Well, technically it was the Saturday offshoot of the Sausage Walkers group. There were only four of us today though, three German speaking guys and me. But they were pleasant enough so it would be unfair to dub them sour Krauts. Ahem. I’m used to walking alone anyway so them speaking amongst each other in their native tongue didn’t really bother me at all. I was participating primarily to push myself to walk harder (everywhere I walk on my own tends to be flat) and to explore new trails I’m not adventurous enough to discover on my own. Mission pretty much accomplished as we did a three hour hike that included climbing a mountain. Actually, the trail location was where we were for the Wednesday hike, but we did do a different approach for ascent and descent. It was a good walk!
That’s not the only walking I did today:
Last night I played in the dart tourney and once again had the good fortune to finish first.
And that’s where things stand with me. Thanks for reading!
A diamond of a morning
Waked me an hour too soon;
Dawn had taken in the stars
And left the faint white moon.
O white moon, you are lonely,
It is the same with me,
But we have the world to roam over,
Only the lonely are free.

Congrats on the darts and on a good walk. Germans are a Volksmarch kind of people; walking up and down mountains is what they do (if they live near mountains, anyway).
I had been wondering who the burly, shirtless guy was in several of your previous pictures. I think I know who he is now. Do these gents have names? And what do they do for a living? I can’t imagine that they’re retired.
Now that was a much more upbeat post. No more tripping over your lower lip.
Thanks, Rascal.
Kev, yeah I honestly don’t know the burly guy’s name. He does speak English too of course, but we’ve never really chatted. I’ve seen him at the Hash, although he is not there every week. A lot of the younger guys here don’t stay year round. They work on oil rigs or do the merchant marine or something similar. Also, Europeans get lots of time off work. We currently have an big influx of Swedes here doing their 6 or 8 weeks off thing. Anyway, I’ll try and do better at learning more about my fellow expats…
