Interesting that “unexcitement” isn’t a word, but “unexciting” is.
Regarding hard-to-find grocery items: have you asked John the foodie where he gets his stuff from?

I’m in no position to finger-wag about losing things like keys and wallets; I’ve lost such things often enough in the past. At least you found your wallet!
Looks to have been a nice walk. And if there’s a picture of tires, there’s guaranteed to be a “tired” joke as a caption.

The steaks were high last night
[Reposting comment without stupid typo.]
In the science of attraction, people talk about oxytocin (ox-ee-TOH-sin), also called “the love hormone,” which your body puts out in moments of physical closeness or intimacy. Why do so many Hollywood stars play romantic roles and end up hooking up in real life? Oxytocin. The chemical is probably responsible for loving (or at least lustful) pair-bonding as well as for the devotion that links parents and children.
A lot of what we feel is chemical. Merely looking at an alluring photo can be enough to summon the oxytocin and make you think the woman on the screen or page could be your girlfriend.
As for the “walking ATM” photo… that about sums up the depth of these relationships. You’re good only as long as you’ve got the money. But if shallow, money-driven relationships make you happy, then go be happy!

Maybe invest in one of those waterproof mattress covers that you put down under the actual cloth mattress cover. That way, if you piss or shit the bed, you don’t have to worry about anything soaking into the mattress. I’ve been thinking about investing in such a cover myself. I haven’t had any serious incidents (except the very occasional “shart” (maybe once every two years), which I generally manage to keep from tainting the bed), but there’s always a first time, and I dread ever tainting my mattress.
Not that I have any right to talk about this, given my own vices and foibles, but your post makes it sound as if you’re dealing with some self-control issues, both when it comes to saying “no” to beggars and when you’re consuming alcohol. It’s not enough simply to be aware such a problem exists; what’s important is feeling the urgency to correct the problem, then doing it. (I’m talking to myself as much as to you.)
Find a big rectangle of stone, then find a mason/artisan to carve “Don’t be a sucker” in large Latin script on that bad boy, then hang it over your front door inside your place so that you see it every time you go out the door.
She sent me a picture of the lab receipt and diagnosis of “blood infection.”
Did the receipt have a clearly marked date on it? This could easily become one of those “my grandmother died multiple times” scenarios, where the same excuse gets recycled over and over because someone’s not following Rule #1.

Oil probably helps. You don’t need much. Pro tip: you can also slather on a thin coating of mayonnaise, which is mostly oil. The egg in the mayo will also help give your burritos a nice, golden-brown color.

Teasdale’s poem is interesting because the first stanza is in the second person (you), and the second stanza is in the third person (she/her). She goes from addressing her love directly to talking about her as if she weren’t there.
Nice views of your walk, and good shots of the food. My cookies suffered a similar melting problem when I made mine. My solution was to use my little, circular burger-patty molds to produce perfectly round cookies.
When you make your burritos, think about toasting the filled tortillas in a pan before you eat. Adds flavor.

Glad you made it home before your ass made its declaration. Nice walk with nice views and great skies. And congrats on the apparent weight loss! Question, though: if you get back down to 200 pounds, will you stop there, or will you keep chipping away until the belly is totally gone?

Jamaica, one of the Snackbar gals, was open and gave us a cheerful greeting before we commenced our hike.
Jamaica was open, was she? Heh.
I’d hate to walk in that much water. Better you than me!

I hope you don’t have to get vaxxed on the way out of the PI or on the way back in. While I don’t think, statistically, that the jab is all that harmful, there’s enough bad news about it to give me pause and make me actively against it. What did your new doctors (the married couple) say about the jab?

I feel [as if I’m] on the cusp of something
Just don’t go having any strokes!
So, it’s like the rule of the gunfighter, but in reverse. Instead of There’s always someone faster, with the Hash, it’s There’s always someone slower. Good of you to look out for the guy.

I did a 7K Sunday stroll around San Isidro, and it looked this:
I must’ve read that three times before I finally figured out the “like” was missing!
Food all looks good. “Chooks,” eh? We in Australia now?
Good luck with today’s Hash! (I assume that’s on top of the 5K trek this morning.) I’m writing this after 3 p.m., so maybe the “good luck” will have to apply retroactively.

but damn, I never walk these streets in the dark.
How unsafe is it in the PI? And what are the dangers? One thing I never worry about in Korea—but which I worried about all the time when I lived in DC—is personal safety at night. I’ve walked long distances in Seoul at extremely weird hours and never once worried. Here, there are no random gunshots or roving gangs, and crazy people usually keep to themselves.
Do be sure you don’t go from John Mac to Johnny Blackout.

Nice walk! So, I guess Grace has a new dawg now, eh? Well, good for her. I hope she takes good care of little Hasher (who, for the moment at least, seems ironically named… but give him time).
The yin-yang symbol is called the taegeuk in Korean (from the Chinese for “Great Ultimate”—the T’ai Chi). The opposite-colored dots indicate that yang erupts out of yin, and yin erupts out of yang: the opposites imply each other and are never without each other. The swirling shape of the black and white “tadpoles” indicates that the cosmos is a dynamic place: this is no steady equilibrium, but rather a state of constant flux or imbalance. In Western philosophy and religion, a similar concept is called the coincidentia oppositorum, the oneness/unity of opposites.

Food looks good!
1.6 km = about 1 mile, so your app sounds off every mile. I wonder if you can adjust it to the metric system.
Hello, kitty!

Nice hike! And congrats on the darts win.
Hermann Hesse? Trust the Germans to focus on the difficult, must-endure aspect of love. Leave the positive stuff to the French.
Then again, Hesse had a fascination with Eastern philosophy and spirituality (he wrote Siddhartha, after all), so you’d think he’d be more stoic.

Dick sounds as though he could benefit from a little knuckle therapy. What an asshole. And a coward to boot.

Another trail that I’m glad I didn’t have to do. Congrats on finishing it. Your July 4th plate looks good; you’ll recall I did surf-n’-turf for my crowd in May. My coworker tried to tell me he’d heard that surf-n’-turf was considered hackneyed in the culinary world; I say fuck the people who think that way. Surf-n’-turf rocks!

Yeah, that knowledge-wisdom-philosophy meme has been making the rounds lately.
Continued good luck with the no-beer project. Don’t be like me and overdo it on cheat days!

Toad shows the way: rip out your eyeballs and die, and soon enough, all the weight will come off like magic!
Interesting how the toad died in a position of alertness. As if it were waiting for the zombie apocalypse to begin.

Have you visited Mike in the hospital? I get the impression you two aren’t close, but the gift of a person’s presence is worth more than mere money. Not that the money hurts, of course, but being there for someone matters, and you sound as if you truly care about this shitty situation for Mike.

Good luck!
I see the ab roller for the abs… just a reminder, though, that spot reduction is a myth: you can’t reduce fat in specific areas of your body by exercising those areas. The best way to get abs is through dieting. There is, of course, nothing wrong with using the ab roller to help condition your core; just know that that’s all you’re doing: you’re toughening those muscles, not making yourself any slimmer.
In terms of exercise, though, I really think you’re already doing pretty well. You walk several hours every day, a lot of that on hills. If you’re looking to burn more calories through exercise, you might try 5 minutes of something intense 3X a week—jump rope, fast jogging, or even just five minutes up a really difficult hill near your home. I realize it’s easy to recommend intense exercise, and that it’s not so easy to do it. While I’m a big believer in staircase work, for example, I don’t enjoy it, despite years of having done it. So I’ll understand if you feel aversion to intense workouts. That said, there’s now a lot of science backing up the idea that short, intense workouts have healthy effects that last throughout the day (look up HIIT training).
Otherwise, for weight loss, diet is the main thing. You say you’re doing intermittent fasting on your current eating schedule; for a lot of people that means eating during a 6-hour window and fasting the other 18 hours. Some do 18/6; others do 18/8, or something easy like 12/12 (you can sleep through most of that fast). The hardcore go 23/1, i.e., eat everything in a 1-hour window and fast the rest of the day. The benefit of doing that is that you minimize your blood-sugar and insulin spikes, thus preventing your body from storing more fat. Maybe try OMAD (One Meal a Day) once per week and see how that works for you.
Your numbers from your doctor’s checkup don’t sound horrible at all, though, so in the end, just do whatever feels best. Again, good luck!

Martin is definitely looking thinner. I bet his good-looking girlfriend is pleased. Careful—he might leapfrog you soon!
My glucose came in at 6.66
By my pre-stroke standards, an A1c of 6.66 is pretty good. By my current standards, 5.7 is considered the very high end of normal. Above that, and you’re looking at diabetes. Your A1c is a 3-month average of your blood sugar (your red cells have a 3-month lifespan, and your blood has a mix of new, middle-aged, and old cells, hence the 3-month average), and it’s a more important number than your fasting glucose, which can fluctuate by the hour. I don’t think 6.66 should necessarily set off any alarm bells, but don’t let that number get above 7. If possible, try to get down to 5.5 or so. Good luck! To us both.

Did you get a reason for why the Hares wanted to send people through the dirty creek? I guess, since asking about that would amount to a complaint, it’s a good way to stay off the ice!
Sweet-and-sour chicken looks good and gooey. I hope it got served with a mound of rice.
Yeah, staying off the mountains during a potential thunderstorm is wise.
