I really don’t know what you are talking about or reading, Kevin. I mean you set up strawmen like the “birthers” which I’ve never mentioned and those who do are no more credible than Michael Moore and his conspiracy theories.
The “biased” website I linked to was quoting NYTimes columninst Bob Herbet, a liberal.
Probably one of the biggest lefties around, Jane Hamsher, was on FOXNews (Fox News!) opposing Obamacare. She later teamed up with one the most far right people I know of, Grover Norquist, to jointly seek to have the bill killed.
The list of lefties opposed goes on and on, from Howard Dean to the Daily Kos. You can mock all you want (which I suppose is easier than defending this shitty bill), but people from both ends of the political spectrum have united in opposition, and that is truly astounding.
I’m kinda disappointed that you aren’t taking a more serious look at this. The ironic thing is the biggest winners are the health insurance companies and big business.
But as you say, America hasn’t been attacked on Obama’s watch. Ooops, scratch that.

Wow, Craig, you really got that guys goat. It’s amazing that he wished not only death to those who disagree with him, but a slow and painful death at that. Pretty scary to see what some folks are reduced to when their “religion” is challenged. Guess were just a couple of infidels to him.
Keith, not sure there is any such thing as a “domestic” oil company these days. But the fact of the matter is if we would invest heavily in nuclear power now our domestically produced oil would be enough to eliminate the need to import from our enemies.
The fact that we are not even contemplating doing so is to me strong evidence that this global warming business is about politics, not climate.

Military tribunals are the alternative. The same day they announced KSM’s civilian trial, they sent 5 others to military tribunals, including the Cole bombers.
And you don’t need to “declare” war to engage in an act of war. The Japanese started a war without declaring one on 7 December 1941.
Speaking of WWII, 5 German saboteurs were captured on U.S. soil, given a military tribunal, and executed.
In the War of Northern Aggression, Lincoln had civilians tried by military tribunals.
As Graham noted there has never been a precedent for what we are doing here. We are making history, bad history.

That sounds like the “JD’s Lounge” jersey. A local bar in Prescott sponsored us for a while. We had that old Pittsburgh Pirates look going…yellow jersey/black trim, black pants/yellow striping, and yellow stirrups. We were so 70s back then…

Well, in DC a city official complained about niggardly federal officials. The context being that the feds weren’t giving the city enough money to operate.
It created a firestorm of controversy with the usual suspects calling for his head. Finally, reason prevailed as it became apparent that the word niggardly has absolutely no racial connotation.
So, the guy apologized for his “insensitivity” and life went on. After all, one must be sensitive to the ignorance of the race baiters.
Personally, I think the guy got gyped.

Thanks for commenting HI. As you undoubtedly know, the Rs are completely without power in the Executive Branch, so about all they can do is try to stop the Ds from making things worse.
Business, especially small business, creates jobs–not government. And when gov’t policies create uncertainty (higher taxes, deficit spending) businesses stop hiring.

Um, every post I do that criticizes the President speaks to a specific issue, not the man. I find it hard to believe that you are among the Kool-aid drinkers.
So, I don’t like his foreign policy–Iran, Russia, Israel, Honduras, Poland and I don’t like his domestic policy–health care, cap and trade, card check, stimulus, et al.
I realize that in your eyes that makes me racist. I see myself as more of a patriot.

Well, even conceding a slant to the right at FNC, it is nothing compared to the over-the-top left bias at CNN. MSNBC is a joke and I don’t think they even make a pretext at straight news reporting, so let’s leave them out of this.
So, taking the hypothesis of FNC on the right and CNN on the left, here’s the issue: Fox reports stories that CNN won’t. Let’s take the ACORN thing for example and argue that FNC had a right wing bias on the story. CNN could have reported from the left, but instead ignored the story altogether (they did however take the time to “fact check” a skit on SNL mocking Obama). And that’s really the problem. You need the media to play the watchdog role in a democracy–the whole 4th estate thing. And only one network is even attempting to do so.
Which makes Obama’s attempt to isolate and demonize FNC a real scary thing. He’s sending a clear message to the other networks–when FNC uncovers dirt, don’t you dare report it.
So, in that context I would say FNC is more fair and balanced than any of the alternatives…
