Plenty of fluids

Greetings from the land of all-day brownouts. At least they gave us advance warning that there would be no power today from eight until five, but it is still a pain in the ass. I’ve got a cold shower in my future. Luckily, I have my mobile hotspot so I can engage with the internets.

I paid a visit to Dr. Jo yesterday.
Swan reacts to the news that I won’t be dying anytime soon.

Well, I’m joking, of course. That’s Swan and my helper Teri in the waiting room. The primary purpose of my visit was to have my blood pressure medications reviewed.

I’ve been in the 140s and 150s since last month.

Dr. Jo prescribed some new pills to add to my daily collection. As I suspected, there is not much to be done with my COPD symptoms except to continue my current regimen of meds.

After the doctor’s appointment, Swan and I hoofed it down to Baloy Beach to spend some time on the floating bar.

Although Dr. Jo didn’t mention it specifically, it goes without saying that drinking plenty of fluids is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. I didn’t drink water, but I drank lots of beers ON the water.
Sun was still relatively high in the sky when we arrived.

(I just got a warning that my battery saver is on. We’ll see if I can finish this before my power is gone)

My companion
Today’s hike was on that ridge
A dance broke out amongst the girls.
And then most of the customers abandoned ship.
We stayed for this though
I drank too much and had a misunderstanding with Swan. We fixed it this morning…

Okay, no battery for additional commentary…here’s the jokes:

I’ll stay off this road!
Ouch!
That’s the wrong hole!

Back tomorrow when I have some electricity!

  1. I’d kill for your numbers.

I drank too much and had a misunderstanding with Swan.

This keeps happening. You don’t want to be the source of drama, friend. If this happens too often, Swan will elect to get off the roller coaster. If I had an emotionally unstable Significant Other, I know I would.

Just a thought: quitting alcohol makes you more emotionally stable and less prone to doing stupid things.

Anyway, I hope the meds work, and the COPD stays in its corner.

  2. @Kevin has wise words, but I think that you realize that. You are pretty self aware and I am sure that you know what is causing these mini-dramas in your life. But, you don’t seem to have the inclination or willpower to fix it. Maybe the drama is something that in some perverse way you enjoy. Definitely makes things less boring.

Just thinking aloud below, so take no offense. Swam seems like a nice lady, and women generally want security in their life. She is quite a bit younger than you and the odds of her outliving you are pretty high. As you move forward in your relationship, are you thinking (or as she discussed) how she may be taken care of after you are gone? (Relatively) Easy for a lady to start anew in her 20’s and 30’s. Not so easy when she would be in her 50’s or 60’s. (Though she does seem to be close to her family, so maybe that would be her support)

  3. “Well I’m joking, of course”. Hold on their one second McCrarey. Your helper Terri looks like she is ready to start bawling. That seems like a very real and reasonable response upon hearing you’re not leaving us anytime soon. I’m siding with Teri despite the years of enjoyment you have given me via your blog.

“I’ve been in the 140’s and 150’s since last month”
Here’s the deal Sir John. I went to public school in New Jersey back in the 60’s and 70’s. I didn’t learn much about History and definitely not English(fuggedaboutit). I learned about the mafia and gambling. I looked at your numbers McCrarey. Looks like you are “running numbers”. And so I must adamantly add that I would like to place 50 dollars on the Lakers to win.

“My companion” Your companion is lookin sexy.

    Peace Out!

  4. Addendum: I forgot to add.

Go ahead and take Weiner Cutoff road McCrarey. You know the old sayin, “No Pain , No Gain”.

  5. Thanks for your support, Soju. I think.

Your bet has been placed. You can collect whatever you win in person. Come to think of it, that’s like winning twice!

  6. Brian, no, I can live without drama. But the brief allusion to the misunderstanding with Swan is the exception other than the rule. Drinking wasn’t the cause, but it contributed to my making a bigger deal out of something Swan said that rubbed wrong than was necessary under the circumstances. I think this type of thing is inevitable in any relationship, and the most important aspect is we were able to talk it through and move on.

No, we haven’t discussed the future without me as of yet. Swan is very independent and doesn’t want to be reliant on my generosity alone. That’s why she took a crappy job. She is currently working on a deal where she will acquire the rights to a house that she can rent out for additional income. As we move forward I will consider making plans to provide something for her after I’m gone.

  7. Kev, you’d kill for my numbers, and I don’t want to die from them. I’m surprised your BP is still that high. You might want to consider adjustments to your meds as well.

The issues with Swan do not occur that often; perhaps they are nothing more than growing pains as we learn more about each other’s personality quirks. The important thing is we came to an understanding and have vowed not to revisit that particular path in the future.

Alcohol wasn’t the cause of the misunderstanding, but it perhaps exacerbated my reaction to Swan’s words. Sober me would have likely chosen to ignore them. Anyway, live and learn and grow. Beer is part of who I am and Swan doesn’t have an issue with it. I am my father’s son, and I will continue to carry on the family tradition of beer drinking. In moderation, of course.
