Well, thank you for the tour! And I can experience your neighborhood in the air-conditioned safety of my office, without having to deal with heat and humidity. I’ll call that a win. Some of those houses do look really nice, but I just can’t see myself ever living in the PI.

Diet drinks can provoke the cephalic response, in which the brain signals the pancreas to produce insulin in response to the perception of sweetness. Insulin is a fat-storage hormone, so you can still get fat even with diet drinks. The aspartame in many diet sodas also breaks down into two poisons: formaldehyde and methanol, i.e , embalming fluid and the alcohol that can blind you if consumed.

Congrats on second place, at least. The game of darts is a fickle mistress. As for Joy… I say dump her if you’re on the brink of something more substantive, unless your craving for sex is so acute that you have to bang someone so as not to explode. A classmate in college used to joke about the condition he called DSB, short for Deadly Sperm Buildup, his term for blue balls.
Continued good luck with diet discipline. I feel your pain. For now, I’ve found that reading a novel in the evening—during my intermittent-fasting period, no meals between today’s lunch and tomorrow’s breakfast—distracts me from any food cravings (I’m reading Andy Weir’s Project Hail Mary; Weir wrote The Martian), but I do normally help myself by filling my stomach with fizzy water. I still generally avoid diet drinks, but I’ve succumbed to temptation a couple times. Sweet tooth.

So I gather the crispy pork was John Kim’s take on tangsuyuk. Nice. I normally ask for the sauce to be separate so I can retain the crispiness of the pork. Occasionally, I find a restaurant where they serve the sauce on the pork, but the pork still somehow remains crispy. Such places are rare.

You know the senility is setting in when you can no longer correctly pluralize “flies.” As in “butterflies.”

Chicken and cake both look good. I envy you. If there’s a keto carrot-cake recipe out there, I’ll find it. Carrots aren’t considered keto, but cream cheese is. However, the sweetener for the cake and frosting would have to be artificial. Might have to find a carrot substitute so that it become “carrot” cake.
Ah—I see lots of recipes online, most with actual carrots. I wonder how that works with all the carbs in carrots.
Rain, rain, rain, eh? That’s a pretty impressive streak.

I’m watching that Filipina Pea video, and I have to call bullshit on her claim that Filipinas fundamentally want companionship. In looking at your history with Filipinas, it seems they want money more than anything else, with companionship being very much linked to whether the money-spigot is gushing or dry. She talks about the trade-off that Filipina women are willing to make between youth and “a few more inches of waistline” if that means being with someone mature. On some level, that may be true, but from what I’ve seen through your eyes, money is the driving factor in Filipina-Western relationships. Or maybe she’s right, and you’ve simply been moving from one trashy woman to another and haven’t met a good-quality Filipina yet. Stay away from the bars, man. You’ll never find a good woman there. Unless low quality is your thing, in which case, plow away!
I do like, though, how what she’s saying would infuriate most modern Western women these days. Western women don’t want to be told they’re living in defiance of nature.

You’ll have to hone your radar when it comes to women who turn out to be parasites. For Joy, the only thing about her seems to be sex. Aside from that, she seems to be as parasitic as all the others. Jane seems more promising, based on what you’ve written, because she doesn’t have money needs. At some point, you have to stop fooling yourself and see clearly, which means not being distracted by your baser needs.

Well, rainy season is what it is, I guess, and sometimes, ya just gotta get soaked. Hats off to all of you for braving the rain. At least it’s a summer rain. Cold rain, I’ve found, is the absolute worst (like in the fall), totally sapping courage and morale.

Congrats on the perfectly-done steak. Yes, I’d like to see photos next time. I don’t do steak in my own apartment because I always fear the fire alarm. A steak done in a pan requires the pan to be “ripping hot,” as they say.

Those onions are definitely a deal-breaker for me. But the rest of the food looks good.
Sorry to hear about all the dead and dying. Life can be depressing that way, but at the same time, it’s a reminder that every moment is fleeting and therefore precious.
Don seems like a good example of the quality people you can meet in bars. Why hang out in such places? I don’t get the appeal.
Gonna be super-hot this weekend here, and as you know, my buddy JW wants to go hike along the Hantan River. I’m not really looking forward to this, but hey, it’s a chance to make an effort and maybe drop a kilo or so. Whatever helps with the weight loss.
