As I said, I bought the Team America: World Police DVD yesterday. Now I can’t get this damn song out of my head…..(let it load then let it rip!)
Warning: Extreme language. It’s the American way! (oh, yeah some of the images are not work safe either)
You got it! I’m going out to get it! F’ yeah!
Ah, I forgot about that one line. I’m still trying to figure out how slavery fits into the picture and I am still bothered by its inclusion.
Mom-that was my exact same thought-leave it to those guys to make something uncomfortable.
I have not seen the movie yet but that song is purty cool.
The slavery thing is intended to show that America is not and has historically not been perfect. Far from it. We learn from our past mistakes, we grow, we move on. And we make new mistakes and repeat the process. That’s what makes us great. So, warts and all we are still the shining beacon of hope for freedom and liberty.
You know, I had a Korean compare our atrocities against the native Americans as just as bad as what is happening today in North Korea. Perhaps, but we have learned from the sins of our fathers, and perhaps freeing the oppressed is our national penance.
So, the song is not celebrating slavery, it is recognizing that we have our skeletons but we are not going to keep them in the closet. Sometimes we screw up, but we strive to fix it (Civil War/Civil Rights) and at the end of the day we are a stronger nation because of it.
America, F*** Yeah!
I don’t buy your explanation. It is simply not logical. Everything mentioned in that song is current except for slavery. Pornography is a wart, a current wart that many wold not herald as an attribut but then many might. It only makes sense if the purpose of the song is to ridicule.
Nope, it is a celebration of freedom. And freedom is to be cherished warts and all. I would rather put up with pornography than give up my freedom to choose what I view.
“…put up with pornography…”? You a major contributor to the success of the industry describe that as putting up with pornography. LOL. And all that time I thought you were enjoying it.
