Methinks thou dost protest overmuch

I’m getting plenty sick and tired of the blatant racism recently on display back in the land of the free and home of the brave.  Especially from angry white men.

I mean, only a racist would say this about our President:

“A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.”

And of course, who would have thought that such words as these would be uttered in the enlightened 21st century:

calling Obama — a “light-skinned” African American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one”

And then what kind of person would think it appropriate to post picture like this on the internet:

obama-shines-palin-shoes.jpg

You know, someone needs to call out these Tea Party bigots once and for all.

Huh?  What’s that?  Bill Clinton? Harry Reid?  A dem operative from Colorado?

Oh, never mind then.  Nothing to see here, move along.

(for those who are sarcasm challenged, no I don’t think the folks mentioned above are racist.  But lord knows the shitstorm we would see if anyone making the same statements happened to be Republican.  I’ve been called racist here for merely disagreeing with the policies of The One.  And you know, I’d just say look at that log in your eye before casting stones.  And yes, that was an intentional mix of Biblical metaphors.)

  1. Actually, I think Clinton is a racist. He only pretends otherwise for political reasons. The comment about the coffee represents his true elitist, racist feelings.

  2. The Harry Reid thing is all over the news. The Bill Clinton thing is all over the news. Probably why its all over the news is because of the shit storm being kicked up by Republicans. Oh wait you said there would only be a shit storm if it had been said by a Republican. Gee I guess you called this one wrong.

I think Clinton’s remark was racist. I think Harry Reid, like Trent Lott, wasn’t trying to be racist. Acknowledging that Clinton’s remark is racist I must also say I am not surprised he said it. Racism is far from being a thing of the past and even when a person is not overtly racist the truth is it colors our perceptions. It will take another generation or two for that to be eradicated.

As for you, well you are still an angry niddle-age white guy. Look at your timing. These comments are old and are receiving a breath of life because of the new book by the author from The bAtlantic Monthly. Republicans (you included) have decided now is the time to create a new scandal, another distraction from the real business of governance.

Its like you can’t think for yourself. If you had been thinking for yourself you might have paused to reflect back on some of your own comments. How about when you said that your wife having an opinion that differed from your own was a sign of disrespect. That is about as sexist as you can get. Oh yes remember your opinion on older drivers? I can’t wait to see if that changes when you hit 65.

  3. Well, if Reid calls for his own resignation as Majority Leader like he did for Lott I will be satisfied.

You say this is a Republican initiated scandal–what scandal? Are Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton outraged? Your blindness to the hypocrisy here is astounding….

  4. I have always believed the people that claim the loudest about how they are not racist are probably the ones you need to keep an eye on. It is interesting to hear what these two people really think and the response of the usual suspects making excuses for them.
