Soju, I support States rights and I certainly do not believe in erasing our nation’s history. Many of the men on the Confederate statues did not even own slaves, they were fighting to defend their state. It is unfortunate that the Confederate battle flag has become a symbol of hatred, but that cannot be denied. If you want to honor Southern history, fly the Confederate national flag.
Those punks giving Nazi salutes are pathetic. Those punks in Antifa are every bit as bad. Americans should be able to disagree on issues without engaging in violence.

Yeah, I saw the Google take down. It really cracks me up that lefties are buying up copies of Orwell’s 1984 and not realizing that their shit is precisely what he was warning against. Ah well.
I should reach my financial goals by the end of the year. I’m not consciously dragging my feet and there are things that make my Korean life less than ideal. But if I carry my unresolved issues with me to the PI, then all I will have changed is the venue of my dissatisfaction. We’ll see.

Soju, you are right of course about the PC army. We even had a transgender recognition day just before the President dropped the hammer. But it seems that everyone is getting along for the most part. You can choose to play along or ignore, but as long as everyone is treated with respect (as they should be) we don’t have controversy.
As to the prostitution it’s been pretty much eradicated here in the ville. The only places where it appears likely is the singing rooms and I’m told they don’t let foreigners in. Haven’t had a massage down here yet…

Still a little vague, but “positive behaviors” would include completing mandatory training, engaging in professional development activities, a reduction in grievances, and getting better results on the annual workplace climate survey.
But first to find the baseline data, some of this stuff isn’t currently measured, Should be fun establishing the baseline.

Found a potential place tonight, nice gal from Africa who gave me good conversation and no drink pressure. It’s really a great bar, but empty (I was the only customer). She said the young soldiers only come in AFTER they have spent all their money at the juicy bars. Hmm. I’ve got some ideas on how to change that dynamic. We’ll see.

Haha, yes the juicy concept is the problem. Was just talking to a friend the other day who suggested I open the kind of bar I would like to patronize. Actually, I’m pretty sure I could make such a bar a success, but I have no interest in running a bar at this point in my life.
Leaving Anjeong-ri is really not an option. I’d have to cab it, not safe to drink and ride. Songtan is probably the best option in that regard, and it is 30 minutes away.
I think I will keep exploring, there is bound to be some bar here that caters to my tastes. If not, I’m just going to have to suck it up and institute a strict no lady drink policy. There are worse things than being ignored I reckon.

There will always be a small footprint around the Dragon Hill Lodge, and the Embassy will move to what is now Camp Coiner (north end of base), but I’d say 90% of the move will be complete by the end of next year.

No question that I’ve enjoyed my time in Seoul, but I also know it is time to move. Really, Seoul as a retirement option is not really viable.
There are good parts to the PI, I’ll be sharing them soon. AC has always been a depressing place to me.

You know, it doesn’t feel particularly fast to me. Back in Seoul I’d pass some folks and others would pass me. Here, I’m the only idiot out walking. I never see anyone.
Three hours in one setting is when I start feeling overworked. Yesterday I did a walk in to work, walked at lunch, walked off base in the afternoon to meet a friend, walked back in to work, and then took a long way (1.5 hours) home from work. It is easier when you break it up that way.

Yes, it can be a little boring, especially before the bars open at 6:00 p.m.
The base is booming and I’m sure the ville will grow along with it. Haven’t found any short time on offer at any price. Not that I’m looking.
Surprisingly, the air quality here has not been so great. Very disappointing.
