Thanks, Kev.
No, I have a long chain that Buddy wears out back. I’m sure he wouldn’t run away again, and he knows he way home now if he did. But he might find some trouble to get into so I keep him leashed up.

Bernardo, Sorry I missed you, flew home today. Next trip for sure!

May the force be with me!

Better than on the streets, but I can see now it is best to lay the powder on the morning of the Hash, not the day before. Lesson learned!

Yes, as a matter of fact sometimes the old chalk does create confusion. I made sure to put fresh chalk on the old where ever I encountered it. The chalk fades so after a couple of weeks you can usually tell the old from the new, but not always. That’s why the chalk arrows with a number work well.
Let ’em complain! We are subjected to their insane trails when they Hare. We’ve got two climbs tomorrow and that’s plenty!

Yeah, but she seemed different. But there is no denying I was stupid. And lucky that she didn’t take something more valuable. I’ll give her props though. She had suggested I take a pre-massage shower. Well, I’d fallen for that once in Cambodia had money stolen from my pockets. The only time I let her out of my sight was when I was taking a piss. She got the vape and charger lifted and concealed in less than a minute. Guess she was a pro…

Thanks, Brandon! Looking for somewhere new to eat tonight. I had a beer at Handlebars the other day might have to give that BBQ a whirl…

Yes, that’s exactly what I said to the Hulk “are you shitting me?”

Haha! Glad I didn’t get crucified!

Maybe less than 20%. 8 kms seems to be about the optimum. It also depends on the terrain. It took less than 1.5 hours for me walking, and I was once again one of the last ones to finish. Most folks want around 2 hours on trail.

One lifetime, many lives (prologue)
Thanks for the interest and support guys. I’m working on it in my head, but hope to have an installment come Sunday…

No, didn’t make it to the money rounds. Very disappointing in that I had a decent partner too. Well, she’s a good darter when sober, but…
Anyway, it’s on me. In both of our losses I had a shot at the winning dart and missed. No getting around that. What’s irksome is losing to teams who were more lucky than good. But that’s the way the arrows fly sometimes.
And it’s only a game! 🙂

Well, I saw this during the tourney, but alas, it was not to be. Some fuckin’ tourist won. I hate when that happens. Especially now that I aren’t one….

Ah, the ice sitting is almost an honor. 🙂
You know these trails are not unlike what you find in Korea…Bukhansan comes to mind.
And as the old saying goes, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger!

In Baguio the other Subic Hashers said they called out to us at the easy/hard trail intersection. I honestly didn’t hear them though. They went left, we went right. The trails joined up again later and were the same overall distance. Still finished near the end of the pack, but not last.
On the Subic Hash no one really cares if you short cut. The older and less fit do it all the time. I try to do the trail as the Hare intended unless it is ridiculous or getting dark. But when it’s Leech you know you are in for a long hard day. I don’t think I’ve ever completed one of his trails in its entirety. Sometimes I’ll go back the next day and try the parts I missed.

Salty Cum is Marissa’s Hash name…
» Posted By John McCrarey On 19/February/2019 @ 9:23 am
Interesting, I actually didn’t know that. Now that you mention it, there were signs along the trail saying stuff like “take a deep breath” and “observe silence”. Very Zen-like indeed!

HaHa. I seem to recall having watched the entire series based on a recommendation posted on your blog…

I ain’t no saint, that’s for sure. Helping a little when I can feels good though.
The cake was from a local bakery chain called Goldilocks. Sort of a Paris Baguette kind of place. But yeah, they do bake a fine cake!

Oops! It wasn’t my intention to mislead, but I did not mean to imply I was preparing a meal for 20. What I did was provide a meal. Pictures on the blog tomorrow!

Yep, #2 wowed the crowd and was crowned Ms. Beach Bash 2019. Good eye!

Thanks, Kev. As always, I can count on you for a brutally honest perspective. I’ve actually had a similar conversation with myself. Yes, this is tantamount to settling, but to my mind I’m not going for the long term here. She just helps get me through the day.
It’s odd because although I always lament not being in a satisfying relationship I can’t seem to muster the motivation to seek out something better. Yeah, I won’t find her in the bars, that’s for sure. But when I try and do the dating site thing I just can’t bring myself to ferret out the posers from the sincere gals. And the neediness and desperation from the ones I have initiated contact is really off putting and a little depressing.
So, I think the bottom line is I’m just not ready yet. Marissa doesn’t have the power to hurt me, so she is a safe choice for now. I’ll settle for that until it’s not worth it anymore. Hell, that could be tomorrow

Brian, funny you should mention that…just saw a friend’s post about making his pulled pork in an InstaPot. Sounds like it would be a good fit for me. I’ll check around. Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, no one likes a man who reeks of desperation. Pretty sure that was my problem in Korea. It’s a little different here because I do encounter opportunities, just not the right opportunities. And as I’ve written about before the ones I am attracted to don’t seem to reciprocate. Anyway, I think your advice about just relaxing and letting things happen in due course is spot on.
Look for a post coming soon about my current situation in this regard.

SeHwa, if you had asked me in a polite and respectful manner I would have not had a problem with your request. Instead, you were rude and demanding. If you knew me at all you would know that I do not respond favorably to someone trying to tell what I have to do. If you want respect maybe you should try to give some respect. Or are you one of those people who have lived in New York so long you have forgotten how to be respectful?
And just to be clear–that photograph was taken in a public place with your knowledge and consent. I can, therefore, do with it whatever I please. I hope your kids NEVER read my blog because it is not written for children. I must admit I am very curious about why you object so much to that picture. It’s just three people standing there, not in a bar, not doing anything objectionable, with a nice view of Seoul Tower in the background. What’s the problem?
Anyway, since it bothers you so much and it doesn’t matter to me, I have removed your face from the photo. Happy now?

Ms. Yoon, I don’t need your permission to post anything on my personal blog. There is no name on the picture. Why does it bother you to see me with my friend Petro?

interesting. I’ve done some hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park and had a big headache which I attributed to the thin air. Got back to the car and almost immediately fell asleep. Good times!
Yeah, ol’ Gunter goes back home every summer to play in the “real” mountains. Who knows, maybe someday I’ll meet him there…

Good tip, made the “correction”…
» Posted By John McCrarey On 03/February/2019 @ 3:37 pm
Practice doesn’t make perfect…
Hmm, it’s not a true loop, although I could easily improvise one (i.e. Marian Hills to Alta Vista). I actually like just calling it “my bitch”, as in, “I’m gonna walk my bitch today and see what happens”. I will be incorporating this trail into my routine, likely on one of my “long walk” days.
Thanks for your suggestions and support!

«« Back To Stats PageFunny! No idea how or why he earned that name. He’s a German guy and drives the Hashmobile. Old and fat and smokes like a chimney so he never makes trail. But works his ass off for us, an example being setting up our camp while we walked yesterday.
