A very special Children’s Day

Thanks, Dad. That was sweet. She had a wonderful birthday. I’m glad I made it past it though. Two kids, one birthday, would’ve been crazy. Love you.

The Big 3-OH

Hey Dad,

Kevin is in Charlotte covering the ACC games. I keep telling Kevin that after 30, you don’t remember your age. I thought I was 31 all year. Love you.

The white stuff

Snow is alien to Gracyn. She’s been making pretend snowballs at school. I had no idea they put glitter in snow. I can’t wait to see her in snow for the first time. Enjoy! Love you.

Movie reviews

I haven’t watched any of these movies. Luckily, I see a lot of previews and know which one’s to stay away from. The best movies so far this year are, Things I lost In a Fire, Gone Baby Gone and A Man Without a Country. Pretty sure they aren’t out on video though. What did you think of the assortment I sent you?

Giving thanks

Happy Thanksgiving. Gracyn’s teachers wanted everyone to say what they are thankful for this year. When asked, Gracyn said, “I am thankful for my lip.”

Love you

Memory problems

HI Dad,

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!!!

Saying that in this message should answer any questions on purpose or regret. You have so many people who love you. The worst thing you can do is look in the past for validation on who you are now. You have so many who truly love you and will always be there. By the way, come home soon, we miss you. Gracyn is such an angel. Kevin and Lynn are remarkable together. Your son is a celebrity in our little city and has a wonderful work ethic. He has always strived to make you proud. When I see Grandpa with Gracyn he turns to butter. You did a wonderful thing by moving them here. I am so happy that she is able to experience a relationship her Great Grandparents. She loves Grandpa so much. She calls him PaPa, just like I did when I was her age. And she loves her Granny too. Although, at times I think she might love Baby more than any of us.

I think it is great what you did by going to Korea. We are still here and look forward to you coming home though. I love you, Dad!

On this Father’s Day, know that we’re thinking of you now and not you in the past.

50 Years

Besides the oh baby part, I agree with Carol. You’ve lost weight! You are going to look like you did when you walked me on the football field for homecoming. You might have to invest in a new suit soon.

UNbelievable

Any nation standing by while atrocities as discussed are all hyprocrites. We have a moral duty to do whatever necessary to prevent or stop genocides and malice rapes! Regardless of our budgetary restraints.

Weekend update

This is the only time that your waist will be smaller than mine! You’ll be looking like Tom Selleck again before you know it.

This day…

Carol, that is an easy one! The woman is always right! 😆

Geez….

Having no motivation must be running in the family right now. I only have 8 more weeks left until my due date. I am consumed with thoughts of Gracyn and her arrival. I am also in my nesting stage. Everything needs to be clean and organized. Mark just thinks I am finding reasons to pick and drive him crazy. If only he could be me for a day. Mark has been very busy. St. Patty’s Day is on the 19th and he is helping Mike Campbell with a fundraiser next week. Mike officially stated that he is running for Lt. Govenor. Kevin and Lynn are closing on their house Friday, so they will be moving out by this weekend. They are stressed, but excited.
Well, we all miss you here. I’m off to see Miss Saigon with Beckie. Love you.

Not a good start to the day

I still don’t believe it is anyone else’s right to decide what I can and can’t handle, regardless of what track I am going to choose. Stress can come in many forms, not just from being a mother.

At least you can drink coffee. I miss it so much. Gracyn kicks me like crazy when I drink it. Decaf tea instead for me. We are doing her nursery this weekend. Grace is driving up from Florida to help us. In other news, I have cut back my work week from 55 hours to 40. Doctor’s Orders! It makes quite a difference in my quality of life. I feel human again. Unfortunately, I am not going to get the promotion I was working for. My manager is hiring someone else for the role. Instead, she is hiring a friend of mine that I recruited from another agency for the position. This was my managers response she sent me in an email, “Well, let’s look at it this way -you are both professional people and it appears as if you have a mutual respect for each other! In addition, if she came in as a DD it would be to grow herself in to another position eventually and that would leave the door open again for you. Although I still think you will be a great DD (and I told her that), you are going to want to be a primary Mom for a little while. To be a DD as well as the mother of a newborn might prove to be too stressful – we will wait and see how things play out. You have a ton of talent also and you would be an unstoppable partner!!!!” Do you think she would have said that to a man in my position. I’m not trying to be one of those women that wants break the glass ceiling, but give me a break. That comment is just stupid.
That’s all the latest. Miss you!

The faces of the American left

Enough Already!
I did not vote for Bush and I disagree with many of his policies, but I am downright emabarassed by the juvenile whining currently emanating from the anti-Bush camp. Time to face the facts.
If liberals spend the next four years addressing issues such as how to re-connect with rural voters, then they can seriously contend again in 2008. If instead they sit around debating whether Donald Rumsfeld or Darth Vader is more evil, then the GOP is looking at eight more years at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

The Weather

Hey Dad, some daughterly advice. Your picture in “all about John” makes you look like a terrorist or that you are about to ground me! Where is your smile? Love you.

Busy

Sounds like a great way to spend your last few days in VA. Snow, Fire, Movies, and Wine. Simple pleasures are very comforting. Soon you will be working when I’m sleeping and we will both be starting a new chapter in our lives. You a Grandpa in Korea and me a Mom in Carolina. When you come home you will have an even larger family to share your life with. Kevin will be married to Lynn, Grandma and Grandpa will be within a days drive, and of course you’ll have your Gracie (whatever you decided to call her, she’ll be proud to have you as her Grandpa). We will miss you. Have a wonderful adventure. Until July…
