Kevin: Two probably’s in one sentence is probably okay. Yeah, I thought of the Park thing but this march didn’t seem to be a protest, at least the marchers didn’t seem to fit that normal demographic. Lots of families pushing kids in strollers and the like. I noticed most of them were carrying blue balloons although I don’t know what they were intended to signify.

Soju, re: Daisy. It’s complicated. One day at a time is my motto. No juicy drinks, but I’m pretty sure some perv was trying to get an upskirt shot. Oh wait, that was me. Never mind…

Saw some changing, but still far from peak. And I still managed to work up a good sweat, despite the cooler weather. Those damn steps will do it to you every time.

Back to reality…

No, SOFA visa is void once you stop working. When I was retired previously I had to fly out every 90 days. I don’t think Korea offers a retirement visa. I guess one option is getting married to a Korean. I’ve done that, it didn’t end well….

I’ve actually been ok with the health care here, although other than preventative stuff and a couple of ER visits I’ve not had much experience. One hospital stay that was unpleasant, but what do I know.

Korea is still in play, the major downside being that living here on my pension would not be the living large I’ve envisioned. Maybe I’ll really like Pyeongtaek, which if nothing else, would be cheaper.

Kevin, I’ll have a Thailand wrap-up soon. Overall, I’ve enjoyed my time here. Could I live here? Probably not Bangkok or Pattaya, but there is more to see.

Lost in Pattaya

Widow, the scariest thing is that traffic moves in the opposite direction (they drive on the right instead of the left). So every time I cross the street I find myself looking the wrong way before stepping out. I’m getting a little better at it now.

The weight

I eat a lot of calories Billy, just try and avoid carbs. I don’t let myself feel hungry.

Widow, it is true that I was more popular with the gals in the PI but this is about being healthier and feeling better about myself. I don’t expect I’ll be seeing six pack abs anytime soon. Just want to get rid of the keg!

I think you are right about adding some strength training to my routine. Got access to a free gym on base so there is no excuse.

Soju, my Korean is not good enough to explain about pole dancing to the landlord. But once I get in shape I’ll definitely consider being a “juicy boy” in the PI…

Go tell it on the mountain

I asked her the same question and no, she apparently doesn’t work out at all. And yes, she got winded quickly on the uphills. That’s when she needed to take a break, albeit, very short ones of just a couple of minutes. I could hear her heavy breathing as we climbed. Doesn’t help that she smokes. I’m trying to convert her to vape, but so far no luck.

Couldn’t entice her to do the stairs, but she did just fine on the relatively flat perimeter road. Said she felt good after walking, so hopefully she will keep it up. Of course, I only see her on Friday and Saturday, so I’ll remain a solitary walker most days.
