Go tell it on the mountain

Yeah, we met some Koreans on the mountain and they thought we were foolish not to have on ice cleats. Doubt I’ll buy any though, they won’t likely be useful in the Philippines.

Ghosted

Thanks for those words of tough love, Kevin. They are much appreciated. In my gut I know you are completely right. I’m not sure why I have a such hard time not caring for people I have cared about it. But you are right, neither has a place in my future.

Forward!

Done with the Philippines

Thanks, Brian. If the PI doesn’t work out, right now my back up is Cambodia. I haven’t been to Vietnam yet though…

Soju, Yes, definitely in Barrio Baretto/Olongapo (Subic Bay). Haven’t nailed down the actual house yet, but I’m looking at one I like on Baloy beach. It’s supposed to be available about the time I move.

Yes indeed, time to change my life (again). Plenty of fighting and carnage (i.e. broken hearts) along the road, but until death comes calling I reckon I’ll keep on keeping on. Valhalla might not be in store, but I’ll settle for what could pass as Utopia!

The first day of the rest of my life…

Thanks guys.

And so it begins. Again.

Thanks, Brian.

Vasterbottensost, have a great trip and thanks for your support…

The driver I hired for the trip to Subic took the picture. Felt bad for him because he had to sit there waiting for my delayed flight. Gave him an especially generous tip.

‘Tis the season!

Thanks, Jerry. Yeah, Dennis is back for more.

How’s retired life?

Out on the weekend

Thanks for the comment! Yes, you nailed it–WWD (work, walking, drinking). That’s my current life. Back before the wife bailed I did enjoy binge watching TV series, played in the dart league, and had a more rounded life (although I never was into crosswords or puzzles). I also lost interest in politics. It’s like I’m in retreat mode or something.

I have big plans for a change in lifestyle once I make the move to the PI. For now I’m just trying to make it through the day.

What’s cooking?

The two eggs fill the bottom of the pan which makes getting that perfect roundness easy. Call off the dogs!

I’ve upped my daily goals to at least 20,000 during the week and at least 30,000 on weekends. Weather permitting. If 50,000 ever happens again it will be inadvertant, not by choice. I was pretty sore today after the 40,000 on Saturday…

A river runs through it

Brian, yeah it’s hit and miss. Vaping isn’t specifically prohibited by law here, it seems to be left to businesses discretion.

I was told in Thailand that even possessing vaping equipment is a crime.

I actually have a couple of cones, but I can’t be fucked with getting out of the car and putting them up when I exit…

These days

Yes, I heard those bells too, Kevin. I checked with some Filipina friends and they say it is not that unusual for a Pinay to fall in love that fast, even with no meeting. Still, I will proceed with caution.

I’m not hoping for excitement Widow. I’d settle for no drama!

Landslide

Yes, that one day skewed all the stats upward for sure…anyway, it was a satisfying week. I’m back into the 20,000s this week which is more sustainable…

Carefree Highway

Thanks guys, appreciate the support!

You know, when I using a step counting app on the phone and with the fitbit, I take it all with a grain of salt. I don’t know how accurate it is in mileage assessment, but it is consistent. I can almost set my clock by when I reach the 10,000 step milestone…I’m always right at 7,000 steps per hour. Of course yesterday I was taking photos along the way, so that added to the elapsed time somewhat.

Anyway, it was a good walk and I’m glad I did it. Once!

C’est la vie

Kevin, thanks so much for the insights. I’m not planning anything near the Busan hike, would just like to break the 50,000 step barrier once in my life!

I’m planning on a long river walk (3+ hours) on Saturday morning. Then in the afternoon I’ll attempt another walk of similar length (probably into Pyeongtaek city). Add in the residual steps and 50,000 could be in reach. A limiting factor is the early darkness these days. It’s perilous walking in the dark down here. Poor street lights, bad sidewalks, etc. Usually during the week I confine my after work walks to a couple of nearby parks.

Thanks again for the encouragement!

» Posted By John McCrarey On 01/December/2017 @ 5:52 am

Hell yeah!

Thanks, guys. No residual impact that I’m aware of this morning…going to walk to work just to be sure….

A snowy Thanksgiving

Yes, it was a free gift from the company where I buy my vaping supplies.

Happy Thanksgiving to you my friend!

The Dating Game

Yeah, I like that idea of coffee. I wasn’t wanting to commit a whole night (let alone a whole vacation) prior to meeting.

Pride goeth before the fall

Brian, I always pay in KRW, but I believe most bars operate on a 1 for 1 exchange. I often see soldiers paying for their drinks in dollars, which is a good deal for the bar.

Walk on!

Oh, I’m just reporting what the FitBit says, I certainly don’t feel like I’m moving all that fast.

In other words, you want to throw me to the wolves! Give ’em time, they’ll find me.

Turn the page

Widow, it must be God’s plan, right?

Kevin, funny but that song came up on my play list while I was walking and did trigger me thinking of writing this post. But later on I heard “End of the Line” and it seem to fit my mood too.
