It has actually been my plan to walk to work most of the time. A) I really, really need the exercise and B) driving here is a real pain in the rear on all kinds of levels. For example, you are driving along in the left lane. Someone ahead stops in the right lane, and all the cars in the right lane just move over into the left lane. Those of us in the left lane either cross the center line, or “share” the lane with the interlopers. These people have no fear. I am more comfortable with a couple of feet between me and the car beside me, these folks drive with a couple of inches (or less) between mirrors and door handles. Well anyway, it’s a challenge.

Yeah, yeah, my politics don’t seem to be nearly as popular as my stories of this wonderful country and its people. I want to do more, but I need to get a life first. Moving off base next Friday should be a good step in that direction.

Ashley, the Koreans are a pretty friendly group by nature. They are delighted when you attempt to speak to them in their tongue and want to help you. So, they may ask you to repeat what you are saying until they understand you, then they will say oh, you mean olma-eyo (how much?) and I will ask them to say it again, and then I will repeat it back until I get a “ne, ne” (yes). So, in context it is not rude at all.
As to the signs in English, Seoul is probably the exception, not the rule. I understand that the ’88 Olympics brought a lot of Western influences here, but out in the country it is mostly the traditional Hangul.
Finally, I grew up in CA and I never heard of any Santa Mesa. Do you mean Costa Mesa or Santa Ana?

Carol, the first admendment protects speech against GOVERNMENT action. Had the US put Jordan on trial for treason (and it would have been a close call), then he might legitimately claim some first admendment rights. That he resigned under pressure for undermining the credibility of CNN has NOTHING to do with free speech.
Furthermore, you ignore the fact that Davos was not the first time Jordan had made these allegations. So, you can’t explain this away as a simple slip of the tongue.
Ashely is right in her characterization of Jordan’s conduct. If he has evidence of targeting by the US military, he has a duty to bring it forward. If he was just disparaging our troops in front of an international audience, resigning his position was the least he could do. I personally would have liked to see him agree to be bitch slapped by a couple of Marines.

Wally, I specifically said that every source is biased. It is denying the bias that is the problem. CBS and CNN should just proclaim themselves to be “Your Liberal News Service”. It is pretending to be putting out the news in a balanced fashion that is dishonest.
So the head newsguy of CNN is exposed as anti-military and borderline treasonous. Do you deny his bias does not potentially distort how CNN chooses to cover the war?
And the real point is that it was my biased sources who watchdog the media that brought the Eason story to light. The MSM did not think one of their own calling our soldiers murderers was newsworthy. And yet when General Mattis said a few weeks ago that he “enjoyed” killing our enemies, it was headline news. If you can’t see what is wrong with that (leaving aside what both men said, just the way the press chose to report/not report), then be glad media bias is not a big ol’ cottonmouth laying in your yard. You can’t avoid what you can’t see.

I’m not sure if I can peg euro yank, Carol. We have had some talks via email and he is very sharp and articulate. We don’t see eye-to-eye on many issues, but I think he would reject being labeled Moore-ish. He loves America too much for that. And he is no coward. I won’t say more because our emails were private, but I’ve got him on my blogroll and I check and see what he’s up to regularly.

Thanks, Ashley. I don’t know what pleases me most, you agreeing with me (mostly and this time)or that you are becoming addicted to blogs. That’s how I started. So, when will you be starting your own blog? You got the makings of a good one!
Back on topic, yes almost all blogs have a definite bias. But, unlike the mainstream media, we acknowledge ours up front. So, you can read and decide for yourself, while factoring in our particular slant on things.
Anyway, the most important thing is that you think for yourself. You don’t accept at face value the BS the MSM feeds you. Proud of you girl!

Sorry Ashley, I didn’t think about how a comment would result in an inadvertant viewing.
Robin, I sorta debated whether I should even post that photo, but in the end I decided that it was worthy on several levels, provided no one was forced to see it (hence my apologies to Ashley).
And burlybastaad, I am always looking for “fresh” content to appeal to the varied tastes of my massive readership. It is a thankless job, glad I found something you could relate too!

As to the body counts, I don’t get the sense that the press is keeping tabs to boost morale. Rather quite the opposite.
