I had the honor of participating yesterday in the historic first running of the COVID Hash. With the easing of quarantine restrictions, some members of the Subic Bay Hash decided to push the envelope and get On-On again.
Now, the quarantine rules still don’t allow us to do what we did, but we did it anyway. We did, however, try to be discreet about it. In that regard, we met up on the mountain so as not to draw unwarranted attention to ourselves. Our regular meet-up location (Johannson’s) is still closed anyway. For our On-Home beer drinking and Hash circle activities, we camped out at a fellow Hasher’s residence. I guess our illicit plan worked out okay because we were not accosted by the authorities. In fact, we intend to do it again come Monday.
We did a short 5K trail, although I did another 5K going to and getting home from the Hash. Here are some photos as promised:
I wound up getting pretty a good buzz on because I was drinking stronger beer than normal (still no Zero’s and they ran out of SM Light). The shortest way home was taking My Bitch back, but I wasn’t so drunk that I thought THAT was a good idea. Walked the back streets and took advantage of that by popping into my favorite eatery–Sit-n-Bull.
Instead of blogging like I promised to do I popped open a beer, turned on the TV, and watched a couple more episodes of Game of Thrones. Sorry ’bout that!
I guess little by little we are moving back towards normalcy. Here’s hoping it continues.
If you’re in Season 4 of GoT, then you’re right at the point where the show is about to go off the rails because it’s finally caught up to George RR Martin’s novels. From about Season 5 onward, the showrunners were basically without a template. All they had were secret notes from Martin describing, in very general terms, how the rest of his novels (still unwritten) would go. By the time you finish Season 8, then, you’ll have at least a vague idea of the fates of Westeros and Essos, but I imagine the specific fates of particular characters will be very different in the novels from how they played out in the TV series. Well… happy viewing!
The Hash looks to have been a triumph. Good for you guys. I see there’s a low-key rebellion happening in the States as people have begun to take back their liberties from the tyrants. One US gym had a near-confrontation that ended in cheering when police officers came in, loudly announced everyone was in violation, told everyone to have a nice day, then left. Things are opening back up, slowly but surely. If we’re all in full swing again by summer’s end, the Dems are fucked in November. And people in the blue states will remember that life was generally better in the red states.
Well, I’m three episodes into season 5 now and even before reading your comment the show seemed to have a different “feel” somehow. A big emphasis on religion right now too. Anyway, I’m just along for the ride but I can see that I’ll need to read the books if and when Martin gets around to finishing his work. I can’t imagine how disappointed and pissed I’d be if Tolkien had stopped halfway through the Return of the King.
Yeah, I read about the gym incident, good on them! I think the Dems and the press (but I repeat myself) are hoping to pin all this crap on Trump, but I think they will fail. Should be interesting to watch it play out.
Filipinos, for the most part, don’t openly defy authority with protests and demonstrations but I’ve noticed more and more people ignoring the quarantine mandates these days. Perhaps the powers that be will realize there is nothing to be gained by continuing this madness.
