Heresy

Global warming (now known as climate change since the Earth has not in fact warmed for the past ten years or so) is fast becoming the new religion of its zealous adherents.  Woe be to anyone with the audacity to question the tenets of the faith of those who believe in the coming apocalypse.

The One has made it clear that, just as Fox News isn’t legitimate news, anyone who disputes the scientific “consensus” of global warming is not a “real” scientist.  And they will be dealt with accordingly:

Last month, President Obama gave a somewhat chilling, if somewhat ignored, speech on climate change at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He stated that any scientific debate about the magnitude of global warming is unscrupulous, decrying “those who . . . make cynical claims that contradict the overwhelming scientific evidence when it comes to climate change, whose only purpose is to defeat or delay the change that we know is necessary.”

Then, the president talked tough, saying, “We’ll just have to deal with those people,” language familiar to anyone who knows the vagaries of Chicago politics.

The time for debate is over, so sayeth the Messiah.  There can be no dissent.  Unbelievers are heretics, and well, with this unusually cold weather, what better time to re-institute the fine tradition of burning at the stake?

We have not seen this kind of deviation from scientific orthodoxy since the days of Galileo GalileiYou remember him, don’t you?  The fool actually believed that the Earth revolved around the Sun!  The powers that be dealt with him harshly for ignoring conventional wisdom, and we should learn from that lesson as well.  Arrest them! Burn them!  We will not tolerate naysayers!

Although an argument can be made that the Sun does revolve around the Earth.  Just sayin’.

  1. Is there some kind of requirment to turn your brain off in order to join the –wait what movement do you belong to exactly? You aren’t a true conservative. You aren’t really a neoconservative except when it comes to national security. You certainly aren’t a progressive or a liberal. So what are you just a general naysayer? If Obama said the sun rises in the East would you argue no it rises in the West because it feels like you would.

Any why are you so down on this man? Is it because he is a Democrat? Because he is black? Because he is younger than you and managed to become President of the greatest country on earth despite his background? You are just one big sour grape, hugh sour grape and one has to wonder what drives your poisonous pen.

Obama believes in this country and he believes in his vision. I may not necessarily agree with him on everything but I recognize that he is possessed of strong leadership qualities. He is admirable but most importantly he is the President of our country. Oh right not your country. You don’t have a country. Small wonder.

  2. Um, every post I do that criticizes the President speaks to a specific issue, not the man. I find it hard to believe that you are among the Kool-aid drinkers.

So, I don’t like his foreign policy–Iran, Russia, Israel, Honduras, Poland and I don’t like his domestic policy–health care, cap and trade, card check, stimulus, et al.

I realize that in your eyes that makes me racist. I see myself as more of a patriot.

  3. Climate change is a natural occurrence, but in the past the world did not have 6 billion people to fret about it. Your cold winter in Korea is proving the climatologist’s predictions: some areas will see warming, and temperate zones like Europe and Korea will get colder. Whether or not humans have contributed to the climate change, nothing can or will be done to arrest it– there simply is not the will among the many nations to do enough. The earth will continue to do what it does: changing, recycling, gradually dying, and humans are pretty insignificant in the big picture. Count me among those who think a thinning of the herd is not such a bad thing.

  4. Wow! You finally called him “the President” instead of that snarky “The One.”

A patriot? Patriot is defined as a person who is devoted to and ready to support or defend his country. You are clearly not devoted to America.

  5. Indeed there is but you left America with no intention of returning several years ago before anyone even dreamed Obama would be elected and a Bush/Cheney held the White House.

  6. John,

I thought you left country for a better job offer with the Government? I could be wrong. Maybe all those warrants were catching up to you? HAHA
