Dartaholics ripped us a new one tonight, 25-12. But you know what? I would rather be a loser than an asshole. Congrats to the biggest assholes in the Seoul International Dart League. You earned it!

But I’m not in the league this year!
Was there some shit talking going down? Give us the dirt!
Well, they are Koreans so if they were shit talkin’ I wouldn’t know. What pissed me off was them running up the score (pointing) long after the leg was decided. We were being dominated and they rubbed our noses in it. I consider it unsportsmanlike.
John….you can’t let that part of the game get under your skin. The game is played to do your best to ensure you win but sometimes there IS NO need to point further and just move on. The problem may just be that they don’t differentiate between winning and sportsmanship.
It could also be a case of trying to get extra QPs and pad their stats. If this was the case than I am on your side 100% and that is just plan ignorant to the sprit of the game.
I have dealt with this through out my playing time and have learned to not let it bother me. I look at a leg that someone starts to go off on points when the game is out of hand as a time to practice and try to hit some tripples or bulls. It also may be that they fear your shot and want to make sure that you can’t catch up. In this you should take it as a compliment.
My advise to you is just go with the game and wait until next time then show no mercy! I have been involved with games that were way out of hand that I just picked away at the numbers to close and ended up wining some games because I could not miss a bull and they could not hit. From experience it is possible to come back from down by 500 points in cricket and win….so use their darts as motivation to play yours and not to get yourself worked up and actually taken out of the game.
Petro
Sounds like you ran into the darts version of Steve Spurrier.
sounds my last night of league play there when someone was doing it to me and i was ready to throw down. but better judgements overuled me (you and Jim) and also more drinking.
Didn’t we have this discussion with Alistair at our farewell BBQ? As I recall, he felt this was a good strategy, no?
In talking to a few soft tip players about said tactics, with the limited number of rounds that soft tip machines allow during cricket, it is not an offside strategy to go after points, even when it is not “necessary” in order to keep the lead. This is a strategy often adopted by our Korean brothers who cut their teeth playing cricket in this manner. All things being equal though, any darts that don’t take you one step closer to ending the game are wasted, which should leave the opponent with a chance to catch up / win in the long run. Thus, I say get Yeob to bring you over a tequila next time, and then proceed to kick some ass!!!!
Yeah, yeah. I wrote that post last night when I was still drunk and pissed off. Now? Who gives a shit…
to be fair Duke, you always left so many numbers open that it was difficult not to point you at times ^^
As long as you have a system that rewards assholes…there will be assholes.
In the case of soft tip, it does make sense as VJ pointed out as it is a means to win a game due to the limited rounds to catch up.
In the case of league, QP’s “reward” asshole play. I know that this is not the intent or in the spirit of QP’s but it is true.
Hate QP’s.
ouch Jonh R. That was probably true. The good news is that you were never good enough to do it!! ^^
haha, i never implied it was me, i was usualy scoring
that is true but you did get a good shot in up above.
