I am not sure about this Blue Butterfly, without re-reading your bar reviews I’d hazard a guess and say it’s not one of the highly-rated, or maybe is the one with all the live music. 🤔 Either way, it won’t hurt to get another regular hangout spot into your rotation ; especially after the cold shoulder from patrons at your dart bar .

We all know your feelings about the covid situation.
Hopefully, you don’t experience the full effects.
In the event that you feel better, allow me some vitriolic abuse aimed towards your recent behavior.
Much of it is what you’ll be thinking or feeling, but a stranger on the internet has the appropriate words to convey.

‘ a sister of a friend’s girlfriend ‘ is already quite convoluted. That the person was instructed to contact you to buy a birthday cake 🎂 for such a stretch of an acquaintance confirms my suspicions.
You’re the mark, the sap , the simp, the bank that grants loans never to be repaid, the schmuck, the village idiot, the walking ATM. As soon as I read the first line of your paragraph I knew you’d get no word of thanks . She just whistled and expected you to come , with the cake 🎂 no thanks necessary 😒 That she even deemed it important to talk to you when you delivered the cake 😉 is in itself amazing . People don’t usually show gratitude for an obvious expected act.

But you’re a happy sap…a relatively rich sap. In fact , you willingly partake in this hoodwinking simp behavior… I guess I should congratulate you for staying consistent. Your friends , foreign and local, are now comfortable enough to refer strangers to you to get financial help. The bell 🔔 has been rung ; you’re the schmuck people can come to for easy money 💰 🤑
The fact that you’ve been having such a lousy experience in bars with people whose job it is to pretend to be polite to you because you literally pay for their company 😒 🙄 That is a different level of sadness 😔

Now you’re gonna plan an elaborate way to avenge this slight ….by not visiting the said bar for a few months, and not responding to the pleas of the lady, but you’ll definitely be charitable to her cousin’s boyfriend’s sister 😉
You’ll angrily walk past the bar for the next few weeks, and the withholding of your money from the establishment will give you solace . Then all will be forgotten and you’ll visit again, with the same results.

I would like to end this diatribe with a positive message ☺️

But I was jumping off from your mistreatment at the hands of the bargirls at several of your favorite drinking holes , and how you responded by purposefully ignoring the offending parties on your subsequent visits.
I guess it’s not so much vengeance as much as it is the customer’s right. Of course, your generosity in the bars is already quite high 🙄 so any reduction in your expenditure is quite noticeable.
Nevertheless, your battles with these kinds of things really fascinates me.

As to the recent encounters with your former lover and the Dick , do you think there’s a mental health issue at play ? I mean, there’s a level of obsession and idiocy that permeates the entire persona of this individual. Or maybe it’s just the obvious rampant alcoholism combined with the adled brain. Somebody needs some hobbies , and maybe a friend or 2 , or to adopt a stray cat .
Come to think of it, I am now starting to think you with your lonesome habits and lifestyle are the most sane person in your town.
Other than Dave the businessman, not many of the expats that you write about seem to have planted genuine deep roots in the place you all call home. Even he is involved mainly on the business side of things, and spends his time traveling to other locales for many reasons. I guess that’s the real meaning of semi-retired life : the ability to freely relocate coupled with the rather shallow connections to any one place.

As your readers, we all look forward to a time when you start traveling to other places . The stories you tell from there will be just as exciting, but with new characters.

Well, ‘old’ is probably not the best way to put it.

I’ve always admired how your life is so driven by a sense of vengeance. You never forget a slight , whether real or imagined.
It’s almost as if that’s a primal driving force that has led to many of your life’s successes. Revenge is as good a motivation for success as any , probably even better than most.

One day I’d like to read about your stellar career in the government…at least the non-classified version of it. I imagine that you were a tough but fair negotiator, and an inspiration to many in your organization. That would be a good trip down memory lane.

In the meantime, there’s plenty of ale to be consumed in your neighborhood, and a lot of lasses to be ogled.

Is not consuming beer 🤔 a little difficult for you? I’m not a drinker so I assume all alcohol is the same in terms of giving you excitement. But it seems like your behavior on beer and on whiskey is different, and you’re struggling to enjoy your nights out as a result?

As for the water weight
A wise man told me that you’d need to increase your water intake in order to lose water weight. It’s counterintuitive: you drink more water 💧 on your daily exercise, and you’ll lose more water weight.
And an even better way to lose weight is to drink 2 cups of water before your meals. And if you want to keep having that buzz from alcohol for a longer time: drink 1 cup of water with every alcoholic drink.

The person who told me this did lose a lot of weight with this water 💧 diet….but he also took up cycling 🚲 so that helped.

Rather be the doting grandfather instead of the lucky old randy man who spends time with girls who are young enough to be your granddaughter.

In any case, she doesn’t really have an interest in your fun adventures except for the occasional visits. But maybe if you were more adventurous in your travels, jumping into volcanoes 🌋 or camping overnight in the middle of the Arctic circle….

Speaking of comforts, you’ve been known to crack a few risqué jokes even in the company of ladies. Do most of them get your humor? The westerners will probably understand the jokes, and they may laugh uproariously but I think maybe the ladies might giggle 😃 in politeness rather than genuine mirth. But then again, who could tell the difference 🤔

This Joy, is the second Joy you have become entangled with. Seems to be she’s your number 1 on this FWB pole .She just may be actually the happiest relationship you have had on those shores. By that I mean she’s quite happy with the arrangements and she’s very much in control of the happiness faucet. She calls 📞 when she needs the happiness, and you respond. Unlike the others whom you keep at arm’s length, you have a modicum of fondness for her.
I’m sure her husband also appreciates your fondness and the joy you will bring for the family 👪

Second comment is to commend you on your style. In all the pictures I see you shun the casual tropical look of a ratty T-shirt and old rumpled shorts with sandals, and especially the sleeveless shirts that your friends and foes may wear.
Instead , you either have a buttoned T-shirt with a collar or even a regular shirt as if you’re going to the office on casual Friday. I’m impressed. If I didn’t know any better ,I would say that the military life has given you this formal dress sense and you don’t do it just to impress the ladies.

Of course, everything goes out of the window when you’re required to wear the colorful Hash shirt to show off your beer belly. Now that is definitely to impress the ladies, and the results speak for themselves…..anybody yell out your name on the main road recently 😀 👏? Or just in general 😀 😉

My favorite line of this entry : You’re finally tired of questioning your lifestyle or your motives. Some say a sense of moral/conscience/guilt is important 👌
But it does hamper one’s enjoyment of life.
Rich happy people never talk about karma 🙄 Only jealous bitter people are always harping on about karma and whether they really should enjoy that one more beer 🍺

My question to you today is : why not promote Joy to your number 1 FOB ? I have a friend who set out to achieve certain goals in life and career. The friend hit all those milestones at a relatively young age, then was struck by the realization that Failure to achieve goals and achieving all one’s goals has the same effect . You sort of drift along, either giving up because it seems against the odds, or being lost 🤔 because all goals have been met.

You have worked hard all your life. And now you can put up your feet and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

I forget. Did we ever get a story of why you elected to live in the Philippines rather than Korea? We know the how : a long saga that earned you the ‘ Technically, I’m still married to my third wife’ T-shirt. .. but why ?

With your generous pension you could still live a decent life in Korea 🇰🇷, and enjoy the unique 4 seasons ( only country with such an invention 😉 👅 ), and drink that strong ale in green bottles 🍼, not quite vodka but a spirit nonetheless.
Yet you chose to forego all that and settled on the archipelago.
Second part to my question: if South East Asia 🌏 and its fruits is what drew you there , why not Vietnam or Thailand? I heard that the melons 🍈 👀 Pattaya are bigger 👀 😳 🤔

As to you your conservative leanings, I’m as loathe to discuss politics as much as I abhor chatter about horoscopes. My comments often take the form of a question as I am quite the ignorant fool 🙃

I see a few solar panels in one of your pictures 📸 of course there’s more of spaghetti mish-mash of electricity power lines above the houses , and that utility pole in the middle of the street on the main road still makes me smirk.
I’m guessing that the initial investment in solar panels is quite high, but would be perfect for those brown-out days or when a storm takes out the entire grid. And Philippines probably has more days of sunshine than Alaska. Who’s the rich guy with those solar panels and when will u join him in making the jump

Also, glad to learn that I was way off. So a good 300 ~500 dollars would be ideal. Turns out it’s not that much cheaper after all.
This may well be a situation in a small rural poor part of middle America, or a gritty inner city area 🤔 and I presume a modicum of pride is what keeps her entreaties infrequent enough and only when the need is immediate.

I would like to hear your thoughts on finances in Barretto. Didn’t Joy just get an infusion of cash recently? I was led to believe that amount would be equivalent to a month’s salary, and a wiser woman would’ve saved a few dollars to treat herself to dinner.
But then again, being a single mom with a fairly large family is not easy. Are most of your friends not only raising their children but also bankrolling some boyfriends and unemployed uncles ?
Looks like a tough life for a young gal.
