Kevin, do they have air fryers in Korea? I was skeptical at first but I am quite happy with it. Does a fine job on chicken wings.

I usually go to H and J or Handlebars as I enjoy playing pool lots of tournaments and a great way to meet people. Apparently there is a new sports bar opened up beside the midget boxing. I rarely go to Malate/Ermita just don’t like the vibe. Also some of the fancy hotels have pretty good happy hours and are fun to check out. I also play quite a bit of basketball with a group where I live, limits the beer consumption!

I wonder if teaching some English or other skills at the orphanage a couple of times a week would give you some purpose. Lessons and worksheets are readily available online. You have said in the past just donating food and money feels unfulfilling, just a thought.

Check out H and J across the street from Cubano down one of the sidestreets… Handlebars as well has a bbq. Across from H and J is a great Mexican spot

May I suggest using some of the land around your house to start a small garden. It is quite a time consuming hobby and enjoyable as well. I wouldn’t worry too much about the girlfriend thing. The right person will pop up. Your right though that bars are not the place to be looking. Must be some people in Subic belonging to hobby clubs etc. When in Manila it always takes me a couple of weeks to realize that there is more then sitting at a bar each night, its fun but you get tired of it quickly.

The hotspot is a beautiful thing… I didn’t even bother getting traditional internet installed. I can run an iPad and laptop off my phone and the speeds are not too bad.

Did you get a washer? I bought a LG dryer/ washer last year. It was pricey but, its nice to have. Sending clothes out started to become a pain in the ass.

BPI does 20,000 P at a time… the others are 10,000P. Connections always seem to be down on the weekend and they don’t bother to fix them until Monday. I always try to have enough cash on hand to last me… but things happen right? Lol

The windows look unsecured.. gated community doesn’t have the same level of security in the phils. I would look for something with fencing.

I been going to the Philippines for 2 months each year for the past 8 years and never had a problem. You are quite correct in not carrying a wallet or cash. I slip a 1000 note in my shoe for emergencies lol. I also joined a gym and got a photo id with my address so, I do not have to carry any important documents. Watch the booze and your surroundings and you should be fine. Pro tip : if a Pinoy guy is super friendly walk away lol

Not to worry John, while I highly doubt anything will actually get agreed upon with this congressional body I do feel confident they will soon decide to decide later and release funds for the next few months, then we can all feel uneasy again in time for Christmas….ahhh the days of the do less than nothing congress
