So we wrapped up the season yesterday with the SIDL Awards Banquet and tournament. My darts sucked big time for some reason and I never did get untracked. Felt bad for my partner. As bad as I played, we still eeked out a 6th place finish good for W70,000. If I had brought my game who knows what might have been. Ah well, I just never seem to do well in this event.
Anyway, here’s some photos:
There was eats from Subway and Pizza Hut
And trophys for those who enjoyed a successful season.
For me, it was an award for 2nd Place in the mid-seasons doubles, and one for second place in the league championship. I guess I’m like Avis. I also received pins for 5-mark, 6-mark, 9-mark, bull shot, and league elite. I think my greatest achievement however is maintaining my humility and modesty. Heh.
L-R: Grant, league VP; Lonnie, secretary; and Max, President. They did their usual outstanding job as our hosts.
Lucky, Dennis, and Ron from Eberhardt of Scrooge Pub. Winners of the A Division Regular Season.
Dartaholics, also from Scrooge Pub, B Division Champs. Don’t really know these guys (other than the token miguk Dustin). The guy on the left really has a Sammy Davis, Jr. look going on though, doesn’t he?
Yours truly enjoying my moment in the spotlight…
One half of the Blue Bulls of Bless U Pub accepting our consolation prize. I think we are all still smarting over the way we lost the championship.
Shane had a crappy partner yesterday, but sharing 6th place money was better than nothing.
Jim and Dan took 5th place.
Todd and Jodie knocked me and Shane out of the tourney and finished 4th.
Doug and Dave walked away with 3rd place money.
Jay and Dustin fought hard but had to settle for 2nd Place.
David (I think) and Mike were the tourney champions. Congratulations!
All right, I think that’s just about enough about that.
Just about enough and just about a perfect report. One question though? Who’s the Saprano’s lookin dude in the red-sleeved tee-shirt? Tell-eem if he can’t beat his opponents throwing, then just snarl a bit and show’em his piece – that might help some.
All joking aside, a comment on your Sammy Davis look-alike. One thing that I have marveled at in my travels, particularly in Asia, is the dozen or so times I have encountered people from Korea, China, Japan, the Phil, whereever, who were the spittin-image of some American acquaintance or friend of mine, but were an entirely different race, obviously. Really has given me pause and makes me reflect on the human physiological condition and wonder if the Big Guy is havin fun with us or what.
Along those same lines, we have a huge Flea Market in the local area called Sunrise Flea Market, in Sunrise FL, obviously, and I get over there probably once a quarter or so. They sell and barter everything under the sun and some good buys can be had for a careful shopper. There’s one particular stall that sells deeply discounted watches, and some are so cheap it makes you wonder where they are coming from – these are not knock-offs either. The stall is run by a nice woman from Iran who enjoys me stopping by because she says I look exactly like a good friend of her’s back in Iran and when she sees me me it’s almost like seeing him again. I always offer her my apologies and ask her to pass on my condolences, if ever, and the payoff is that she gives me a ‘preferred’ price on any watch I might find I can’t live without.
Anyway, still blows my mind.
So, John, when are you gonna do the comments on they Korean work ethic???? If it’s gonna take too long you might consider doing it in an email or a word document to yourself, then cut and paste it to the blog when you’re done. Not tryin to tell you how to run your business, but sometimes works for me.
And congrats on a great season – you have a great hobby going there and I wish you the best season ever, one coming.
Regards,
Dennis
Looks like it was a good time. Sorry I couldn’t make it out, but since it coincided with our first wedding anniversary, I didn’t want to risk making it our last.
We have to get a team wind up mixer as soon as Craig is back. Meat, beer, darts, hijinx…who could ask for anything more?
