Over at Big Hominid’s Hairy Chasms, Kevin Kim shared his recipe for what he dubs a “dildo omelet”. Now, I usually just scramble my eggs because properly preparing an omelet is just too much of a pain in the ass. But Kev’s method of cooking one up was so fascinating I had to give it a try. You can follow his step-by-step preparation instructions at the link above, but here’s how I did mine in pictures:
I had never heard of preparing eggs in this manner. One of my Facebook commenters says they did eggs like this in Girl Scouts. Who knew? I’ll definitely be using this method in the future.

Amazing how well that works, eh? I really think it has to do with not frying in oil. All you’re left with is egg and cheese and seasoning.
I neglected to mention in my own blog post that I had the idea for sous-vide eggs, and when I Googled the concept, I saw that people had already done it (of course; it’s hard to have an original idea these days).

Never thought of this. Of course my wife is a great cook and does omelets well. She can flip a pan of whatever with the best.
However, I am going to try this shortly. She is holed up in the mountains because of a freak blizzard. Need to move in with you.
