Horsing around or monkeying around?

Unless you are granted the rare “do-over” life…

In the meantime, I’m going to keep enjoying each day as it comes. I started to say, “make the best of” each day, but maybe there are things I could be doing better (or less of). Ah well, it is what it is and my life, my choice, right?

Here’s how I chose to fill the hours yesterday:

Scott drove us out to the Binictican area on SBMA (the old Navy Base), where we commenced our Wednesday group hike. It’s got a very rural vibe about it and also hosts some housing areas that were formerly occupied by military personnel. There were cloudy skies and occasional light rain, which kept things pleasantly cool. We did take a wrong turn along the way that resulted in an additional 4K or so to our planned walk, but we still had a good time taking in the sights.

My fellow Wednesday Walkers: Gary, Scott, and Swan.
Off we go!
The road ahead. SBMA is nothing like the Philippines that surrounds it. The roads are well-maintained, and there is very little litter. It almost feel like being in the USA. I wonder why that is?
We took a walk through the El Kabayo Stables, where horseback riding is available.
There were not any customers when we passed by yesterday.
I’m not sure why this horse was wearing a mask.
I enjoyed viewing the trees growing in the pasture.
Giddy yup!
The barn was in need of some maintenance.
Looking up the creek.
Taking a moment to enjoy the flowers.
Entering the housing area.
A suburban road. Before moving to the PI, I checked out housing options here. They were nice, but it just didn’t feel like the Philippines. It still doesn’t.
I suspect this was enlisted family quarters.
I was surprised to see that some signage from the Navy days still exists.
And then we came to the section where the officers were domiciled.
Me and my brother from another mother.
Scott and his AI wizardry created this poster for our soon-to-be-released motion picture.
Not as easy as it looks.
We stopped in here for some refreshments.
Then it was back to the monkey business.
Chimps on a wire.
SBMA employs maintenance crews to keep the streets clean and the weeds whacked.
The final stretch of our journey.
Arriving safely back at the car.
It’s been a long time since I last did a 10K walk. But we enjoyed it.

At the appointed hour, Swan and I headed into town to enjoy some quality time at Red Bar.

Manager Ashley was there to greet us and document our visit.
I WAS NOT LOOKING AT THE WAITRESS’S ASS! I SWEAR!
It was all in fun.

After Red Bar, we popped into Foodies and ordered some pancit and quesadillas for delivery to our nightcap venue, Wet Spot. We then ate, drank, and were merry until it was once again time to call it a night and head for home.

Steppin’ it up! That’s the most daily steps I’ve taken in many moons.

Yep, that’s how I roll, and I want to keep on rollin’ for as long as I can.

Cruising through the November 2020 archives, and without all the female drama in my life, there isn’t much worthy of note. And in this post, I notice what my life has become and decide I like it that way just fine. Going on six years later, and nothing much has changed, other than I did find some true love along the way.

For today’s YouTube video, how about a review of Filipino beers? Well, my old favorite, San Mig Zero, is no more, so I’m a full-time SM Light drinker now. The Pilsner beer and local favorite Red Horse are too strong for my tastes, so Light it is. Actually, I may try switching back to gin and soda water for a while to enhance my efforts to lose the belly. We’ll see; there are unpleasant consequences that come with the hard stuff occasionally.

More funny business to attend to:

Not a good reflection on you, Dad…
Well, I’ll be banged.
Blind sided, eh?

This life of mine ain’t gonna live itself, so I’d best get on with it. I’ll let you know how it’s going tomorrow.
