As in walked to work. And walked for a full hour at lunch. Then walked home. Then I walked to the bar.
A ham and cheese omelette for breakfast. Tuna, a boiled egg, and a pickle for lunch. And a salad for dinner. I’m all in baby!
How long till I’m handsome again? Don’t answer that!
The barkeep at Shenanigans gave me this advice: “You’ve got to love yourself, no one else is going to”. I responded “ouch” and she professed that is not the way she meant it.
Still, she could be right. But I’m feeling better regardless…
And today I got a call at work and the person on the other end said “first of all, I really enjoy your blog…:”
I am always pleased to discover random readers. And also glad I rarely blog about my working life. Anyway, good to know you are out there Jerry!
And that’s about it for now. Stay with me. Things are on the upswing!
I need to follow your walking example more assiduously. I walk about 7000 to 8000 steps while I’m at work (I do 1000-step chunks about once per hour), and if I have the gumption to walk home, I get another 3000 steps in. Right now, for me, it’s about clearing that paltry 10000-step daily minimum. I can’t even think about 20000-step days; those won’t be happening for a while.
Anyway, congrats on getting serious about your diet and your activity level. More power to you.
Kevin, I actually find the walking almost enjoyable and I do feel better afterwards. Doubtful I’ll ever go into the realm of 20,000 steps though–that might be too much of a good thing for me. The biggest benefit to walking I’ve found so far is that it helps me overcome temptation. When I see the chocolate in the candy dish at work, I’m like “ain’t worth negating that hour of walking”…
