety of customers she sees, the higher the chances that she’ll never ever have to finish any drink bought for her, and yet float like a butterfly from customers while staying almost sober the whole night πŸŒ™
besides, at least one of those customers will be gone from the city the next day and she’ll run the same game plan on the next set of lovestruck customers with fat wallets.
The girl may have not have an Advanced Psychology or Economics degree, but she does understand the laws of averages in this line of work. Sooner or later she’ll reel in a big fish and she’ll spend the next few months at home, receiving a large allowance from a lovestruck special client who’s saving her from the bar 🍸
once he catches her double-dipping after she had promised never to return to the bar, then she’ll be back working the same scene ; much older and less attractive. And thus continues the cycle.

At least your cycle seems more manageable. All she does is drink all night with strangers, and all you do is pay for it and try to make friends.
At least you got to see some of your new friends during the day as well

I feel sorry for the customer who felt the need to shout. You exercised a bit more restraint , but I suspect this may be another experience that will spoil your generous spirit and sunny disposition.
It’s important that you totally believe that the friendships you have with bargirls is real and authentic, and not to think about the money. In any case, it doesn’t matter. They need money, you have money. You need companionship, they provide companionship.
You’re good at doing your part, and we all know you’d benefit from a bargirl who’s so good at her part she’ll restore your faith in this system πŸ™

Saturday night in the city

Well
Yaya does look exotic. but then again, I don’t really know what Cambodian women look like.
looks like our hero is already repeating his bargirl attachment fiasco. How does this lead character keep looking for a connection with a woman whose entire job is to entice him to buy more drinks 🍸 and/or other services πŸ€”?
And still have the time to need to apologize for not tipping enough ? Sounds like having a wife .
Our hero has a heart, unlike all the other ass hole bar patron who just hit and run .

PP is the capital city? Why did I think it was Angkor Wat? I gotta learn how to read.
Then in that case, it is literally impossible to compare Barretto with PP. You can’t compare a backwater neighborhood with an actual city.
I am impressed that the city looks so cosmopolitan and touristy. Sure it’s not Paris, but it’s also not as the chaotic type of touristy like Hanoi. It has the small town vibe and yet with all city amenities. And from the pictures it doesn’t look so crowded you can’t breathe.

If John wasn’t spending so much time in the same city area, I’m sure he’d have more variety in experiences to write about. But with such a short vacation, one needs to prioritize.
Having an experienced expat as a guide is working out great.

What’s that about Seoul being cosmopolitan? I have always thought that poorer cities like Manila or Kuala Lumpur aren’t fazed by foreign faces, but supposedly international centers of trade and commerce like Tokyo and Seoul somehow gawk at every tourist as if he were an alien. Not only are those cities difficult for tourists to navigate, but it’s almost as if the international guests coming over are an imposition that should spend their money quickly and leave. Maybe I’m just imagining things.

We look forward to the return leg to see how the arrangements go.
John is a pioneer to be one of the few travelers after the mayhem of the last few years

Beachy keeno

wow

the woman on the right on the snackbar photo is absolutely stunning. the one in yellow πŸ’›
Although as I write this I contend that she may be more a girl and not a grown woman
such natural beauty and an disarming charming innocent smile πŸ˜‡
I don’t know how you don’t develop neck aches from constantly looking at such beautiful women

but

Doing it my way

poor Agnes
she’s living rent-free in your head
You’re gonna keep going to her bar and deliberately not buying her a drink. Even better, buy everyone in the bar a drink, staff and patrons except anybody whose name rhymes with ‘badness’ . Then she’ll definitely get the hint, and repent from her ways.

Glad to see you’re still keeping fit, even surviving a hard hiking route. Do you usually walk slower than the rest of the hash group so you leave slightly earlier ,or take a safer easier route that accommodates your needs? You know, it’s not really a competition so better be safe than try to impress the German daredevil.
Hashing is supposed to be enjoyable, and I fear that Gunther’s trails may lead to loss of limb some day.

in other news ,the rainy season floods seem to be over all over South East Asia. Singapore is nice this time of year.

Hey
whatever happened to that exotic woman πŸ‘©? she joined a few hikes and got her hash name, and now she’s dropped off. Perhaps she got married and her husband is not a fan of hiking πŸ€” or she’s too busy at work.
which reminds me, do bargirls who work all night in the bars not spend all day sleeping? It must be tough to stay up all night drinking at work, and then having to run errands the next day. Does the hangover subside just in time to clean, cook and get the kids ready for school? Maybe I’m doing this whole thing wrong. I need 12 hours of sleep and 3 cups of coffee to function

What’s your secret to getting up at 5am and maintaining a sunny disposition all the way past happy hour ?

Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder

Now even I feel sorry for you .
you have enough money to live comfortably in retirement, and yet you chose to stay in one particular place instead of traveling all over the world. That place is home, for all intents and purposes.

your bar visits are amongst friends
and the recent events that took away the blinders and stole your innocence is rather sad. With all your money and you still can’t count on your bar friends to even pretend to be interested in you as a person…That is not a way of thinking that is good for any of y’all.

just like the poster above, I too worry that you may take to the dark cynical side if you continue noticing all these things.
There are days when it’s better to believe that these girls genuinely care for you, despite all your wealth. So that’s good πŸ‘

We know you’re a decent generous human being , and having a long list of grudges against bargirls who spurn even your modest attempts at conversation is not really what would keep you smiling.
Joy is what will keep you smiling. And it’s Sunday

GOVIC highway

National highway makes me chuckle πŸ˜ƒ
Reminds me of National High school…what makes it National I wonder

thanks for the tips
I’ll take it step by step

» Posted By Teddy On 30/September/2022 @ 11:46 am

The word ‘highway’ is not what I imagined when I see your Govic .
for one, the road is totally exposed without guardrails, and there are even sections with houses nearby.
the surface seems white , is that made from cement ?

And I have noticed that you also refer to the Barretto road as a highway too? The same road that passes through the bar area, with bars on each side.
Would walking street be considered a highway if if it wasn’t closed to traffic πŸ€”?

To me, highway connotes fast moving traffic with pedestrian under or overpasses if necessary, and very far from residential areas ,with barriers on either side so no animals , wild or domesticated, can access the roadway at all.
A single lane road in between houses and businesses should be a street 😌

Words must mean something

now that I think about it…. what is a freeway ?

This hiking route you took is quite flat but long, and yet it doesn’t seem that boring because you’re not passing by too many people or vehicles.

after your hike ,do you feel any strain or pain on your back or shoulder? I tried walking a few miles and not only my calves were on fire, but my back and shoulders were sore for days.
Aa they say, never emulate your heroes….Don’t try this at home

Raindrops keep falling on my head

I’m impressed that you keep up your walking even on a rainy day. How is that working out for you, are you seeing muscle gains and weight loss πŸ“‰?

The tall girl really isn’t into the whole smiling thing πŸ˜• I think they call that the restint face 😐

It seems like there’s always more people when it’s time to drink than there are when you’re walking. I guess you take different routes and meet up at the central location.

Now I see where the membership fees go to : beers and cake mix to smear all over each other. Do you get medals and trophies if you walk a thousand miles πŸ€”

Running dry again

thanks for the information

I don’t know how you got so lucky….but it seems like u nabbed one of the best houses in the best neighborhood in town. Other than Dave’s BGC mansion, I don’t believe anybody has anybody comes close to your comfort zone .

Keep living your life ✨️ just the way you like πŸ‘
good luck on the hike

SOB mob

wait
The drinks during the SOB are free? I thought the entry fee allowed a certain number of beers and finger food, not unlimited quantities. But someone who chooses to drink Red Horse when San mig light is available is not one to be trifled with ; especially if there’s a group of them. Red Horse leads to roid rage , and that’s my professional scientific opinion.

Kev is right about SOB being the same old same old routine. u already know who’s in the top 3. How many bars participate in SOB since its return? Fewer than 10?
Your once-a-month idea works great. If they held the SOB once a month, and spent that month advertising and practicing ,and searching for the biggest stage and bar to hold it in ,that would be great.

but I guess the point of SOB is to allow many different bars to make some good money at least once every few weeks.

As a long-time reader, I have noticed the shift in tone. It’s probably corresponds with your habits, in that you don’t spend too much arguing with people on Facebook. This used to have some political memes and putative jokes. What happened to the owning the libs section? There are some 200 Democrats in the house, 50 in Senate, some 20 something governors, and hundreds of mayors and councilors ,and countless media personalities 😳 Surely you can own a lib a each day of the year, and still have time for waffles .

on another note πŸ“ Condolences are in order. I just heard about the death in your neighborhood. I’m guessing that he wasn’t a close friend of yours, and still you’re attending the wake . Good man

and congratulations on your vaccinations. I guess it’s almost time to fly πŸͺ°

Goodbye Cameltoe

sad to hear of the end of your favorite place.
The owner is savvy enough, I am sure she will find another avanue . as long as you and other loyal customers keep coming, and invite some of your friends too.

What’s the picture about? You post a picture of a woman in her underwear in your bed ….What’s the story? I’m guessing that it’s not one of your ex wives, or your current third wife ; as Kevin likes to remind you . πŸ€”
‘Technically, I’m still married to my third wife ‘ should be a slogan on a T-shirt. Maybe that’s the good pick-up line you could use. Having tried everything else, at least give this one a try.

Looking forward to John’s bar review. I didn’t know that they also had an amazing lineup of beautiful waitresses.

Glad that you’re still keeping your traditions.
Sorry to hear about the passing of your friend in town. You’re doing quite well despite your vaping. Also good news that your doctors are moving into your neighborhood. You’ll have friends to talk to ; especially since you share the same worldview and political leanings.
I’m sure there are others out there, friendly folks like that who could share conversations with you from time-to-time.
Congratulations and god speed.

Enjoy the rest of the Hash Monday and all your traditions. I guess you’ll be sitting on the ice

At the Hash

I see the sign says ‘Mangos dive bar ‘ but you captioned the picture as Da Kudos .
Also, are those lovely ladies on the beach part of your hashed group ? Looks like the walking is working out for them, look at those taut muscles πŸ’ͺ Buns in the sun β˜€οΈ I should start some walking as exercise too.
Are you the boss to your househelper in the hash too? That’s nice to have that, you’re quite gracious. Happy birthday again. Don’t mind the 40 year gap, nobody’s counting.

Where’s that place that you need to cross the water on a boat? I didn’t think you’d have to go across the bay during your hashing trips.

Also, whatever happened to that young-ish day hashing friend you met in recent weeks? Glad to see that there’s some younger expats who visit from time to time ⏲️
I wonder why they prefer the gridlock smog chaos that is Manila. I do concede that Manila has a world class suburb in BGC. With your monthly budget, I reckon you would enjoy the various walking paths and waterways. In a way it’s like your beloved Subic bay subdivision, but still very much Filipino. Though the expat crowd is a bit on the younger side with office jobs to commute to , so maybe your drinking habits may take a hit. I imagine they’d be many families out and about in the streets. It all sounds great until you remember that stepping outside the gates will bring you to an encounter with loud jeepneys and crazy traffic.

Other places of note include the relatively cool town up north in the mountains ⛰️ Is it called Baggio, like the Italian soccer player?

Well, I am sure these are some of the things you thought about before you chose to settle in Barretto.
Have you ever lived in the big Angeles city? I’m guessing that would’ve factored majorly in your decisions. That festival of smut may be a mess but the nearby Clark has many of modern-day conveniences. And that’s not counting the latest developments.
What do your compatriots and acquaintances say about life in the dirty city? Are things better after the great reset of the last 3 years?
I’d hazard that you fared pretty well over this tumultuous period

Please no spoilers about Manifest. I’m gonna start season 1 . See? Your writing does change the world. You have influenced an old man on the other side of the world to start watching TV.

Now that the rainy season is coming to an end, it may be time to renew your documents and get on with your world travels

A dull aching pain

Happy birthday πŸŽ‚ πŸ₯³ πŸŽ‰
Joy is the gift that keeps giving ✨️
And judging by her smile she must have enjoyed her gift as well .

Is this new TV watching thing a hobby you picked up after your recent bout of the not-covid illness πŸ€’? I thought you would rather the street scenes from your barstool than watch the idiot box πŸ“¦
That manifest must be worth it πŸ‘Œ

What do you have planned for the big day?
Big celebration all over town or a huge hiking trip with friends and frenemies alike πŸ€”
I guess we’ll have to wait til Monday to find out

Toothday

Her offering to let another girl drink with you is quite funny 😁 πŸ˜‚ I had always assumed that most of the girls are in relationship; with a stay-at-home boyfriend; and that is the reason they’re working πŸ’ͺ Him being at home therefore is not an impediment to her doing her job, and if she doesn’t return home before breakfast the next morning, he’ll understand that something at the office came up , a project that she had to finish off. And even if he doesn’t understand, he’ll have an epiphany when he sees the bundle of cash she brings home.
In this way, the feminist movement is alive and well in your small town , the women work and drink all night ,while the men stay home and look after the kids. Or maybe I don’t understand what feminism is.

Sorry to hear about your tooth. I bet this is around the time you wish you had a wife to console you, or a medically trained girlfriend to help you ease your pain.
Either way, I’m sure this won’t stop you from enjoying your day as usual. The medication should help.

Bars out Baloy way just seem oddly spaced. I’m sure they have to fight for real estate with hotels and guesthouses. And jostling for a good spot on the beach ⛱️ means that they’re located very far from the foot traffic, so the clientele has to work hard to find them. They’re not that different from your beloved Hideaway, except maybe they don’t have a toothy girl to entertain you.
Do enjoy the rest of the day, and try to squeeze in a nap some time during the day before you start your evening activities .

This small-town newspaper is really churning out some good stuff lately. If you’re not careful, Dave the businessman may even attempt a takeover of sorts in the future πŸ™‚ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜ƒ
Wait til he reads this….hopefully he skims past the Barcelona thing

I think you should make up for your faux pas by writing an in-depth article about Shantelle.
She may not look exotic but I’m sure her story will fascinate the readers as well.

Your friend Joy switched jobs and she seems much happier ☺️ Well, a big part is due to your switching up your happiness and continuing your patronage of wherever she works. We won’t mention your off-duty escapades.

Maybe Shantelle also has a funny story of how she moved from Treasure Island and then to Bottoms Up and then to Adam’s.

I gotta say, that Adam’s doesn’t seem like it’s quite the right fit for your town. Unless they show Australian sports all the time, and even so they still have competition from the much nicer Barcelona, Mangos and Thumbstar, I don’t see them having a dedicated clientele. Besides, those other establishments probably have an actual Australian person at the helm , so I don’t know which sports Adam’s is showing because Manny Pacquiao is a politician now. And the Lux bar downstairs? I hope they’re not flooded out….it’s literally built into the ground where the water will definitely flow in.

You know what kind of content I would pay to see ? Those funny animal videos πŸ“Ή 🀣 If any bar had an unending funny video montage on the screen, I would stay in that bar and buy as many drinks as it took to see just one more cat 🐈 fall off the couch. The other screens could play the last live show from the rock legends Journey as long as they like, but I want my beer and funny animals.

I read your Bar Barretto bar review . I had thought you had covered all bars of Barretto, but it seems like there could be well over 50 active bars in the area. That’s more than I expected .
Although my favorite review remains the open roof Barcelona, I would swap that openness and views and transpose the prices of Cheap Charlie’s onto that much better roof. Cheap Charlie’s is just way too close to the road, too close to the edge. Do people enjoy the views of the mountains, instead of the wide open bay ?

Since it’s the rainy season, you’re bound to get stuck indoors at some bar 🍸 That will be your cue to conduct your in-depth interview with a beautiful lady.

This will be your new section called ” Girl of the week”. It’s not as raunchy as the old Tabloid Page 3 girls, but for your small-town newspaper circulation numbers it’ll have to do. Remember that there are church ladies who religiously read this content.
To satisfy the whims of the church ladies , you could have one numbile scantily-clad youthful and exuberant single mom one week , and then an older mature weathered 45 year old single mom the next. That should balance things out.

Of course you shouldn’t take any of this seriously . You already naturally have the gift of conversing with people such that they tell you a bit about themselves, as you share drinks and laughs. And your jokes have been rumored to lead to uproarious laughter, although your readers can’t attest to that as those are seldom shared on this forum.

There you have it…
The only thing missing is the Classifieds section. I mean, it won’t hurt 🀷 to include some hotel promos or other services provided that a reader might stumble across and find useful.

YES, I do realize that collating all this information will cut deeply into your drinking time….but an occasional special edition will get things exciting, and once it’s done people will refer to it even afterwards.
Think about it.

Shantelle is the first girl of the week /month
And then Gum Leaves is the special rainy deal of the month.

Also, how’s the tooth ?
