At my Hideout

I visit the Hideout Bar on Wednesday and Sunday. It’s become my tradition to feed the girls and to give drinks to Joy during my visits. They all seem to appreciate it, and it’s a nice diversion from my regular routine. Hmm, I just asked myself how it’s different, and the best I could come up with is that I don’t usually buy dinner in other bars. Although sometimes I do. But not on a regular schedule, so it is a little bit different.

Joy always seems happy to see me.
The fried chicken from Chooks To Go was what the crew was hungry for.
And brownies for dessert.
Joy says, “yum!”

I had a tab to pay at Kamto, so once I finished at Hideaway, I made the walk across town to take care of business. I wound up finishing my night there. A couple of friends were there to chat with, I was handling DJ duties, and the staff was kind, attentive, and thirsty. Paid the 3000 pesos from Saturday and another 2000 for last night. Plus, what I’d spent at Hideaway. That’s big spending for me, but not really in excess of my budget. How do you put a price tag on a good time?

It’s Hash Monday, so I’m gearing up for today’s adventure. I didn’t do my usual Monday morning walk to Baloy, just wasn’t feeling it. I’m still working my way through season 1 of Manifest. It’s holding my interest so far, so there’s that. I am curious about what is causing the supernatural/paranormal events being experienced by the story’s main characters. The other relationship stuff is a little boring to me. Naturally, the story is being drawn out to fill in the episodes for the three completed seasons, with one more to come soon. We’ll see if I can hold out that long.

And oh yeah, I found this as an ad on Facebook:

I don’t click on ads, but I did on this one. It’s apparently one of those things you do by incorporating your own exercise routines. Too expensive for my taste (almost $200 bucks). Trophies and awards don’t interest me. Here’s a link to their website if you want to know more about hiking to Mordor.

Back tomorrow with a Hash report.

  1. As long as the troops are well-fed and happy, I guess all is well. Hope today’s Hash went swimmingly.

That LOTR thing reminds me: I need to look into Camino de Santiago apps. Not that there’s going to be much to plot: my buddy Mike says he wants to do only the final 100-some kilometers to Galicia—just enough to earn the compostela (stamped certificate), just enough to be able to say “I walked the Camino!” In one sense, I appreciate that Mike knows his limits and doesn’t want to do the full 800 kilometers. But I’m also a bit disappointed that Mike wants to celebrate our 60th birthday by doing only that distance. “Sad!” as Trump would say. I’m thinking I may have to go back and do the full Camino by myself.

Meanwhile, I agree that $200 is way too steep for a goofy Lord of the Rings challenge. Divide that figure by 10, and now, we’re talkin’. Or just invent your own adventure for free!

  2. Joy is quite a stunner. She seems to get all your attention.
Are the other Hideaway ladies usually occupied with their clients or do they usually stare as you and Joy have a good time

  3. James, Joy is the only one I drink with at Hideaway. The other gals there are friendly and always give me a warm greeting, but they don’t come around looking for drinks once I’m seated with Joy. I appreciate that! I’ve noticed a couple of them have regular customers, but at least during the time I’m there (usually an hour or two early in the evening), most of them are just sitting around waiting. I guess that’s why I started feeding them.

  4. Kevin, Yeah, I envy you that Camino hike. So, you can do the final 100K with your friend, get a feel for the lay of the land, then come back and do the rest of the trail on your own. Maybe you’ll even enjoy it more that way with no one to slow you down!

I didn’t read the details of what you get for the money the Mordor walk wants. I know there are medals and certificates. Also, they plant some trees as you achieve certain milestones. That’s all well and good, but just not worth it to me. The fun would be to imagine you are making that journey with Frodo as you do your daily treks, watch your progress on the map, and fantasize you are part of the Fellowship. Somehow though, the scam warnings went off in my head, and I wasn’t going to trust them with my credit card info.

  5. Great to hear that.
At least at this bar you’re appreciated. That smile alone means a lot.
I’m sure the others also get their favorite customers to entertain them at later hours .

Are there other bars on the side of town where Hideaway is ? It still fascinates me that one bar could be located so far away from the main strip , and be so well-hidden that only the true seekers can find it. And yet it’s doing brisk business.

Is the place near another of those subdivisions, or at least a residential area to get some customers coming in to make this their local watering hole at least.

Glad to see that you’re now fully back to enjoying your life after all the setbacks you had over the last month.

    Keep on keeping on

  6. James, just a couple of other bars on the far side of Barretto. There’s Redz Pub next door at the Arizona Resort and the upstairs bar at John’s Place across the street. A few blocks up the highway, you have Dynamite Dick’s, MacArthurs, and Blue Butterfly. Everything is relative, though, and in a small town, it’s not all that far to walk.

People tend to gravitate to their favorite spots, so if Hideaway is your hangout, you just spend your night there. I’m more of a barhopping type and get bored after a while. Most nights, I’ll visit at least three bars. I’m a walker anyway, but catching a trike is always an option for moving around town.

Thanks, it’s good to be “normal” again. As normal as I get anyway.
