Day 2 of the no-beer lifestyle is in the books. I did better at managing my intake of gin as well, and although I had a nice buzz going, I didn’t do anything stupid like spend 3500 pesos on lady drinks. That’s progress!
Two drinks at It Doesn’t Matter along with some nice chat with Max the Dutchman. He and a couple of others had burgers at IDM, but I decided to visit Sit-n-Bull for my evening meal.
After a couple more drinks at the Snackbar, I called it a night and took a trike home. Yeah, my life is just oozing excitement these days. Sorry!
I weighed in after my hike and registered a 211.7. Down a couple of pounds from where I started, but it could be the water weight I sweated off during my walk. Still, it’s a move in the right direction, so I ain’t complaining.
And that’s all I’ve got for now.
Toad shows the way: rip out your eyeballs and die, and soon enough, all the weight will come off like magic!
Interesting how the toad died in a position of alertness. As if it were waiting for the zombie apocalypse to begin.
Good for you.
You’re well on a your way to health.
Is not consuming beer 🤔 a little difficult for you? I’m not a drinker so I assume all alcohol is the same in terms of giving you excitement. But it seems like your behavior on beer and on whiskey is different, and you’re struggling to enjoy your nights out as a result?
As for the water weight
A wise man told me that you’d need to increase your water intake in order to lose water weight. It’s counterintuitive: you drink more water 💧 on your daily exercise, and you’ll lose more water weight.
And an even better way to lose weight is to drink 2 cups of water before your meals. And if you want to keep having that buzz from alcohol for a longer time: drink 1 cup of water with every alcoholic drink.
The person who told me this did lose a lot of weight with this water 💧 diet….but he also took up cycling 🚲 so that helped.
Good luck on your journey to health
I hope nobody points at your big belly in the future
Thanks for your writing as usual
Kev, as for the diet tip, all I can say is “you first!”
Yeah, the frog’s ready-to-jump position is what I first noticed. Then I walked past, and it didn’t move, so I took a closer look. No idea what happened to the eye. You’re right; it gave it a zombie-like quality.
James, nice to hear from you again.
Beer is my preferred drink. It comes in a 12-ounce bottle and is a nice sipping beverage. The gin is in a glass of ice water and not as fun to imbibe. But the biggest difference is a beer will last me longer. On day one, I was sucking down those gin drinks too fast. The gin is also stronger than beer, so it gets you drunk quicker. My goal is to hit that sweet spot of feeling buzzed without becoming obviously impaired. I did better on day two. Either way, I’m still going to enjoy my nights on the town.
My doctor told me I needed to drink more water as well. It reminded me of something someone said to me once: Why is a San Miguel Zero beer like making love in a canoe? Because they are both fucking close to water! Anyway, I drink my gin with soda water…that’s just carbonated water, so I’m getting an enhanced daily dose of h2o. We’ll see how it works out.
Yeah, I hope it doesn’t take me nine months to get rid of the belly like it does the women folk.
John, I can understand your dilemma. I tend to drink mixed drinks at the same rate as drinking beer. So a 12 oz mixed drink takes me just as long to finish as a 12 oz beer, though it probably has 300% of the alcohol. So yeah, that is a problem.
You could try alternating one mixed drink, one XXX (XXX = water, flavored water, etc) or ask them to make 1/2 shot drinks, :shrug
I am sure you will find what works best for you.
Yeah, doing one shot in a tall glass, then taking the whole 12 oz can of soda water to mix it (take a couple of sips, pour in more water) seems to be the right combo for a weak drink.
