Hate to see that happen. I used to spend quite a bit of time in Philadelphia and saw the United States when she was first docked there. It seems a shame that she can’t live on in some useful capacity. I lived in California when they brought the Queen Mary to Long Beach. Seemed like a great idea at the time, but I don’t think it has ever proved to be financially viable.
Old ships are invariably destined for the scrapyard, but they live on in our memory and imagination of a bygone era.
