Glad to know the typhoon didn’t hit hard where you were. Is it typhoon season now? I thought I saw a comment in which you said another storm was on the way. Man… there’s rainy season, then a brief reprieve, then typhoon season.
Then again, Wikipedia says:
“In the Philippine languages, tropical cyclones are generally called bagyo. Typhoons can hit the Philippines any time of the year, with the months of June to September being most active, with August being the most active individual month and May the least active.”
I wonder whether this year is an extended season. Anyway, good luck dealing with whatever the weather gods bowl your way.

The word “typhoon” comes from the Chinese tai-fun (颱風, stormy wind), which Koreans pronounce tae-poong.

I gather that this is the same tits-and-ass-loving artist who did the designs for your other shirts. He’s good. I appreciate his talent, and I’m starting to recognize his style.
Your character arc, so to speak, has been interesting since you arrived in the PI. You’re now the veteran guide who can redirect newbies away from nasty portions of a local trail and onto more reasonable stretches. Awesome.

Blackouts from power outages, and a brown-out with the death of Brownie. Alas. I hope things stabilize soon. Guess it’s too expensive and time-consuming to run the power lines underground, eh? Your ribs looked perfect! So did everything else, really, even if the muffins were a disappointment to you. Slap some butter and honey on them, and they’ll perk right up. Or turn them into bread pudding. I’ve done that before.
While the verb “braze” does exist (in metallurgy), I’m pretty sure you meant “braise,” which is when you sear something and then cook it by partially submerging it in a liquid. If the meat’s not actually in the liquid, it’s not braising.

Really sorry to hear about Central Park Reef. The mismanagement of the crisis is egregious pretty much everywhere. Here in South Korea, the leftist government had been managing the situation with a fairly light touch, but starting a couple months ago, there have been more restrictions on events and interactions, and there’s now talk of American-style penalties for people caught not wearing masks. This is insane, especially given how small the virus problem is here relative to other countries. Open it all back up, I say, and let herd immunity do the rest.

This is why you hyphenate phrasal adjectives that precede the nouns they modify. Whose “ass boulders” are that big? One can avoid ass boulders through thorough wiping.

You see and/or meet the cheerful, peaceful poor people, and you realize that all the claims about how poverty is linked to crime and terrorism are bunk. Why are there no Hindu international terrorists, given the state of poverty in India? People of a certain ideology use poverty as a cudgel to make what are ultimately false political points.
Yeah, I saw the news about Eddie Van Halen earlier today. 65 years young. The Wikipedia article on him says he lived a hard, self-abusive life, and as a result, he suffered from a series of nasty diseases and conditions, including diverticulitis and tongue cancer. Yikes. As Tyrell said in Blade Runner, “The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long.” RIP.

Ah.
As for tender ribs, you can cook them low and slow in the oven for a few hours. I can link you to a Chef John video if you’re interested (and Sam the Cooking Guy has a “homemade McRib” video that shows a low-and-slow technique). Easy process.
Oh, yeah: since you have a grill, I can link you to any number of Barbecue Pit Boys videos that showcase ribs.
You may be aware that there’s some dispute over what counts as “good” ribs. Sam the Cooking Guy and I both agree that “falling off the bone tender” is just fine, but many aficionados think the meat should still have some resistance to it at the end of the cooking process. I’m not so picky. And if “falling off the bone” is the standard, then there’s nothing wrong with doing your ribs in a slow-cooker. Type “slow cooker ribs” into YouTube’s search window, and you’ll get tons of results, I’m sure.
