Back to the future

Congratulations! And welcome back to the Fed work force 😉

The last dance

As Kevin said, shocking news and I too, was hoping for punch line. Very sorry to hear this.

SOFA so good

Glad to hear things are looking up and you’re almost ready to ride off into the sunset!

Meanwhile in China

It wasn’t too bad with the volume turned down.

Slow cookin’

Oh you’re doing it all fancy. I just put the meat in the pot, add BBQ sauce and cook. Not the way to do it, apparently.

» Posted By Nomad On 10/November/2014 @ 8:18 pm

I’ve tried to make it a few times and it either came out too soggy (if I added the sauce during cooking) or too dry.

Justifying Justified

One of my favorite shows on TV but 26 episodes in 48 hours? Dude!!!

Another milestone

Happy Birthday!

I get knocked down…

I thought maybe you had taken up a new hobby as in learning scripting 😉

Spare your heart…

Stephen King has his critics but he has always been one of my favorite writers. He can do things with words not too many others can.

Inspired

Oh yeah! I love those things and like you, have my wife make me one every now and then.

Korean drama

I thought you kicked the habit?

Two thousand

Congratulations, sir.

Pizza school

LOL. It’s been a long time but I remember those days oh too well. I also remember the “no mas” which was forgotten too quickly once the hangover subsided.

Seven days

I envy you sir, you lead an interesting life. Have a good flight!

This little piggy went to the market

Is there an H-mart anywhere near you? The nearest one to us is Atlanta and once every couple of months my wife and some of her friends make the pilgrimage down there. Thankfully, with Clarksville being a military town, there are plenty of Korean stores and restaurants (and roughly 5,000 Koreans) so she-who-must-be-obeyed can pretty much stay stocked up on vittles.

The Weight

Very impressive and kudos for sticking with it.

I’ll never do that again!

Congratulations, sir!

Vis a Vis(a)

It’s a PITA, isn’t it?

I’ll fly away

I have less than 3 weeks left in Korea. We fly out on the 19th to Ft. Campbell. After 14 years, we’re going home…what a weird feeling. Counting the first 3 years I was here from 1986 – 1989, I’ve been in Korea for 17 years, which is 1/3 of my life and 1/2 of my adult life. It’ll be quite the reverse culture shock.

Coincidentally

Grow your own 😉

What would an evacuation of Korea look like?

IMO, with the amount of dependents over here now, a real NEO would be a logistical nightmare, especially if the sh*t hit the fan real quick.

The end of the road

Ditto what Kevin said. Will the chronicles of John continue once you get back home?

Memories of Korea (part 1)

This time, I’ve been here since ’97 and when I leave (hopefully sometime next year), it’s going to be tough. This has become my home and going back to the states will be total culture shock for me (nope, never been back since 97). Take good care of all your pics…when I was here the first time (86 – 89) I took thousands of pictures all over the country and somehow, somewhere, during our moves, all of them got lost. Of course, now with digital photography, it’s much easier to back up and safeguard pics.

And all that jazz…

Welcome back!

I’m on the edge of my seat, waiting for your revelations 😉

Mad Men

And surely you’ve checked out some of the oldies like ‘The Wire’, ‘Six Feet Under’ and ‘Boston Legal’?

So how are the retirement plans coming along?

» Posted By Nomad On 20/October/2010 @ 7:09 pm

Mad Men has become one of my favorite shows. Have you checked out ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Weeds’ yet?
