Metro, you are brave enough to cast aspersions, but too cowardly to identify yourself. What’s your Hash name? Again, if you know me, then provide some examples of my alleged racism.
And by the way, when did you stop beating your wife?

Dr. Greg, no one has ever said just what it is that makes me racist in their eyes. I can only assume it is because I support Trump.
I guess I’m the exception to the rule; I’m not racist and not gay. Go figure.

William, while I agree that the corruption is rife and politicians fail to represent the interests of their constituents, if we weren’t here, China would take over. That’s even worse than what we have now.

Gary, in my defense, I will drink gin and have the occasional tequila shot.

Brian, yes, there is a reckoning coming in the Barretto bar business. What’s interesting is that the people buying the failing bars are big spenders from out of the country. Maybe it’s money laundering or having more cash than they know what to do with.
Expats call the local public hospital in Olongapo the place where people go to die. It seems almost criminal to me the way the poor people’s health needs are disregarded.
Yep, Dolly was one of a kind. She didn’t let celebrity go to her head and stayed true to herself until the end. We need more like her in the world, not less.

Sorry to hear that, Thompson. Good luck finding the right bridge for you.

Thanks, Drain. Appreciate your support.

Brian, the shocking thing to me is that none of these bigots has ever confronted me with an example of my so-called racism. There is nothing to deny. The only things I can think of is that I support or president and I don’t care for rap music. I’m guilty of those.

Metro, that’s bullshit. How do you prove something that isn’t? I have no idea who you are, and you don’t know me. So, tell me something I’ve said, done, or written that is racist, or fuck off.

Anthony, no offense taken. I feel sorry for your ignorance.

Manowar, I am what I am, and that’s all that I am. You have to be yourself because everyone else is already taken.

Chop, my ongoing dementia is a calamity.

William, in my experience working in Korea, I didn’t encounter that phenomenon. Perhaps the Koreans working on the Army base learned to adapt to American time standards.

Greg, no one has EVER called me racist to my face. That’s because I’m not a racist. A random commenter or two made the claims to the contrary, but when I challenged them to show me one example of anything I’d posted with racist overtones, they disappeared without a peep.
Since you have decided to join that group making baseless allegations, I’ll give you the opportunity to provide any evidence that led you to the belief that I’m a racist. And no, I don’t use the “n” word, nor do I have any desire to do so. So, put up or shut up.

Martin, yep, trust the so-called “experts” at your peril.
I was a pothead for ten years. At 25 years of age with two kids, I realized I needed to focus on being a good father and my career, so I gave it up. Yeah, I filled the gap with beer, but still… Oddly enough, during post-retirement trips to Thailand, I wasn’t even tempted by the ubiquitous weed shops.

Franklin, I’m the moderator, and I’ve gotten stricter on comment approval. Deleted three this morning for being unworthy of publication. You can disagree without being disagreeable or making personal attacks. If you can’t argue like a grownup, then don’t bother.

Brian, that lockout is a great motivational tool. Actions have consequences!

Brian, the linked post was from the scamdemic era. Sadly, tourism has never recovered here. I find it amazing that not only are some of these bars still in business, but that when one does close, another opens in its place. I assume this must be more of a hobby than an attempt to make money.
Hmm, I didn’t realize that lateness was also the case in other Asian countries. I don’t recall that happening in Korea. Then again, even some of us Americans tend to be “fashionably late.” I’ve always been of the mindset that I’d rather be ten minutes early than one minute late.

Brian, the house is getting some renovations inside now. Not as nice as mine, but half the price. It’s also near the entrance to the subdivision, so those nasty neighbors aren’t that close.
As to your question, if there were opportunities to improve income/standard of living, I believe Filipinos would make the move. OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) are the country’s largest export, and the money these folks send home is critical to the economy here. I’ve read that the majority of nurses in the USA are Filipinos. So, I’d bet on a decrease in population here if open borders equate to opportunity.
Ha! I hadn’t noticed that body distortion on my younger brother. Nice catch!

Josh, I recall that back when I was a teenager, old people didn’t like rock’n’roll music. Now it is my turn to not like the crap young people enjoy listening to.

Brian, only one for me. I guess that makes us poles apart.
I tried to get into Canada once, but I didn’t have enough money. I told that story here on the blog way back in 2005.
I’ve been to Japan several times, and usually enjoyed my visits there. I’ll have to check what the visa rules are for Filipinas.

Peter, the weather will be whatever it is, whether we like it or not.

Dr. Greg, getting a generator is on my “to-do” list. Now I just need to get a round tuit.

Brian, tell me about it. I keep my ballcaps stacked on my bedroom dresser. Went to grab one that was on the bottom yesterday, and it was covered in mold.
I was noticing the paint on some relatively new houses in my subdivision looked a lot worse for the wear lately.

Chop, No, uh, can’t build an ark. I’ll make the Milli Vanilli tune the song of the day for today’s post. I guess you could say I stole the idea, or maybe I’m just out of sync.

Chop, No, but they do have the best fish and chips in town.

Spot on, Drain. I remember those ads with the crying Indian when I was growing up. But you are right, there’s no graft money to be made on an anti-litter campaign. It would be nice if the city paid the unemployed to clean the streets and beaches, but then again, the trash would be back again the next day.

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement, Seamus.

Corneilius, easy for you to say.

«« Back To Stats PageBrian, I’m sure the litter, especially when it winds up on the beach, is very off-putting to tourists. That’s just one of many issues (like transportation and infrastructure) that negatively impact tourism. I’ve seen no efforts by the government, local or national, to address these issues. Hell, putting out some strategically placed trash bins around town would be a good first step. It’s no excuse, but when you have nowhere to toss your garbage, a lot of folks will just throw it on the ground (or into the rivers).
Regarding routines, are you saying this old dog should learn new tricks? I get what you are saying, and that’s one of the reasons I do a “get outta town” excursion once a month. It’s good to see new places and faces.
