Drain, yeah, I hear you. That’s why I didn’t invite her to stay during our first chat. When we chatted again at 0300, she didn’t have many other options and it seemed her staying with me was the best one. I kept my eyes open though.

Nope, that’s Dave (Gas Station) a relatively new member of the Hash. He too aspires to get fit through hiking. Martin has been out of town these past couple of weeks. I’m really impressed you are following along so well that you are noticing these details!

Brian, I think we are talking apples and oranges here. Google said my email storage space was full so I deleted some of the old emails with attachments. That led to the rediscovery of those photos from 2008. Now, part of the problem is that the photos I do automatically upload to the cloud are taking up space as well, so I’m eventually going to have to pay.
I have an external hard drive laying around somewhere. I guess I should find it and see what’s there. I’m a techno-peasant though and really don’t want to be bothered with manually backing everything up.
I bought the domain when I started blogging in 2004. I didn’t like the Blogspot format, I wasn’t worried about privacy. Everything goes on the server of my blog host Go Daddy anyway. Originally, LTG was at johnmccrarey.com but then I somehow missed paying to renew that domain, and some jerk in Poland bought it out from under me and used it as a spam site. Rather than deal with him trying to buy it back I just switched to mccrarey.com. And here we are today.
“What happens in the PI stays in the PI?” Thank goodness that’s not true! What would I blog about? 🙂

Yeah, paying money to Google directly just rubs me the wrong way somehow, even though it really doesn’t amount to much more than pocket change. I may have to break down and buy more space soon since I *think* my photos are automatically being uploaded now. Yesterday’s discovery was attachments to old emails. Those photos had been deleted years ago by wife #4.

Fortunately, I’ve avoided the “fall down” part so far. I’ve also not been drunk enough to courageously eat from a dicey street vendor. Actually, the one pictured is comparatively nice, but I always wonder things like “how old is that meat?” and “where exactly are taking care of keeping clean?”. Yeah, I probably think too much. Then again, it used to be that every time I visited the PI I’d get diarrhea. That was probably from the water and now I’ve developed immunity like the locals Still, don’t want to press my luck.

Well, I’m on the introvert side of the spectrum, but not that extreme. I interact with and enjoy the company of others, but I’m not the life of the party in larger groups. And yes, the beer does tend to help me let my guard down some.

Kev, every Fitbit I’ve seen is strapped to a WRIST, not sure what you’re seeing on a shoulder. I’ve been using this product for several years now, and the other day was the first incident of gross inaccuracy. I’ve compared step counts with phone apps in the past and they generally track closely. My biggest complaint is the Fitbits I’ve owned don’t live long…maybe a year or so. My previous one stopped holding a charge. For better or worse, Fitbit does update and upgrade. I started on a Charge 2 and now I wear a Charge 5. I guess I’m addicted. In addition to steps, my device helps me track the quality of sleep, resting heart rate, and several other health indicators.

Glad you are enjoying the pics, I’ve still not mastered the new camera but I was hoping the quality improvement was noticeable…especially on the landscape shots.
Yep, I had actually forgotten about her cookie work so reading that again was a treat for me too. She’s a special woman for sure. She’s not responded to the message or email I sent recently, hope she is okay.
Yeah, I need to travel. Actually, I have to exit the country prior to December to renew my visa. I’ll be going somewhere, not sure where yet. I doubt there is anything left on Hooker Hill…No more Grand Ole Opry, so what’s the point?

Kev, I don’t recall seeing a gyro on anyone’s menu here. Some of the street vendors do that kebab thing, but I’ve never tried one. Somehow I don’t trust the freshness and hygiene involved.
QP, yeah she’s a good woman. Mid-30s three kids, two look like American kids (the dad was a Yank). Her now-deceased ex did leave her with a paid-for place and land up on the mountain and she earns some money growing some fruits and veggies. Still has a sexy body. I’ve fantasized about what a life on the mountain with her might be like, but the reality of that kind of living is just too harsh for me. Hard to get home from the bars for one thing. Anyway, she always leaves me satisfied after a massage.

Well, the moniker of being a “drinking club with a running problem” doesn’t really exclude us walkers who are by far the largest group in any Hash kennel I’ve participated with. Maybe in places where the members are not so old and weary, it is different. I’d say we have 10 runners out of 50 regular attendees.
Brian, yep, that’s my goal–making the ordinary days good ones. We all have that power I think, it is just too easy to let circumstances dictate our mood.

Yeah, it is a small town full of gossip and misperceptions, that’s for sure. I’m still surprised when I’m the subject for no apparent reason. Someone told me the other day they heard I was suicidal over the breakup with my ex. Nothing could be further from the truth. People just make shit up about you and I really don’t understand the motivation.
Yes, I need a vacation. I’m thinking about some options now. Without the jab, I am somewhat limited in where I can go. I can’t take an extended trip until dart league is over in June though.
As to my apparent lack of male friends, you are right that I don’t really have a drinking buddy. On the personality matrix, I’m rated as an introvert. Not extreme, but I’m also not one to initiate meetups. If someone wants to join me, that’s fine. But drinking alone (or with the bargirls) doesn’t bother me either.

What’s funny is that back when I wrote that I was Deputy Director. A year or so later I became the Director and wound up hiring her as my Deputy. When I retired she became Director. What goes around, comes around!

Yeah, I usually double-check the spelling when I write hangeul, just got lazy yesterday. The European Union tip will make the proper spelling easier to remember from now on.
I’ve got my photos at least automatically uploading to Google now. Too late for the ones that are lost forever, but I’ll always have the memories.

Jerry, nice to hear from you again. I was wondering what was up with you. There’s really no recipe for the crockpot chili–brown a pound of ground beef, drain the fat, put the meat in the pot. Dice an onion and throw it in. Add a can of pinto beans, a can of kidney beans, and a can of diced tomatoes with green chiles (all undrained), mix in a pack of chili seasoning (Old El Paso or McCormicks are good). stir it all up, set the crockpot on low for 8 hours (or high for 4 if you are in a hurry). Put it in a bowl, sprinkle some grated cheese on top, and chow down. I like to serve mine with cornbread too. Easy, peasy. I’m not really a cook, just an assembler.
