Taking the day off

I’m not, Pearl is. So, I’m taking a day off from my usual routines to spend this rare free time with her. She spent the night again, we went out for breakfast, she is taking care of some business in Subic, and will rejoin me here at the house soon.

Not sure where we go from there. Talked about going out to Pundaquit, Zambales for another look around, but I thought starting so late in the morning would leave us rushed. I’m thinking we’ll go out to the old Navy base, walk around a little, and find a nice place to eat.

Anyway, I just wanted to drop this quick update now in case I don’t get the chance to do so later.

I led the Friday walkers group yesterday and things went well until near the end. We lost the trail in the overgrown thatch grass and walked in circles for a while. Eventually Troy was able to blaze a new path and reconnected with our trail. Nothing like a little adventure I suppose.

That line going right near the top was our ill-fated effort to find the trail down.
Otherwise, it was a nice hike with several moderate ups and downs.
We’re off!
Through the hood…
Steppin’ it up.
An Alta Vista view.
The start of another climb.
Into the wild.
A group photo op at the Four Corners intersection on the My Bitch trail.
Kate is tired.
The first big down.
Cookie recipients.
More kids, more cookies.
The beginning of our troubles.
Help us find a way down, Mother Easter!
Eventually, we did.
Safely back on pavement in Alta Vista.

That’s it for today’s post.

Not much, but something to lean on.

Back tomorrow with more.

  1. Of all the Abe Lincoln memes out there, that’s got to be one of the funniest.

Looks to have been a good hike, even with the added adventure.

And continued good luck with Pearl. There was an initial wobble, but I stand by what I said: a fight tests the fundamental strength of a relationship. If you judge that you got through the fight okay, then that’s a good sign. It’s gonna be weird, though, being cordial with “Dick,” even while you’re aware he’s trying hard to work on Pearl. I wonder if this is going to explode into open warfare at some point. Shouldn’t be a problem, though, assuming your intentions are true and your character remains solid. Pearl, if she’s got any brains, ought to respond to your superior integrity, and I assume she’ll make it crystal clear to “Dick” where her loyalties lie. Seems she’s already on that path, so here’s hoping for a bright future.

  2. Yeah, the situation with Dick seems curiouser and curiouser with each passing day. What was a failed courtship appears more like an obsession of late. He may finally have seen the reality of his failure yesterday after Pearl’s absence from work to be with me. I hope so.
