Well, the cheesy version is a variant, and there’s nothing wrong with preferring your French dip a certain way. I dunk tuna melts in tomato soup, after all (or at least, I used to), and those’re super cheesy. I actually didn’t realize that you could have a French dip with cheese at all until Wikipedia set me straight. I guess the real point is that John Kim wasn’t short-changing you: he made a proper traditional French dip. And because the sandwich is so simple, you’re right that the au jus makes the sandwich.

Cheese on a French dip? Hmmm. A look at Wikipedia shows a variant of the traditional French dip; it has Swiss cheese (i.e., Emmenthaler). The original sandwich, though, is cheeseless.

I’m old enough to remember the old “soak your body part in urine” myth when you get stung by jellyfish. Actually did it once as a kid. Gross and utterly useless. Like putting butter on burns. Old wives’ tales that we grow up with, eh?
Salisbury steak looks good, as do the sides. I try not to think too hard about what close cousins chili and baked beans are.

Walking is a good test of character. Joy’s not a veteran walker, so of course her first few walks may involve blisters or other foot problems. If she gives up right away (give her blister a chance to heal, of course, before you judge), then you’ve taken the measure of her. She ought to be able to deal with the pain of a blister, though; she’s got kids, right? Childbirth is a hell of a lot worse, from what I hear. I’ll keep faith that she’ll heal up and pass the test of character.

Sorry to read the Monte Cristo wasn’t as good as remembered. Isn’t the dipping sauce classically raspberry jam?
First and best Monte Cristo I ever had was a Bennigan’s sandwich. Totally covered in batter, fried to a crisp. Haven’t had one that good since. Might have to make my own one day.
Maybe the moon was just taking a break. Sick of appearing to all us terrestrial folks.
As for Fauci, fuck ‘im. We’re apparently about to lose the mask mandate here in Korea. My boss says it’s because Korea is following the US’s example… by which he means the US red states’ example. God knows why. Korea did a better job handling the pandemic, overall, than did the States.
Random note: I’m down to 118 kg. At this rate, I’ll make my weight goal well before December 31. More on that later at my blog.

Well, get yourself looked at and stay healthy. I do keep thinking back to Leonard Nimoy’s COPD; the man had quit smoking decades earlier, and it still came back to bite him. That’s worrisome, and it makes COPD something to watch out for.
I can relate to the low-energy thing. In my current state, everything takes effort, and I hate that feeling. Maybe Trump’s “low-energy” insult is dirtier than I gave him credit for.
My feet itch all the time from diabetic neuropathy, and it’s worst when I’m in bed, but as long as I have something to distract me, it’s not too bad.
Will you fall in love again? Who knows? You seem to keep hoping for a May-September romance, but there’s a Law of Diminishing Returns dynamic at work, here, as you get older. Then again, you might just find the Pinay version of Anna Nicole Smith (although look how she turned out).
Monte Cristo looks fantastic. I could use one about now instead of chicken breast and salad.

Try making dishes where you slice the beef thinly. Even just slicing the beef thin, cooking it, then just adding salt and pepper is good. Doesn’t have to be a steak.Thumb:

My wisdom tooth extraction took a long time, too. Sorry to hear about the discomfort, but it sounds as if it could’ve been worse, and now, at least, it’s over. Keep us informed as to whether you go for the implant or the bridge.

Sorry to hear about the tooth. Implants are expensive, from what I’ve heard. You can get used to living without a tooth, though. I’m missing one wisdom tooth, and life without it has been just fine. Are we talking about a molar, or about a more visible tooth?
