Tuesdays are pretty much the nothing day of the week, but I’m not complaining. Much. I was irked at YBC supermarket, a Filipino franchise, on multiple levels. To begin with, about half the things we made a special trip there to purchase were, once again, out of stock. I just don’t understand the breakdown in ordering logistics. Hell, if you kept running out of something, common sense would dictate ordering a greater quantity.
The other irritating aspect of shopping there is that there are only a handful of checkout counters open. And YBC is where all the sari-sari stores come to restock their shelves. For example, yesterday, the people in front of me in line had multiple shopping carts overflowing with items to be purchased. It made for a long and annoying wait.
Okay, let me take a deep breath, relax, and accept the Filipino way. Ah, that’s better. Rant over!
Next stop was my weekly visit to Dr. Jo for my GLP-1 (Mounjaro) injection. I’m still losing weight at a glacially slow pace, but at least I’m moving in the right direction. I was down a pound and a half this past week. Dr. Jo suggested a B-1 injection to speed up my metabolism, so we’ll try that next week.
At beer o’clock, we headed out to Outback Resort so I could practice for today’s tournament at Alaska Club. Once again, I went head-to-head with Abbie, and this time I played somewhat better, winning one of the three legs. I’m never going to be good at pool, but I hope to avoid embarrassing myself.

I had some discount coupons to expend, so we made Rum Jungle our next stop. My beers were 50% during our visit. I had three.

Then we moved next door to Wet Spot where I expended my “buy a lady drink, get a customer drink free” coupon. Our Hasher friend Beth was the recipient of that bounty.

It was getting nigh on 8:30, but I didn’t push myself to stay until 9 p.m. I was ready to head for home, and that’s just what we did.
Moving on to March 2023 in the LTG archives, I have a two-fer to offer today. In the first post, I share the adventure of my first and only visit to Bataan. I was accompanied by one of my Cheap Charlies favorites, Narissa. It was interesting to see the location where the infamous Death March took place. Things didn’t work out with Narissa, who proved to be a drama queen.
In the second post, I share how I’ve learned to embrace the nothingness of my life. Three-plus years on, I’m still filling in the hours, however comfortably and well. My life isn’t for everyone, but it works for me.
For today’s YouTube video, this vlogger talks about his time in the bars of Barretto. I know it’s not for everyone, but perhaps some of you will enjoy his take on things in my little town.
Yep, I’m gonna go there:

Ok, I warned you there were bad. Maybe I’ll do better tomorrow. Only one way to find out!
It’s 1971, and let’s honor the memory of John Denver with this classic hit:
Struggling to understand your weightless strategy here. Please explain because I’m completely baffled by it
Hi John,
Have you looked into getting a pool table for The Rite Spot? Seems like a no-brainer to me for those stay-at-home-days – beers in the cooler box, steaks on the grill, music on the stereo, and improving your pool skills at your own leisure.
Have a good one.
