I had so much fun completing all the paperwork for Jee Yeun’s fiancee visa. Now my Uncle Sam has generously allowed me to complete essentially the same documents for the permanent residency process. And all it’s costing me is a piddlin’ $1070.00! Is this a great country or what?
As someone who went through the process with my (Korean) wife over the past year, I can only say good luck and get ready to hold your temper. USCIS f’d up and issued her the wrong visa/green card not once but twice and we only just got the correct green card about a week ago (initially approved in July 2012). Fortunately – nay, miraculously – she was able to enter the States and start her degree program without any hiccups.
You know, it is really a messed up process for those of us who try to play by the rules. I started working this in January 2012. I read to day about a person who came here on a tourist visa, got married, and had the green card 3 months later. Makes me feel like a sucker.
Continued good luck with la paperasse (French for “paperwork” or “red tape”). Perhaps all that anger will help you in your ongoing quest to shed those pounds! Does anger increase metabolic rate…?
