Yes, the rich and powerful in the Great White North don’t cotton much to that vaunted Canadian socialized medicine. Lord knows, waiting in a queue for substandard service is only for the little people.
Not sure what will happen to those poor souls should Obamacare become law. Best take care of those health needs now I suppose.

No one has ever argued the quality of the health care in the USA. It truly is the best in the world. It is the cost of health care, not the quality, that is the issue. Price isn’t a factor for Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams so he can pay to use the best doctors in the world, which are, for the most part, all located in the United States.
He can afford it, so why not use the best medical doctors? Do you think he is coming down to sign up with Blue Cross/Blue Shield? He’ll pay cash and go home. It is sad that he can get better care in the USA than a lot of U.S. citizens. This is why the system needs reformed.

No Kevin, I think you might be smelling your own BS here. What makes you think the USA will be able to maintain the quality of health care when the government interjects itself. What has the government EVER made better?
Or to turn it around, why does health care in Canada suck (comparatively)? What is the one difference? Oh yeah, the gov’t controls it. It may be cheaper, but you get what you pay for.
So you think if we make health care more affordable all the great doctors and surgeons in this country will leave?
I don’t think so. These health care giants that are making billions may see a cut in profit but I doubt the quality of care drops one bit.
People in this country should not die because they can’t afford health care. People should in this country should not go broke because they get sick.
I’m not for a goverment run health care system per se but I do want more competition and more options for those that can’t afford coverage.
Hmmm, why do you both assume American health care is better? Are you aware that some Americans are going to Canada, Mexico, South America and India to have medical procedures done? The quality is as good if not better and it is much cheaper.
Kevin, I have spent most of my life lamenting that so many people can’t afford health care, or food, or heat for their homes, or homes for that matter. I have dragged my ass to a succession of unfulfilling jobs just to keep a step ahead of that kind of poverty. I don’t remember getting any help from the government, other than the GI Bill. I am nothing special– if I can get a shitty job, anybody can. I was never hired because I was white or smart or special. Now as I near the end of the journey, I find the government has allowed their banking proxies to destroy my retirement. Rather than make me whole, the government taxes me further to reward those who have robbed me. What I am saying is, I wish everybody could afford health care; but I think I pay enough already. People need to cowboy up and take care of their own damn problems.
Um Kevin, just how does one go about making health care more affordable? And for who? My “Cadillac” Blue Cross plan will be subject to a 40% tax, so it will not be cheaper for me.
The poor souls on Medicare have their benefits cut, so if less=more, maybe it is cheaper?
Here’s the thing–you cannot provide coverage to 40 million additional people without someone paying for it. And under Obamacare taxes will increase, service will be rationed, and R&D and innovative procedures will be diminished.
In short, we will have what the folks in Canada are running away from. No thanks!
