Getting around and about

Sad to learn this morning that a popular member of our expat community, Kerry Quinn, has passed away. At least he made it to his 80s. RIP, sir.

Kerry’s death is a timely reminder that our days are numbered, and when your number comes up, it’s all over. I’m not in a “live every day like it’s your last” mode, but I do try to appreciate that I can still do the things I enjoy, mundane as they may be. One of those things I enjoy is the Hash, and I survived another one yesterday.

The trail itself was familiar. In fact, the majority of it was a trail I had done three weeks ago, just in the opposite direction. So that downhill jaunt of mine became a moderately hard climb this go-round. The good news is that my lungs appear to have recovered from the phlegm infestation, and I didn’t experience any breathing problems during the Hash. I took the short-trail option, which came in at right around 5K, so I had no need to shortcut. All in all, it was a good day to be out with the Hash group.

Here are some photos from the event:

Hashers gathering at the VFW starting point for yesterday’s trail.
And we are On-On!
The climb began with some stair steps.
It was a lot easier coming down the steps than it was going up them.
Why would a bitch care about your vibe?
A view from the top of the stairs.
The stairs ended, but not the climb.
Nearing the top.

Nice to see you again, Mountain Mama Onelia.
Making our way back down.
Slow and steady, and don’t take a fence
Sorry, I’ve already found my Queen of Hearts.
The proverbial fork in the road, but I didn’t take it.
Arriving On-Home at Johansson’s.
The way we walked.
Holding court (and drinking beers) prior to the Hash Circle.
Some of the Hash Gash in attendance.
Time to Circle up.
It’s nice on ice!

As usual, we did an after-Hash gathering at It Doesn’t Matter.

And that’s how I rolled through another Hash Monday. Keep ’em coming!

From the November 2022 LTG archives, I had a “first date” with Lydell, the first first date I’d had in a long time. It seemed to go okay, but for whatever reason things didn’t go much further with her.

Today’s YouTube video is from Reekay, who talks about the tourism crisis in Panglao, Bohol. I very much enjoyed my stay there earlier this year, but it does appear that things might be going to shit lately. The guy I met there wants out and is now scouting around Barretto.

Yeah, I’m still posting this crap:

In all seriousness, despite my love of beer, I am vehemently opposed to driving under the influence. And Tiger Woods is rich enough to hire a driver, even if he is just puttering around. (Sorry!)
And then she flew away.
Damn, why didn’t I think of that?

Life goes on for me, so I reckon I’ll get on with living it. More to come tomorrow.

  1. I’m about the same age as you and I was always taught to treat women with with respect, so I’m not sure why you don’t? Anyway have a good hike or life or whatever

  2. Re: hash
You have mentioned that the number of foreign bar patrons in your neck of the woods has decreased and all bars seem to be hurting. Has the hash group suffered a similar decline in numbers from XX years ago? Or is there a steady influx of new blood?

    Re: 2022 post
Whatever happened to hops and brews?

    Re: Reekay video
Nice looking beach there, that is for sure.
