I took it to the limit

A 10K walk to Subic town and back was pretty much all I had in me, but I got it done. Well, everything except the purpose of the walk:

My efforts to replenish my cash supply proved fruitless.

I did take note of a new eatery nearby:

The name doesn’t entice me to want to give it a try.

I finished the walk at Sit-n-Bull and brought home an El Padre burrito as a reward for my efforts, fruitless though they proved to be.

The stats from the hike. I’ve got my pace back up to the twelve-minute per kilometer range again, albeit on a flat highway walk.
There and back again
Not a bad day’s work.

The highlight of the evening hours was dinner at John’s place with Swan.

We dined in the rooftop bar and enjoyed the view from there.
Pulled pork and wine for Swan.
A closer view of the best pulled pork sandwich in town.
I had a hankering for the Korean-style chicken wings.

I’ve had worse Saturdays, that’s for sure.

I live in that house in the middle, as seen on my Sunday morning dog walk.

I guess you have to give credit where credit is due, but Biden is doing the work of three men.

Hmm, why didn’t I think of that?

Anyhoo, another quest for cash this morning. I’ll share that adventure tomorrow. I also have the Sunday Hideaway feeding ahead of me, and I’m thinking a return visit to the Arizona floating bar might be just what I need. Stay tuned!

  1. Good luck on your quest for cash. I guess it’d be nice to have more ATMs in your area. ATMs that function, I mean.

Pulled-pork sandwich and chicken look good! How’s John’s health these days?

Congrats on getting your walking speed back up to 5 kph. That speed is just a pleasant memory for me.

Your music video appears to be unavailable. I’m guess it was The Eagles.

  2. My wife has been walking every morning at a local park for the last 3 years and since I retired at the end of last year, it’s been my goal to get back in shape so I could walk with her and do her distance and pace. I started going by myself daily in early June and the heat and humidity kicked my butt all summer but about a month ago, I finally got to the point where I could join her on her morning hikes.

We head out to the park every morning, 5 days a week, start hiking before 7, and do 8 1/4 miles in 2 hours, 30 minutes. Some of the steeper hills still kick my butt some but eventually (and hopefully), those will get easier.

  3. Good for you, Frank! I’ve found walking to be beneficial to both my physical and mental health. And it is great you have someone to share the experience with. Damn, 8+ miles in two and a half hours is impressive. Keep it up!

  4. There are several ATMs, but the BPI machines allow 20,000 peso withdrawals, the others are limited to 10,000 a pull.

I’m afraid John’s health isn’t so good. He does dialysis three times a week and needs a kidney transplant. I understand he is struggling financially, and I fear for the future of the restaurant. I hope the new year is kinder to him.

Yeah, it was the Eagles “Take It To The Limit,” but I posted a studio version rather than the live one you linked. I’m not sure what the issue is; it is showing on my blog.

  5. John,

    re: Eagles video

    The message I’m seeing says:

    So I suppose it’s a Korea thing.
