Premonition

I hope it’s good.

Bullock, IMV, has made a lot of junk movies since she hooked up with abd married that motorcycle tattoo freak.

Just my opinion.

What, me worry?

Me too, everybody.

John,
As usual, your gentlemanly apology is unnecessary…. if anything my own comment seemed a bit knee-jerkish in the re-read…… and sounded like you were saying it was my opinion when you really weren’t.

So, I’m the one to apologize……and am quite sure you are taking things there seriously……. even so, life goes on, as progressive life underway in ROK clearly shows – that’s got to be another thorn under the saddle of the IL, Mr. K.

In any case, given the events of the day it’s a good discussion, even though we, your bloggers, still don’t know for sure what your ‘time for a change’ implies.

No worries.

Please delete the first post error, above.

Thanks for the attention, John, but a couple of things.

– first, you haven’t connected your dots…. meaning…….this change you introduced and are talking about….is it regime/leadership change or is it something else…..??

– Second, N offense I, but the commentary I posted is not MY view…..I just reported it, though certainly, I do note that events seem surely to be drifting, as it were, in the direction of the prognosticator.

Two things auger in favor of escalated confrontation, in my only partially informed view:

– first, the oft and duly noted point that the NORKs have never, make that never-ever, honored ANY commitment they have ever made…..they have stuck it in the eye of the free world, the US and Japanese, primarily, but by extension, everyone else too….. every single time any circumstance has permitted – truth recognized, they have NEVER honored the armistice since it was initially signed, so by saying they reject it now is just rhetoric more than anything else. Yes, the free world has given billions, that’s billions with a B, to them and gotten zero good will in response. So why is this, we always ask……. which brings me to my second point….

– which is, that the regime is ruled by insane people at the helm, reinforced by perks for the top tier and brutality down the line….no exceptions, ever. What is the old saying…… the definition of insanity is: doing the same thing over and over and expecting change. Well, by that definition it would potentially seem that the free world is acting insanely, too, in dealing with the certified idiot in the north. But one thing seems sure, and it is the primary bit of this second point – namely, that when you are dealing with a psychotic, Def: break from reality…. nothing is unexpected and anything is possible. Kim and his blood-line are insane and it’s probably genetic, but whatever the cause it doesn’t matter – the end expectation is that he and “they” are truly capable of any heinous act, even one that might bring their own demise. IMV after decades of threats and provocations and preparedness by them, it’s even probable. Shakespeare wrote plays about it hundreds of years ago in his observations of the human condition, even – so one could say it may even be inevitable.

I spent four years in Korea and though I understand your point that when ‘in country’ you tend to take the NORKs actions with a grain of salt, so to speak, and life goes on…. but up close or farther away, the truth is the threat is very real, IMV, and never in greater potential, STM, to serious hostilities from the north than now. The proximity of Seoul to the DMZ has always been a bad situation, as everyone knows, but after the NORKs development and acquisition of nukes and some form of reasonably reliable delivery system, a very grave circumstance, indeed. Over the years there have been many, many initiatives to deal with this issue, none which have really come to fruition, as you know. This is really the key thing and the psychopath in the north has that single point well memorized.

Thanks for listening.

Nada y nada

Warning – very longish, here.

Ok. Here’s one for ya, John.

As heard on Coast to Coast AM. (www.coasttocoastam.com), probably a month or so ago, an interview of the somewhat famed ‘remote viewer’ Major Ed Dames, USA, (Ret). Ed predicts, via multiple remote viewing the future ‘hits’ from amongst his Matrix Intelligence Agency staff and many students of his program, too many to count, that a major event is going to occur on the Korean Peninsula within six months of the programs airing, which would make it more like within maybe four months or maybe even less from this point in time. Specifics of the situation are not revealed other than to say that many, many lives will be lost among South Koreans to include many 8th Army assigned personnel/forces. Speculation seems to center on the probability of a ‘fairly small yield’ nuke, maybe, from NK into probably the Seoul area. This strike, it was predicted, will result in prompt and complete retaliation against the North (probably by combined US/ROK forces) resulting in pretty much cessation of NK as it is formally constituted currently.

So, there you have it. When these predictions were made it is worth noting, K J IL was still recovering from a probable stroke and none of his spin-up in missile firings, nuke testing’s, suspension of the ‘Armistice’, etc, had yet occurred, nor had, obviously, the more recent capture (kid-napping) of the two Asian journalists, their trials and subsequent sentencing’s or other incidents of intrigue. So, these things noted, events would seem to be moving in the direction of, certainly, some form of confrontation, surely evidenced, as well, by the recently announced leadership changes and the greatly ramped-up saber-rattling that is going on currently. You can check it further by going to http://www.learnrv.com, which is Ed Dames’ web-site or can do a general search on it and will surely find more details than I have cited here.

As a final note, Ed Dames is indeed a former USArmy, now retired, Intelligence Officer and now CEO of the somewhat successful organization named the Matrix Intelligence Agency – the MIA employs these remote viewing techniques and skills under contract, to learn and predict all sorts of things for it’s clients – apparently has a great track record and has made a ton of money too. Back in the 80’s Ed was an original member of a cadre of Army personnel who took part in a highly classified USA pilot program which was then called ‘Stargate’ – true story. The program was held at DIA and was very successful but was subsequently disbanded apparently due to political pressures, which would not surprise me in the least – it was subsequently declassified, as well, obviously. At the time I was a USAF Intelligence officer and visited the DIA regularly for many, many conferences and meetings, but I never heard of this program till about three years ago and after the emergence of ‘remote viewing’ as a ‘taught discipline’. Remote viewing is a technique whereby the future is discerned through a strictly controlled protocol of psychic-type concentration – it apparently taps into the universal consciousness we are all a part of, yeah, really, and by every measure I’ve been able to discern, it indeed truly seems to work.

Yeah, even vocalizing, these things seems probably a bit over the top and probably hard to believe. And of course, I’m not trying to convince anyone, simply reporting what I have listened to and looked in to, and the potential linkage to the ‘time for change’ blog entry of John’s.

So, as we used to say back in the day, I guess we can all ‘hide and watch’. Since I listened to the original program back a couple months ago, I’ve had one eye sort of trained on the subject, waiting and watching the drift…….. given the unfolding events, nearly daily almost now, seems to be something there, something to it, I would have to observe. There were numerous other quite interesting and some would say even profound ‘predictions’ made during the program, as well……..which I won’t go in to here, but the mention of the Korea thing seemed worth a comment. Hey, stranger things have happened.

Regards to all,

(John, if you send me a mailing address via email I will send you a CD recording of the program which was aired, probably in late March, near as I can remember, maybe early April, so you can hear it for yourself. Hey, given your mention of the time for change topic and your proximity to the subject at hand, you may well be way ahead of me/us on this anyway.)

Catch and Release

Thanks for the reviews, John.

No time for movies just now. You’ll see less of me (in this case, less may be more) as I pack and transport to the FL west coast. We’ve been in a horrible drought for probably two years here in FL, rationed lawn watering etc, and wouldn’t you know it. As soon as I start carrying furniture to the trucks we get a ‘resident’ low over the whole of south FL and it rains, daily, from 1 to 3 inches at a clip. at least the temps haven’t been that bad with overcast skies and maybe we’ll be able to overcome this drought condition finally.

I keep telling myself, it would be worse – like 95 in the shade, so I’ll tough it out.

Hang in there and keep the excellent blog entries coming.

Tournament report

Just about enough and just about a perfect report. One question though? Who’s the Saprano’s lookin dude in the red-sleeved tee-shirt? Tell-eem if he can’t beat his opponents throwing, then just snarl a bit and show’em his piece – that might help some.

All joking aside, a comment on your Sammy Davis look-alike. One thing that I have marveled at in my travels, particularly in Asia, is the dozen or so times I have encountered people from Korea, China, Japan, the Phil, whereever, who were the spittin-image of some American acquaintance or friend of mine, but were an entirely different race, obviously. Really has given me pause and makes me reflect on the human physiological condition and wonder if the Big Guy is havin fun with us or what.

Along those same lines, we have a huge Flea Market in the local area called Sunrise Flea Market, in Sunrise FL, obviously, and I get over there probably once a quarter or so. They sell and barter everything under the sun and some good buys can be had for a careful shopper. There’s one particular stall that sells deeply discounted watches, and some are so cheap it makes you wonder where they are coming from – these are not knock-offs either. The stall is run by a nice woman from Iran who enjoys me stopping by because she says I look exactly like a good friend of her’s back in Iran and when she sees me me it’s almost like seeing him again. I always offer her my apologies and ask her to pass on my condolences, if ever, and the payoff is that she gives me a ‘preferred’ price on any watch I might find I can’t live without.

Anyway, still blows my mind.

So, John, when are you gonna do the comments on they Korean work ethic???? If it’s gonna take too long you might consider doing it in an email or a word document to yourself, then cut and paste it to the blog when you’re done. Not tryin to tell you how to run your business, but sometimes works for me.

And congrats on a great season – you have a great hobby going there and I wish you the best season ever, one coming.

Regards,
Dennis

Well, I guess I ought to post something.

Well, crapola, John. At least you’re tryin.

As for me, since everyone cares so much, I just came back from Clearwater, FL, the other side and up a little, as it were. Location in Tampa of USCENTCOM and USSOCOM, you probly know……. and I bought a new home there. A foreclosure, and got a good deal……. 220K…… pretty much all I ever wanted in a home so am hoping it goes through without any hitches.

There are currently about 1200 foreclosures in Clearwater alone. Hard to believe. Actually, the one I bought was not forecloses due to job loss or economic downturn, but probably just as bad. Seems the wife of the owner got real sick and they had to bail. Great home though and you, John, are hereby invited to come for a visit and stay long enough to teach me darts, at least……. or until you get sicka me, whichever is first. No OB here though, so we’ll think of some substitute.

Hang in there and keep your fingers crossed for me. USAA is underwriting the note as we speak, so it should go well, hopefully.

Regards to all,
Dennis,
Still in FL, but missing the Ville…..(at least in nostalgia)…

The Civilization of Maxwell Bright

Oh, my goodness, where to begin……???

Back in town, John, and to find, no less, your awaited review of this flick, mainly rendered no doubt, to quiet my bleating heart.

Well, good on you for whatever reason, true story. I somewhat enjoyed and was certainly enlightened by your take on the flick, and learned something in the process, like how fricked up our given opinions can be and maybe how our own bias’s might figure in.

Now for the real meat. I have to say that I totally, well not totally……… maybe completely………. well, maybe not that either……..maybe, pretty much, yeah that’s it……..I pretty much disagree with your assessment, sadly so………..none the less. I was stupidly counting on your enthusiasm, which is an uncertain thing by any measure, and when measuring others, certainly.

I’m not gonna prick-apart, (pun intended) so very totally where I disagree with you but might make some points, or at least try to……..and except to say that you missed the proverbial ‘bubble’, IMV, in that the flick was not about any of that blather……..yes, blather you wrote………. blather……. good word, that……fit’s I think too……..but was about coming to know one’s self when every normal opportunity to do so is completly obscured by cultural debris, such that, absent devine intervention it hasn’t much chance of happening at all…….gorgeous devine intervention……. and not just physically……………. how deluded we can be by social pressures, and how our culture is totally fuxked up by the headlong pursuits of materialism and self-centeredness……. and how old, ancient even, cultures pretty much figured this out thousands of years ago and yet…….. here we are……. chasing our beers, our good times, our neat stuff, our dollar jobs and how big they are…… and our this and that and the other…. yeah, missing the bubble….the bubble of what really matters…….. My goodness John, how could you have missed the lessons of the Tibetan Book of the Dead…???…. and of the shaved head, and of the pre-positioned coffin……….and of the gloriously peaceful and redeeming and forgiving and overcoming and wisdom-laden nature of the gorgeous, former Buddist Nun (and once ordained, always ordained, did you know?) Ms. Bright….?? How could you, dude? Obviously brain-damage from too many darts, yeah, that it…. the darts…….

In any case, no offense intended…….. and if you haven’t yet blocked my access to your site after this dressing down……. well, then, I’ll go further…… watch it again……….and maybe again…..this time take the time to do so…..and maybe have a significant other beside you, if there is one……and solicit…….and more importantly, listen to her observations………….

In any case, forgive my enthusiasm whether it fits or not and above all, thanks a ton for trying to satiate me with your effort…. I shall herewith give up on movie suggestions…. if you had that planned in this whole process you, I admit, are far more capably adept at execution of a well-laid plan than I have ever been able to before observe.

So, I’m thinking of sending this entry by personal email to you, versus this blog entry. I’ll decide after this next beer……. or two……

In any case, thanks, I think, for trying with this movie. I learned something here…..and maybe something else too.

Regards,

(((And BTW, art house cinema is always grainy and un-pristine………….that’s part of the cache’………….true story, ………….as in, we did good, in spite…….so to speak…………. and please forgive any lack of humility or in the obverse, arrogance and pontification on my part………… any present is only poorly disguised put-down and solely egocentric, I assure you))).

Heartbreaker

READ THIS FIRST:
I just realized you don’t have to download any keepvid utility all you have to do is go to http://www.keepvid.com and pasgte the url of the video you want to keep in the box provided, then click download. It will download at high or lower speed, depending on your selection, and ask you where you want to file it. Tell it where, then go back there and get it to try to link it within your blog.
If none of this works at least you’ve got a cool new application for saving interesting video clips you were never able to save before.
Regards again,

» Posted By dentoku On 13/May/2009 @ 8:40 am

Just for the record, I get it too but not for every one, just most of them.
You need to try to google it and find the solution.

Probably something to do with video-link file-protocol. Might have to get a file conversion program, probably can find it free online or at kimcomando.com, if not buy it for a few bucks. Then convert whatever video you find you want to post to a more popular format such as a windows file or another common one. I hope this is not too confusing.

It also might be something to do with your blog hosts default programs which may want to convert everything to one which is part of their system, but this is just guessing.

Another thing I would try is this: go to keepvid.com and download their protocol. This will allow you to save any video clip you find on the internet to a folder of your own designation in your file system for playback or use whenever you want it. Then when you find a file you want to post a vid, save it to a file on your computer using the keepvid protocol. Once it is saved, copy and paste it to your blog using the system you have for that.
Just a shot-in-the-dark suggestion, but what I would try first. Hope this is not a wild-goose-chase.

Hang in there.

Hey John,
I had kinda lost the bubble on when your c’ships were being played and somehow thought it was already over. But that’s probably not too bad from maybe 15,000 miles away, I’m thinkin.

Sorry for the tough ending, but you guys played ahellofa season.

Hang in there and good lookin out to your new team for the next season.

Regards from Clearwater.

Next

BTW, John,

Count yourself, IMV, fortunate to be out of touch with the ‘popular culture’ in America. I firmly believe that, cumulatively, it is strongly contributing to escalating the decline in our culture and way of life. No BS.

Just my .02c, but don’t get me started.

» Posted By dentoku On 08/May/2009 @ 10:07 pm

John,

Neither your reviews, your photo’s nor your blog commentaries suck…….dude. They’re the essence of LTG.

Your first flick above, Next, made the rounds on cable TV and I saw most of it there a while back. I found it somewhat interesting but not majorly so. Cage seems to be choosing the off-beat sorta flick these days – almost like he’s carved out a little niche in that genre for himself. I saw a bi-opic on him recently where he apparently owns 5 or 6 castles around the world. Strange dude, kinda.

Haven’t seen the other DeNiro movie yet but will look for it to show up. I was formerly a subscriber to Comcast cable TV and hi-speed internet here in FL. Comcast had taken over a substantial portion of the US cable market, seems, but as might be expected, their customer service zucked big time and was all but unusable – so I switched to ATT U-verse about a month and a half ago and I can’t believe the difference. The ATT cable TV/internet customer service is the best I’ve ever encountered in any such endeavor and the service seems, for the first time in life, nearly worth the buck. It’s all fiber-optic to your neighborhood, then only copper from the switch box to your home so the result is the clearest TV pic I’ve ever seen. Don’t even need HD, but the package I subscribed to includes it anyway. Comes with a Digital recorder/Tuner on the main TV and after you record a movie (can record up to four programs simultaneously) you can access and watch it from any other TV in the house – to include, pause, fast forward/reverse etc, and if you stop watching it then go back later it askes you if you want to resume from where you were – quite cool. I’ve never before been so pleased with a cable TV service. The accompanying internet has speeds of up to 18Mb per second, download – I’m currently subscribed to 10MbPS and it’s faster than Comcast ever was at their highest speed and since it’s fiber optic it doesn’t bog down under user-load.

So now you know state-of-the-art in cable TV in the States, more or less.
Bet that makes you really happy.

Can’t wait to see what you think of Maxwell Bright. I’ve downloaded it to the U-verse digital recorder and trying to figure out how to make a copy on my DVD tuner/recorder/home-theater.

So John, your dart team the champeen’s, then?

Ok, then. I’m OOT for next 10+ days to the FL west-coast (Heidi’s vacation) to assess a move to that area, potentially, so you won’t have me nosing around for awhile.
Best regards and hang in there.

Thanks John.

The Sunday midnight, (USA) Sundance channel Asia Extreme movie was titled: 6ixtynin9.

No foolin.

But it had nothing to do with the obvious implication of the title – (more to do with apartment numbers).

It was a Thai movie, the third or fourth they’ve shown in the past couple of months. Fairly well done too.

It was about a woman of average looks etc, who lost her job in a finance company due to the downturn in the Asian financial markets that occurred a few years ago. She returned home nearly suicidal in dejection to find a box of money in front of her apartment door. It was a misdirected pay-off for a sports fix by the Thai mafia but it was delivered to her place in error due to her apartment number being upside down. The movie traces her struggle with whether to return the money, call the cops or to hide the potential windfall and try to somehow keep it. Of course, she tries to hide it and keep it but goes through one horrible situation after another as she dodges this and that surly character bent on recovering the money, and in the process, totally screws up her life and potentially her future too. Some pretty bad things happen, which leads her to make some choices that lead to a surprise ending. I’d give it a 4 star rating. English subtitles over spoken Thai.

Points of interest for me:
1. I was able to understand alot of the movie dialogue having learned alot of the Thai language during my tour of duty at Korat RTAFB in Central Thailand during the war; this pleased and surprised me but it wouldn’t be something anyone else found any where near as much fun, even so.
2. One of the more humorous scenes was when a bunch of Thai girls discussed the various ways they planned to get even with their cheating husbands and boyfriends. The most interesting technique was to cut it off, blend it and make a spicy Thai meat salad, then, acting all innocent, call the offending girlfriend of the offending dude and invite her to lunch. You get the picture. Euuuuuu! Would definitely make a man think twice, huh? ((That cut-off technique, BTW, is famous in Thailand. Guys were encouraged to learn to sleep on their stomach’s, particularly when in a disagreement with their wives or girlfriends or after having imbibed a little too much.))
3. The movie provided a really great picture of the infrastructure of Thailand as it exists today – business districts, living conditions in apartments and homes and etc……. – a pretty modernized country all in all. And of course there were the occasional glimpses of the famous Thai beauty which I found in my experience, many years ago, to be like none other in the world.

All in all, a movie worth watching particularly if you’ve ever visited or done duty in Thailand. I was fortunate enough to have done so and I have to admit I left a little piece of my heart there, and not attached to any woman, though there were good memories there too.

I absolutely did not mean to hi-jack your thread if I have done so – so if I did, just shout me down and I won’t mention anything about movies again. – and/or edit or delete, as appropriate, and I won’t be offended.

There’s a new kid in town…

Hey John,
Good to have you back. Looks like you had a great trip.

Here’s a too-long post for your blog:

As you speak of the long flight across the pond it calls to mind some experiences I had which I will try to share with you.

In my 30 years of active duty I crossed dozens of times but probably the most concentrated flying period, aside from SEA, was when I was assigned to PACAF as the Intel Inspector for the IG. It was a great job but required that we travel almost constantly to bases on the far western rim of the Pacific from Hickam AFB (on Oahu, outside Hono.), and we almost always flew commercial with probably 75 percent of our inspections of locations throughout So. Korea. We usually flew in and out from Seoul IAP by 747 and the flight wasn’t that long, only back to Hawaii, maybe 7 hours or so. We usually traveled back a day or so after we had finished an ORI or MEI or some other inspection during which we had probably worked as many as 18 hours a day doing the inspection and writing the report, then preparing and presenting the findings and the out-brief prior to departure. We were usually quite worn out by the time the end came and usually had little time, a day or two at most, to wind down a little prior to departure. Needless to say at that point whatever free time we had was usually spent in the ‘Ville’ shopping, eating, and most importantly, knocking back a bunch of OB and trying to relax a bit. The problem was that after the long days of the inspection and wrap-up, topped off by one or two ville crawls our immune systems would be at a very low point. So getting on a return flight back to Oahu often resulted in coming down with a substantial head-cold if not a case of the flu a day or two after return. This tended to take much of the fun out of the end of the inspections and put a dampener on the more fun post inspection ville-crawls which of course might compel one to reluctantly have a health night before departure, particularly if we would have a busy schedule upon return. But after about a year of this I figured out, amazingly, how to have that piece of cake and to eat it too.

I made an accidental discovery and what happened was this. Right at the end of an inspection I found that I had I run out of a nasal spray I had been using for a mild head-cold and I wasn’t in a position to get any more before departure, so I took the empty spray bottle and poured in a solution of about 20% Listerine, 80% water in the container (only about an ounce and a half). My plan was to use this until I could get restocked with nasal spray, but as it turned out I was blown away at how well it worked so I kept using it – way better even than the commercial nasal spray. I found that even in my potentially weakened state on the flight home if I used the spray every three or four hours that the antiseptic of the Listerine solution had in-fact killed most all of the cold or flu bugs I would normally breath in so, lo and behold, no more colds or flu. I shared my discovery with my team buddies and even gave a couple of them some of it to try and they almost to a man began to use the system and found that it worked for them too. I still use this technique to this day when I fly anywhere and now I even use it when I return home form any really crowded place such as a movie theater or large gathering of some kind where I will probably be exposed to lots of airborne germs. Since I came upon this technique I’ve found that my colds and flus have reduced to probably less than 10 percent of what they were before and now rarely if ever get one – when I do it is probably 25% as bad as it used to be back in the day – I start using it at first sign of a cold and find that it stops it almost immediately from developing further. A year or two ago I happened to tell my local doctor about it and he responded that it was a ‘brilliant idea’, but added, that most people would be too lazy to bother with it unless it was handed to them and even then pobably wouldn’t seriously try it. Given what I seem to have learned of the human condition I would probably agree with that assessment but it worked well for us when we traveled so much and it still does for me and some friends and family.

So, if you need to and might want to protect yourself during long flights and keep any post-flight miseries at bay give it a thought and perhaps a try if you can. – particularly in this current era and potential of the possible Swine flu pandemic. Your readers might find some value here too. Many of my friends and family have so nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Best regards to your and your new Dennis and welcome home.
Dennis

(the other one)
(P.S. Perhaps if you had used something like this preventatively way back a couple years ago you might not have spent those lovely days in the Korean hospital you told us about. Also, if you decide to try this don’t use much more than 20% Listerine – the nasal passages are pretty tender, I’ve found. Also, use Generic Listerine if possible – like a third of the price of the name brand and same stuff and you won’t need more than an ounce or two in the spray bottle – more than that and the spray mechanism won’t work. Once again, HIT.)

Are you up on American current events?

Scored 12 out of 12 but still only got a 94%:oops::oops::oops:………yeah, blush…

But that said, I was not positive about two of the answers, even so.

Interesing quiz and willing to bet an average score will be similar to Jay Leno’s ‘Jay Walking results.

Regards.
