Well, I am tempted to do two…one small and the big group but not likely now. Everyone is bringing something so there should be food enough to go around. As much as the natives love fowl foods I’m surprised turkey isn’t more popular here. I have seen some birds on my walks but never in the markets.
I don’t think there will be any issues people-wise and with a large group, it will be easy to bail if and when it stops being fun.

Interesting trivia on the origins of Santa Fe. I really do hope to get back and cross the river to that village. It has no access except through the river. So trikes are parked on either side. People get out and wade across carrying their newly purchased supplies. To clarify, I would like to VISIT but I wouldn’t want to live there. Rumor has it there is a church buried up to its steeple in volcanic ash.
Yeah, I used to laugh at that “four seasons” quip, thinking so do most places I’ve ever been. I do miss autumn and spring though.

Brian, yeah perhaps Iline and I do indeed share certain traits and characteristics when it comes to love.
One part of our conversation I didn’t share in my post was about our breakup. From her perspective, I “gave up” on her when I told her I was taking a step back to give her space to decide who she wanted to be with. That’s exactly the opposite of what I was doing…I was waiting for her to do the right thing rather than continue sneaking around and hiding our relationship. I figured she would come to know in her heart that I was “the one” and we’d have one of those happily ever after stories. It was over for me when she got angry and said “I’m glad I didn’t choose you over my boyfriend”. Now she doesn’t have either of us. I hope she is happy with her new guy–she told me his wife just died two months ago. Hmm.
But I’m actually doing better on my “fuck love” journey these days. It still feels like I have a hole in my life sometimes, but that’s better than a hole in my heart.
And no worries, anytime the little head gets hungry I know where to buy him some food…

Kev, thanks for the thought-provoking comment and also the link to M. Scott Peck–I’d never heard of him. Yeah, I’d never articulated Peck’s theories, but I’ve often attributed my relationship woes to being both selfish and lazy. I read Peck as confirming my diagnosis!
It was interesting though that Peck himself was no angel. Engaging in extramarital affairs and being estranged from his kids. I guess knowing the proper road and actually staying on it are two different challenges.
Well, after all, Peck did marry a Ho. (sorry, couldn’t resist)

A high tide raises all boats. That’s actually been the best thing about the league in past iterations. Lots of darts (15 games) in an intensely competitive environment over a short period of time is the best kind of focused practice. By the end of the season, everyone will have improved their game.

I didn’t eat the sausage but based on the price I assumed they were of decent quality. Sold out at the Hash and one guy, a German at that, came back for seconds. I got lots of compliments on my chili too.

Kev, well a large (growing?) number of women here are becoming obese–too much junk food I reckon.
Brian, normally rainy season is from early September through November. Usually a couple of typhoon type storms during that time. This year was actually quite dry up until the past couple of weeks. But then again, there ain’t much “normal” about the Philippines.
Soju, I hear you! It’s so Orwellian to want to alter history to suit the current political climate. Don’t despair though, I think that ordinary people get it. I know when there was all that clamor to change the name of the Redskins football team most native Americans surveyed didn’t find it offensive. I always took the helicopter names as honoring the tribes, I expect the natives do as well.

Yeah, for a country that has a rainy season half the year you’d think they’d have mastered the art of drainage. But nope, like just about everything else they take a half-assed “that’ll do” approach. It’s a good thing the women are so hot here. Just sayin’.

Well, the problem is the house construction. Windows aren’t the tight fit they should be. With the wind blowing the rain sideways, it comes right in. The drainage doesn’t seem to be a big problem up here in Alta Vista, but lots of flooding in parts of Barretto today.

Brian, I’d never used it myself but yes, folks took advantage of the facilities. It has tennis courts and basketball in addition to the pool. Heard tell of some wedding receptions there as well.

I’m lucky to be very regular and almost never have the urge to go after my morning ritual. One or two occasions off the Hash I had to pop into a hotel or gas station to use their facilities. I pee on trail frequently, but that’s different of course. Still, in an emergency, you could make like a bear and find a secluded spot in the woods. Hope I never have to go that route though.

Soju, yes I have pulled a very occasional tic off the dogs but never had one on me. It was actually one of my surprises moving here that the creepy crawlers and pesty critters are not more in abundance. The mosquitos are not nearly as bad as I experienced in Korea for example. The worst bites I get on trail are always from those damn ants. They are everywhere!

The simple answer to the “why” question is: because I can. Seriously, I’m a living, breathing male version of the species and a sexy young female is willing to fuck me, why should I say no? Alright, I found out (or more aptly, was reminded) of why paid for sex is not all that fulfilling. Well, she was filled, but you know what I mean. I had no aspirations or interests other than satisfying my urge. If I’m not going to have a girlfriend this is pretty much my only option. It’s just Mary isn’t good at it.
