I had every intention of doing the first half of the Hash trail yesterday, including the climb up Kalaklan Ridge. But when I got to the steep beginning of the trail to the top, I said “fuck this,” and opted to walk the second half of the trail instead. That proved to be a wise choice because even that more moderate climb was an ass kicker. Feedback from those who did the ridge was that it was slippery going both up and down. Kalaklan will be there when I’m ready.

One of the birthday girls gave me a hug after the circle, getting some of the cake on my shirt. I got a laugh when I took a closer look during the after-Hash gathering at It Doesn’t Matter.

Just living through another Hash Monday is a pleasure. And so was the pre-Hash lunch Swan cooked me.

As I traverse the February 2014 LTG archives, I am reminded of those days when I watched television for entertainment. In this post, I talk about my favorite shows back then. I smiled when I read that I usually viewed them between 10 pm and 2 am. These days, I rarely even turn on my TV, and certainly not during my prime sleeping hours. Damn, life changes, but I’m still plugging away as best as I can.
Today’s YouTube video wisdom comes from Smart Girl Philippines. I’d summarize it as be careful what you ask for and ask for what you want. And yeah, you can buy it, but as I learned during my transactional phase, it’s a hollow feeling.
Humor me:

Another day done and another one to get on with. Keep ’em coming!
A group of Corona Hashers from Angeles City drove up to join us in their Hashmobile.
I love that artwork despite the ugly beer bottle. That’s really good. The two “totem poles” remind me of Korean jangseung, but Polynesian-inflected. In fact, I have to wonder how far and wide Polynesian influence goes. I know it’s all up and down the west coasts of both Canada and northwestern America, and a lot of more primitive Korean art and sculpture reflects that influence pretty strongly. Things like jangseung look way more Polynesian than Chinese despite China’s outsize influence on the peninsula (and despite the Chinese writing on the jangseung themselves—cheonha dae-janggun on the “male” post [Great General Under Heaven] and jiha yeo-janggun [Female General Under the Earth] on the “female” post).
The Hash cakes for September.
Most of the white guys seem to have no problem putting their bare ass on the ice, but most of the women are kind of prudish, with only a few exceptions.
Seems to have been a good walk despite the ass-kicking nature of the moderate path you took. How’re the meds holding up?

Koko/Coco/Imelda, thank you for your concern. All is well.
Kevin, The Corona Hash deems itself “the best Hash in the world.” I disagree with that sentiment, but I will concede that they do have an impressive logo. I’m a little unclear on the ancient history of the PI, but I seem to recall that Polynesia was part of that story. I remember seeing the Jangseung poles at the start of one of the trails leading to the top of Namsan.
I don’t drop my pants for the ice, but I’d reckon about half the dudes do. Only a couple of women show their ass, but I always appreciate the effort!
The medication has significantly reduced my coughing and hacking up phlegm. What I do spit is clear instead of yellow, so that’s a good sign.
What’s the story with you and Coco, John? Some old tranny lover who won’t let you go?
Let the past remain the past, please. Digging it up might hurt our backs.
Perhaps a blast from the past to their days working together at “Cockatoos Galore” bar on Fields, ay Gaz?
