Here’s the headline in this morning’s newspaper:
In all honesty, I’m not going to panic. I foresee a pain in the ass immediate future while whatever happens runs its course. If it gets me I hope it is not severe, but I recognize I have two of the major risk factors (age and lung disease). If it kills me, well, I’ll be dead and my worries will be over.
Right now though I’m on a winning streak:
We took out Steve, the Englishman who doesn’t drink, 2-0, to sweep the winner’s bracket. Played Christi and Gerlie in the finals and prevailed after a hard-fought battle. The kind of night that makes darts fun again.
What else? Well, in another first of sorts I had this for breakfast:
Here’s today’s “interesting” photograph:
I saw this on today’s hike in Castillejos. I’ll be blogging about that adventure tomorrow, as I have a pressing engagement to attend to this evening. Might blog about that too! Exciting times here at LTG, no?
But before I go I have to make sure I send a shoutout to Kevin Kim in honor of National Grammar Day:
Gotta run!
Lasagna for breakfast! Who knew? That bread looks a little too fluffy to be focaccia. Are those poppies or black-sesame seeds?
As for the Grammar Day post… the question I’m asking myself is: how many of those errors are actually grammatical errors?
Grammar = sentence structure, tense control, word order, subject-verb agreement, verb conjugation, etc.
Mechanics = spelling, capitalization, punctuation
Diction = word choice/usage
E.g., using “they’re” when you mean “their” is a diction error. Come to think of it, pretty much all of the errors in that post are diction errors!
Yeah, yeah—I know the post was meant in jest and not supposed to be over-analyzed. But that’s me… always the turd in the punch bowl.
More important, though: stay safe and healthy!
Ah, yes—here’s an editor’s exercise for you: go through your posts’ captions for the past little while and note how many captions fail to do the bold-italics thing with the final letter in the caption. This has happened quite a few times recently!
Sorry—let me revise “quite a few times” to just “a few times.” And it’s not exactly the same error each time, but it’s a bold/italics-formatting error for sure. Hint: look at your recent “Hodgepodge” post, under the picture of the woman cuddling the bear. Also: “A Walk in the Countryside” (26 Feb), 12th picture down. That one’s a biggie.
Lasagna. OMG
Love it but whatever combination of cheese and tomato sauce is in there will cause me a serious stomach ache. With one this size it could be fatal.
Kev, yeah I was eating at Angel’s, the local German bakery. Most places here offer their full menu all day long, and I just wasn’t feeling the usual bacon and egg routine. The lasagna was the daily special so I figured why not? The bread was soft and there weren’t any seeds, so must have been poppy.
Well, you managed to turn that grammar joke around on me. I’ve always thought of grammar being everything, with the possible exception of its cousin punctuation. Now I’ve learned that there are in fact three different ways I can screw up when I write. Damn it!
Yeah, good catch on the boldface/italics thing. I noticed the mistake on this post yesterday but was in a hurry and let it go. The other examples of my sloppiness were a bit of a surprise, as much because I have a reader actually that detailed oriented. I’ll strive to do better now that I know someone is watching! A sincere thank you for keeping me on my toes. It’s easy to get lazy.
Rascal/Jerry, I got away from eating lasagna and spaghetti mostly in my effort to avoid carbs. So re-experiencing that tasty explosion of tastes after literally years was really great. Next time you get a craving let me know and I’ll eat some on your behalf!
