On the Thai way to hell

The Swedish on that penis sign is incorrect as well. They’re using the adjectives for the plural form instead of the adjectives for the singular form. Example:

little penis = liten penis
little penises = små penisar

Instead they have små penis, so the wrong “combination” there, as well as with the other one (big penis = stor penis, big penises = stora penisar).

Who knows, maybe a Dane helped them with the sign and that’s why the languages are such a mess.

Stepping down

That time year again. Happy 43rd to your son, and happy 43rd to me.

Because I’m easy

I’ll hop in here and be a little more blunt than Kevin is: you’re making a huge mistake here. Better to go all the way and pay women for sex directly than put yourself through this nonsense.

Yes it sounds harsh but my god man you need a reality check. If it’s women you are looking for that are into feelings and Charles Bukowski and poetry et al then you are in the wrong country. Accept it for what it is, a pay for play place and nothing else.

Harsh words I’m sorry but ‘looking for love’ and ‘the flips’ is just bonkers.

Bon what did I eat?

I don’t know, I grew up in South Africa where pies and sausages rolls were ubiquitous, and still are! Every gas (petrol) station would sell them, supermarkets, pie shops, pie vendors – you get the idea. Common pies were steak & kidney, pepper steak, Cornish, chicken & mushroom, chicken peri-peri, spinach & feta, cheese, and variations of the aforementioned. That pie in your pic looks weird, the pastry should be crisp but flaky, the insides not so loose/runny, and certainly not cold in the middle!

What I would recommend is making your own. Start with sausage rolls, a bit easier to make, and can practice getting the pastry right with them. Otherwise it’s always nice seeing an American eating pies that are pies (it confuses me when you guys refer to pies but really mean a sweet dessert-type pie).

On this day

Jesus, your son is exactly the same age as me. Born March 11th, 1978! Apparently when I was born Kojak was on the television, say it wasn’t the same when your son was born or I’m hiding under the blankets for the next week!

But yeah, happy birthday to him, and me as well I guess, can’t really say I’m a spring chicken any more…

And so it begins. Again.

Hope you have a good time, John! I will soon be leaving the snores of northern Sweden for the southern shores of Cape Town. Going to be one hell of a flight(s), but at least I’ll see some sunlight.

And down get too down on yourself! Life is what it is, and trust me, it seems like you’re doing a good job of it.

‘Tis the season!

Have a good one, John! Almost 2018, talk about living in the future…

Spare your heart…

Sorry to hear it. It never ceases to blow my mind how people one considers friends/partners can just decide you’re no longer worth it (worth what, who even knows).

Thailand should be a nice break at least. It’s one of the very, very few places in Asia I actually miss and will most likely visit again, so I am looking forward to your future post about it.

Take care

Every step you take

Hey John

I hear you about the rejection. I found out on Wednesday I didn’t get the PhD position I applied for, which would have been good as the salary for doing a PhD in Sweden is decent. Thing is, I asked them ages ago to at least let me know about the results so I could get on with my life, instead of sitting around waiting week after week for some good news (I was certain I would get is, as I worked with the supervisor before and so on). They didn’t even have the decency to do that, I had to find out the hard way.

So for the first 30 minutes I was upset and angry and feeling worthless, then I thought I have to do something, so I called the restaurant/bar down the road and asked if they have anything. Met the owner yesterday, and will be given a trial run in a week. Yep, that’s me – the 38 year-old guy chopping up tomatoes in the kitchen being bossed around by a 20 year-old.

Life goes on I guess, so while we might both be going through some rough patches I am sure it will get better. On that note, off to get many many beers and make myself some pulled pork tacos. Cheers
