Running dry again

Don Bullock
IDM
COPD

I had to Google those words to see what’s going on. sorry for your loss.
and sorry to hear that the events made you ponder your own demise.

As you say , the cliche about life going on is the only true thing we know 🎶 We know nothing else but that. And even then, each of us will get our turn at the whole death thing. Might as well get on with life while we got it 👍 🤷

The way I see it, you being retired and living in the tropics is probably the best option you had and you took it . Second-best would’ve been living in the villages in Florida, and enjoying all the good times but also limiting your female companions to women almost your age. Maybe that would’ve been great because you’d have more things to talk about, and from what I hear and read from STD reports, the residents of the Villages do have some fun in between shuffleboard and BINGO. And from the support of Laura Loomer, I think that would give you something to be passionately angry about, and get actively involved.

Would your children contact you more frequently? Would you spend more time with your grandchildren if you were only a few hours flight away instead of several time zones on the other side of the world 🌎 I guess we’ll never know for sure.

well, I have added to your mental masturbation, and now we both know it is messy, time-wasting and also a little disgusting.

Back in the real world, Joy is waiting for her dinner and drinks 🍸, and she’ll come visit your house during the week. If you were in Florida, you’d probably be watching TV and listening to Muriel in unit 4 complaining about her nurse not giving her the correct medication, or old Jerry yelling about the democrats eating his cereal.
I, too, have been known to spend hours thinking about what could’ve been. Like what if I didn’t steal that bike in 5th grade , or what if my old man had taken that job out of state 😳

A wise man once said : gotta live the life in front of us instead of what could’ve should’ve might’ve.

I am sure Don Bullock lived the best life he could, and never spent a moment wondering about his niece Sandra Bullock and what she was up to. You’re clearly not Don Bullock so why even bother thinking about what your non-existent filipina family will think when your time comes? When that moment comes ,people will gather and say nice things. Many will weep and drink, others will smile through their tears. Many more will read your thoughts here and write even more. And you won’t be even around to thank them for their words.

But tonight you will tell your funny jokes to your regular friends and there will be celebrations 🍾
Sir John still is an active member of the community, and there is still plenty of beer to be drunk

Discovering a new world

Who’s the lady next 👀 in the braids and orange dress in the penultimate photograph 📸? She probably would win all the competitions

A week in the life: Sunday stroll

The Alta Vista series ended way too quickly.
There’s still more.

The residents of Alta Vista.
The empty plots.
The squatter camps .
The landlords.
The security guards.
The pets .
Community and culture: recreation and well-being in Alta Vista.

And most interesting 🤔 The interior decor of Alta Vista mansions: exciting expose of what goes on behind the high walls.

Of course , a comprehensive series of bars and restaurants is always the easy guide to write.
From the beach front establishments to the highway 🛣 eateries. Best food and drink menu item from each, with a quote from the proprietor to inspire the reader

Alta Vista: Shenandoah Bend

Thanks for the grand tour of Alta Vista. It’s a great place. How is the safety aspect compared to the rest of the town/city?
I know y’all are technically a gated community but the roads that lead to your hiking trails 👣may also allow interlopers. Compared to other subdivisions , is this safer because of the guards at the gate or just being remote and tucked away in the mountains ⛰?
I’m wondering if anyone can just wander through the streets on their way to another place or is it so far away that anyone who ventures out there has some kind of business in the area ?
Too many questions
But I am just curious how those huge mansions coexist with the relative squalor down in the main road and still maintain a peaceful quiet atmosphere

Taking a tumble

Given your new weekly hobby, we were all hoping that you’d title this post “Spreading Joy”. Missed opportunity there 😊
Glad to see that you don’t have too many guilty pangs about this. You may even start to approach this with impassioned precision. Think schedules and names and reports and reviews 🤔

But I digress. I came here to wish you health and safety after the tumble and the possible covid exposure. One can never be too careful.

Carry on living the good life

Social Security: Point/Counterpoint

Yes, I know that when SS was started, it was extremely rare for anyone to live to 65, & there was something like 30 to 1 ratio of workers to retirees. Europe is suffering an even more extreme version of our problem.
Am I the only one who thinks we need a 100% moratorium on all forein aid (including disaster relief & UN funding) until our own financial house is in order?
I am actually less worried about the burden of SS to those younger than myself than the burden of the national debt.
On another note. the cost of medicare is greater than the cost of SS. anybody have suggestions as to how to lower this cost?

Lets see. Carol is someone who says she is only taxed on her first $90000, implying she makes more than that. Plus she is married to a civil servant. Yet she still cannot save enough for retirement. Now picture how a single person in their 40’s who earns at most $40000/ yr feels being told “save fast or starve” because we are changing the SS system.
PS is Carol calculating the equity in her house towards retirement? If you are retired you do not have to live anywhere with expensive real estate.
