Time for a post

John:
I’ve been thinking about your drawing the distinction between the KEU and the other for a few days now (read your note either late Thurs or early Fri here, because I mentioned it to someone at work Friday). It’s rather interesting. Is it a cultural difference or an individual personality difference or an experience difference or what? Have you figured that out yet? (and if not, I bet you’ll do that soon!) Interesting, anyhow.

A taste of home

I’m relieved that you’ve no plans for more of “those” photos. However, I do think it’s time for another photo of that lovely charming baby, isn’t it? Please??? Have you “talked” to her by telephone much? What have you sent her to wear?

Gracyn Rose

What an adorable baby!! I see there’s a bit of hair peeking out from the cap — light to medium brown, maybe? What color are the eyes, Mark/Renee? (OK, I know eyes change color often — what color for startere?)

She’s wonderful. ENJOY HER!!!

Grandpa

We need the baby picture!!! (Before her birth doesn’t count.) No, you’re not old enough for it, but you get to be called Grampa now!!! Congrats to all of you but especially the new mother, who did all the work, and both of the new parents who are now facing the joys and challenges of parenthood.

A walk in the park

What gorgeous spring photos, John. Looks the way it looked here — a week or two ago. Cherry blossoms looked that good — and forsythia for the yellow here. Enough to lift the spirits for a good while.

Meanwhile, outside my office window

So you’re only 13 hours later now — do you get daylight saving time eventually or does ROK stay on standard time yearround?

Crossing the 14th St Bridge in the pm today — still looks good but we’re now past peak in DC so it looked better Friday and Monday. Your trees are looking good too (maybe it’s just that you have a window with a tree or two outside). What are those little yellow flowers near the ground? I assume they’re intentional. Not sure if dandelions are North American — maybe you have yellow pansies??

Namsan Photos

John: What fantastic photos. Glad you were able to retrieve them! Between these and your discussion of the trail — hmm, I think a return trip maybe every couple of weeks to check on the progress of the flowering plants/trees. 🙄

Going native?

John: Since your offspring apparently didn’t introduce you to local (wherever you were at the time) soccer or insist that you take them to pro soccer, it’s beyond time to learn about it. (We got to see DC United when they played at WT Woodson HS in Fairfax — way before they became famous.) It’s very much a team sport and once you pick up on the rules (well, besides knowing which end of the field is “yours” — things like what’s “offsides” and when do you get a corner kick and so forth), you’ll enjoy it a lot. Says she who doesn’t normally like any spectator sports but even I can recognize and appreciate good playing. Sounds like a much better pasttime than beers in the bar. 🙄

Eye candy

P.S. Must be your tinnitis acting up, not “music.” Oh. You don’t have tinnitis? Are you sure?? 🙄

No, John, it doesn’t say (at that link which I admit I didn’t check earlier) that she started her own lipstick company. It says that the lipstick brand is named for her. About the way I think some (big name out there) folks have fragrances or clothing lines or whatever named for them. It’s merely a sales gimmick to sell more of whatever.

I did notice it but figured that she was holding a wireless microphone in her right hand — didn’t notice the one in her left hand originally — so it’s probably something else.

It would be interesting if you provided the music, if what you’re demonstrating for us are the syncretisms in contemporary Korean music. I turned the speakers back on but I don’t hear anything. So that was a nice try but neither Carol nor I fell for that one. We can see the clothing influence, of course, but that appears to be one-way also — not much Korean about her attire. How does this photo show how Korea’s become a prominent player in the global economy? Besides buying non-Korean styles of attire, that is. Do her recordings sell worldwide? Can I find them at Tower? Does she run her own recording company or did some agent find a voice and face (and the rest of it) and decide to make a bundle selling that package? How is she an entrepreneur? I could go on, but I suspect there’s no need. I’m with Carol on this one. Well, you probably expected that from me.

Rent day

For sure, a money shot. 😯 I counted 9 x 10K but is that the 4K trying to peek out behind the last big bundle. It’s a “little bit” more than 2 years of a mortgage back here in VA. Did you have a bodyguard? Did the landlord? Did it hurt a lot to turn it all over to him? ❗
YIKES!

In touch with my feminine side

Well, you asked/suggested. I had to take a flying leap on some of them — it was pretty much 50/50 on several, But I came out predictably — 73.33% Female, 26.67% Male. And it says:

Your brain leans female
You think with your heart, not your head
Sweet and considerate, you are a giver
But you’re tough enough not to let anyone take advantage of you!

John: No scalp massage with that re-gluing service? :?:sja

This day…

You lost your crown, John. Tied to the comment about loyalty to the king, that means you’re passing the crown to whom? (Sorry, I must be really tired. It seems to make sense to me. Really really tired.)

More seriously, my own J lost a crown last year and ended up needing a root canal plus a new crown. That hit the budget where it hurt. I hope yours is just a matter of some new glue!!!

Photos of the LTG villa

John: Great photos. You probably should walk, looking at those streets. Maybe if you establish a standard protocol (hey, you’re in the Army, right?) — temp a minimum of x, you walk, below that you drive. Do you want to factor in the wind chill and amount of time available (i.e., did you cut that shower time slightly so you could have enough time to walk? )? There are probably all sorts of considerations to factor in. But looking at those streets, hmmm. Well, you said you need to walk more….. (BTW, I agree with Dick’s note re jacuzzi — gunk includes bacteria 😥 , so you may want to run it daily for a little bit, even if you’re not using it.) Anyhow, congrats on the new digs.

Itaewon

John:
Nice photos and verbal tour. We’re still awaiting photos of the haircut, you know. I bet you’ll get haircuts a little more often than you used to — you enjoyed that last one, sounds like! 🙄
Just so you don’t feel too bad, it was pretty windy and chilly today here, also. Or yesterday, for you, perhaps. Not 20’s until tonight, though. Quite a shock after the couple of days at 60. A few crocuses in bloom already, poor things.
And yes, of course, we’re keeping track of what’s going on. Never think you’re out there on your own!!!

Finished with Thursday

http://www.tax.virginia.gov/site.cfm?alias=ResidencyStatus#INDIVIDUALSABROAD
John: Easy find on the state website. Bottom line: As long as your legal residence is in VA, you owe taxes to VA. So where are you “domiciled”?

A quote for today

John:
Happy packing (I hope it’s finished by now?). Safe trip. You know the e-mail address — keep in touch besides this blog. Be aware that I now have an icon on my desktop at home so I’ll be checking for news pretty much daily!
