So, geographically speaking, the next bar in my “Bars of Barretto” series would have been The Pub. But in the end, notwithstanding the name, I decided that The Pub is a restaurant rather than a bar.
So, yeah, it definitely has a pub vibe going on. But here’s the thing–I never think of visiting The Pub when I’m thirsty but it is one of my favorite places to get something to eat. In fact, I had a French dip sandwich here before moving a bit further up the road to review Rosies. Ultimately, I decided it would be unfair to rate The Pub among the bars of Barretto. The other bars can’t compete on the menu and a restaurant shouldn’t have to be held to bar standards.
I was going to do another bar review last night but it turns out that Blue Butterfly, the next up in rotation, is closed on Sundays. I’ll try to get there Wednesday.
Anyway, yesterday was Halloween and the gals at It Doesn’t Matter said they were going to be dressing up. So I did too:
Anyway, I got a few laughs out of it, all people here have ever seen me wear is shorts and a polo shirt. Wasn’t a brilliant idea though, I was sweating like a hell in that suit.
Okay, Hash Monday so I’d best get ready for that. On-On!
How about reviewing Moby Dicks at the Wild Orchid ? Nice bar with great decoration.
I was expecting the usual bullet hole in the forehead for that “assassinated president” look.
Rich, I’ve heard about Moby Dicks from the good ole days, but I’m never been. Not even sure if it is still open. I’ll check it out and let you know.
Kev, I thought about that but didn’t have a make-up artist around this time.
I thought you kind of had the Tommy Lee Jones look going on.
