Yes, we will tie a ribbon to the wire and put a big dose of powder on the ground to call attention to the hazard. You have to be careful though, I’m not the only one who’s gotten tangled up in that shit…not pleasant at all! Still, all in all, the barbed wire isn’t the biggest danger on the trail…it’s the slips, trips, and falls that will hurt you the most.
If you forgot I have dogs, I’ve been neglectful in posting their picture here more often…I’ll do better!

Kev, somehow I knew which side of this issue would fall on. I did smile when the English chap was defending the grammatical integrity of the language they invented as I recalled what you told me about the lack of commas in the UK.
Chip, I’m with you on apostrophe use, it’s just the way I was taught and it looks strange when someone leaves them out. I mean, if someone were arguing that it is okay informally to not use them, like on social media or messages, I could maybe be more accepting. But to say English has “evolved” and they aren’t required is a no-go for me.
BW, I’ve been told by several expats that a “transfer” is required but I’ve never really asked at the immigration office. I’ll get the “official” guidance before taking the next step. Thanks.

Well, the signage says “Hunter’s Jo”, but I probably get wrong because Hunter Jo’s just sounds more logical. It’s all pretty penible.

Good stuff, Kev. That’s the problem and/or the motivation: after walking 10K do you really want or need that bowl of ice cream that undoes all the good you’ve achieved? When I was seriously dieting, that’s how I talked myself out of the sweet treats.

I hadn’t noticed that, Brian. I do not count calories either and actually have no clue how the app does the calculations. I actually just look for consistency in the stats, and I seem to get that with things like number of steps taken or floors climbed. Maybe Kevin Kim will chime in with more info, he’s the master of caloric ins and outs…

The malls and some grocery stores are the only ones still requiring these ridiculous shields. What a joke.
I can get decent burger patties at the grocery store, but I was hungry after my hike/shopping excursion. Not hungry enough to enjoy that crap I was served though. No more Wimpy in my future.

Yeah, it’s too early for alcohol. Not that that stops me. Then come 5:00 (my normal start time) and I’ve already maxed out. Nothing to be done but to keep on it until quitting time.

I have no idea what Maris’ intentions are for the future. I don’t predict a bright one. I guess the realities of running a business didn’t match whatever her fantasies were.
I don’t want to paint with too wide a brush, but I’m starting to understand now why the cycle of poverty here is so hard to break.

Ah Maurice’s Piggie Park, that’s a happy memory! They opened a couple of smaller outlets with drive-thru in Columbia proper. One was near my house on Two Notch Road. I’d eat there at least once a week back in the day. Back in the day, they flew the battle flag over the state capital building as well. Times change.

QP, I met the 23-year-old in a regular “no take out” bar. The older woman is a friend of a friend who was widowed last year. Didn’t really connect with her on our first date yesterday, so I guess I won’t be seeing more of that smokin’ body.

Frank, no it is true. That’s out in the province and rents are always cheaper there. The same house near me would probably be a thousand or so a month. Still a bargain though! I really like that house but I like living close to everything and having other expats around, so I’ll not be tempted…

I’m really glad you are still with me. Yes, there was a time when politics was important to me, now I’m glad to be thousands of miles away from all the bullshit. I still see it here, but it is easier to ignore from a distance.

Didn’t spend any time with them, but they all appeared young (no more than 25 years old) and none of them were overweight. Pretty unusual really. I don’t understand why this bar isn’t doing better…
